At that time, I heard a couple of songs on the radio but was otherwise NOT familiar with them. I missed out on that era because I was not aware of who/what Ed was. 😥
Nothing like Van Halen. Never was. Never will be. Period. I still can't believe Edward is gone. But his legacy will live on forever. This is great footage. A lot of fun. Even just Eddie screwing around back-stage or in the studio.... is musical gold - and better than anything coming out now. Great stuff !
I agree Jimmy Z. My favorite band ever. Best show I ever saw, with Sammy, 1992 in Mansfield, Mass. me and my friends, 3rd row. They brought the house down.
💔 Although I never met EVH, he was one of those people that made the (rock) world a better place just knowing he was here. Now heaven’s a better place.
These guys are awesome. My favorite was, “I’m a grown man but my brain never developed passed maybe fifteen,” by Sammy because I felt that. I’m a sixteen year old girl but my brain never made it pass maybe idk five 😂 I also love Alex he’s fucking funny. “As long as they have a good time, we have a good time, great….also we get paid a lot.” 😂then Ofc Eddie was a gem, he was super funny also, I mean I think the funniest in the band was either Michael or Alex but Eddie, there was something about his personality that just charms me. He’s charming and super cool. I miss him a lot, I wish he was still here.
Goes to show us the media is full of shit When all that shit was being said about Alex and Eddie they didn't let that ruin their families they stuck together like family should always do
@@jguitarman2380 I needed a change of focus yesterday & played Van Halen concerts all afternoon. (Excellent move on my part!) Bottom line, no matter who was fronting them, they were simply one hell of a FUN BAND! The joy they exuded on stage is palpable. And that all, quite obviously, began & ended with Eddie. The energy Ed gave off, with each & every smile, his fun-loving nature, his movement on stage, all spoke volumes. Even at 60, he's still racing around the stage, offering up his famous jump. You just can't help but smile back & instantly get wrapped up in all that FUN! He was really something extra special & is already dearly missed. 💔
Love the video..all of it except the "you died" part. I felt my heart skip a beat right at that part. I'm sure the creator of the video meant no harm by it but i think the video would be so much better without it. I went from 😂 to 😳 to 😣 just like that.
you’re one of the few people that know i didn’t mean any harm with it haha. i got a lot of backlash because of that even tho it’s not meant for eddie, i cut it out now!
@@coldwinter5710 Um, I was only KIDDING!!! This was a long running joke with the band even after they were famous. Eddie had his first interview with guitar player magazine because Pat Travers was too busy with whatever to do an interview giving them the blow - off. Eddie responded with "HEY! Why doesn't anyone ever want to interview me?!" And in turn was asked "Who are you?" " I'm Eddie Van Halen" they did this one in April 1980 by John Sievert. In this article Eddie discussed his rig, techniques, and other inside things. Very cool read. I highly suggest it. This story is the same one that I have quoted so many times...... Any way this is the reason why I say this every time someone posts like this about Van Halen.
@@solarismoon3046 There was an interview in GP with him in 3/80 too. In that interview he said Michael Anthony was a great bass player. Then just a year later, he was asking Billy Sheehan to join VH as the bass player. Kinda makes you wonder what happened between Eddie and Mike during that short span of time in between.
I loved that KURDT COBAIN mocked him in the smells like teen spirit video. Evh was a goof ass who could play the guitar and make angry bee sounds with it but what Great songs did he right?
In the genre that he spent his life, millions of people feel he wrote many great songs. What he played, musically, was pretty great. The people who don't think so are outnumbered
I don't think he's going to, lose any sleep over you. Not subscribing. Get over yourself dude, you weren't popular in school, and you're not popular. NOW!!
I'll take hair metal over the complete garbage that has been poured into everybody's ears in mainstream over the last 10 years. At least it was rock and roll and the chicks were hot
One other thing...when you saw Van Halen live, if Eddie didn't absolutely blow your mind (cause he did!) David Lee Roth had 20,000 people in the palm of his hand. You'd be cracking up laughing cause the guy was outrageously bad ass and entertaining. If you caught them anytime unless Dave was too drunk...you saw a hell of a show.
No band can beat the swagger and attitude of Van Halen. Miss you King Edward Van Halen.
Imagine you’re just walkin around and DLR comes up to you and asks if you’re familiar with Van Halen
that would be a dream come true 😫

Best band ever!,! The greatest guitarist! The most inspired and innovator Mr Eddie Van Halen,!. ... We love Van Halen! ! Thank you
Never realized how silly Al was
u ever seen the end of hot for teacher? XD
He was, but got more serious as time went on. Al and Dave were the spokesmen in the early days.

its from Van Halen's 'Mayhem in Amsterdam' on countdown 1981 :) you can look it up on yt
Ed.
I NEED MIRE CLIPS
Same level like Steve Lukather in playing guitar
Roth or Hagar?
BOTH! 💗🎶
I love them both but I went through all their songs and ranked my favorites and I had all DLR songs at the top. Surprised me.
Honestly i like DLR just a tad better bc they had more stage energy
