THIS is why i love this band. they never took themselves too seriously, at least not in the earlier years. they just wanted to have fun and it showed through their demeanor. the most important thing i learned from eddie was to have as much fun doing what you LOVE.

I dont agree. Behind these funny and cool images you are watching there was a tough business involved with contracts and regulations. I think it is the opposite, everything these guys did was serious and top level and the van halen brothers were the absolute owners of that boat thats why there was always a lot of tension between them and the other members of the band.

Yes indeed. I read somewhere, cannot give source, sorry, of a friend saying that Eddie and Valerie were true soulmates. They were saying everyone knew they still adored and missed each other, Valerie just couldn't deal with drug fucked Eddie any more. He was a lovely person, but he drank way, way too much and took way, way too many drugs, and when anyone is that out of their mind on substances, they are not pleasant to be around.
I know, my wife just kicked me out after 20 years for being similarly unmanagable, despite us still loving each other and wanting to be together.
It's easy to forget just how talented these guys were. They make it all look so easy, and yet they maintain an awesome sense of humour. It must have been magic to be around them, what a great way to remember them

I know!! I was born in the late 80s and missed the three most interesting eras in this country's history (US):
the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Those guys got to experience all three! I'd trade this pre/post-internet phase to have been born in the 50s any day of the week! So jelly of my parents. Dad followed Sabbath for a while as a teen and the parties they attended in their early 20s were some of the most legendary times in music (according to my Dad). Kind of a "retro-fomo" if I'm being honest
1978 I saw baby VH open for Sabbath. Had no idea who they were. They completely wrecked Black Sabbath😆I was a VH fan from that moment, forward. RIP EVH🙏😘

@@joepipe1010 FKN NAILED IT, VH was the best band in the world from mid 70’s to mid 80’s, FKN UNTOUCHABLE those first 6 albums and live nobody was better, seen them live for every album with DLR and they smoked every band that played with !!!!!

I Was Blessed Enough to See VAN HALEN In Concert and It Was One of the Most Amazing Moments of My Life. God, Life Was So Much Simpler Back Then. None of This Bullshit Where Everyone Is So FCKN Focused on Their GD Cell Phone That They Let Life Just Pass By and Miss So Much. RIP, EVH, And Know That You Were and Will Always be The Master of Your Craft. And, You Made It Look So Damned Easy. If these three ultra-elite guitarists respect and admire Edward, then you can bet your bottom that Edward was even better than we, the regular fans, even knew.

ever notice that most of your lead singers in '80s glam metal bands and even less of the pre 70s bands had narcissists as front men? Chuck Berry seemed kind of narcissistic but that boy could back it up too, so maybe chuck was just a little arrogant? By the way those arrogant front men do make some good music though.

I love the David lee Roth years of Van Halen but it always seemed Ed looked like a native straight out of the North End of Winnipeg Manitoba that lived off of whiskey and gold spray paint.
