Really enjoyed seeing Auckland, beautiful place. With your passion and love for all things maritime, you must have found New Zealand to be Nirvana.
It is mind-blowing that before technology was avaialble, people managed to cross oceans in handmade wooden boats - those people must have had a keen intelligence and affinity with the Earth, true Masters. Thank you and Happy Sails.

The fact that the people who became known as Polynesians were able settle the largest ocean on the planet with no knowledge of the existence of metal or of compasses is truly remarkable. Their ability to wayfind using the stars, birds, swells and clouds is mind blowing!

Great video James. I lived in Auckland for a year in my early twenties but at the time I didn't really have sailing on my radar. So thank you for showing me what I missed back then :)

Totally dig the vintage wooden boats...works of art. Auckland seems to have sort of a Vancouver B.C. vibe.

      Totally underrated comment.
I recently found an Alberg 35 in Los Angeles and it was gone in a couple days. The selling owner said the new buyer mentioned James and Triteia too.

What a surprise to see all that city around you! I didnt even know there were Marine Bookstores. That was a great museum, they put a Lot into it. I wish you had more time on the video. Aucklands was/is aparently a very sea dependent city. Those Yatchs!! I dont even have a word for them. That one was 1897 ?? (saved from being scrapped) Then 1904? That one you went on was SO beautiful too. All it takes is time, a lot of $$ and...heart. Thank you, as always.

You're showing a lot of places that "The Old Seadog" (Barry) showed on his voyage. I'm really taken back by how different your experience is from his. Poor Barry always seems to have such a hard time with everything, and always wanting a beer at the end of the day. But you're so chill, you have a cheerful attitude most of the time, and you seem to only have gratitude for all of your experiences. Anyway, that's my comment. Thanks for the videos and fair winds.

Someone’s attitude always determines a good time from what others might perceive as a struggle. I was raised to not think I was entitled to everything being easy, which ironically has made my life much easier.

Well Barry is English so it wouldn't be right if he didn't complain a bit. ;-) Besides Barry is getting on in life and I must admit I'm impressed with what he does do. Thanks for the museum visit James. I left NZ 25 years ago. Things sure have changed. My old stomping grounds in Auckland seem to have disappeared. One day I'll sail back.

Hi James, don’t forget Australian won the Americas cup off the Americans first on 27 September 1983 after 132 years of domination, if you come to Brisbane, there is a small navel museum that has pink lady, which is the youngest woman 16 years old (Jessica Watson ) to sail around the world single-handedly, and they also have the last steam powered tug on display with a few other bits and pieces it’s not as good as that New Zealand Museum but I think it’s well worth the look Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺

Hey James - did you realise you caught Michael McKean on camera at 10:05? He's coming out of the boat shop. A lead character in Better Call Saul and was in lots of other things like Billions. I'm 99.9% sure it's him!
