I get they have a schedule and all that, and it’s probably a pretty full schedule too, but I’d rather wait an entire extra week than have a missing member!
@@Quzga same, I really like the entire crew but Eric’s reactions are specifically what got me into Blind Wave and enjoying movies/tv shows more. And I’ve wanted him to react to Mike Flanagan stuff for so long!
He was in the next episode (on patreon), but yeah I think he would have had amazing reactions to this ep. I'd rather them skip a week if someone will miss one, I think everyone on patreon would be ok with this. Eric is such a highlight!
Looking at the name of each episode tells you the original story the episode is based on. The Black Cat is the name of this episode In the Black Cat story, there is a cat named Pluto and an addict named Napoleon… so you can assume this episode isn’t based on the Telltale heart 😉 It’s fun seeing you guys embracing the series in its comedy-horror genre. Thanks for another great video ✨
All of these are Poe stories or poems. But this one isn’t The Tale Tell Heart. This is The Black Cat. Camille’s death was from The Murders in the Rue Morgue and Perry’s was Masque of the Red Death. The mother’s death is similar to what happens in his story The Fall of the House of Usher. But don’t read that one yet if you don’t want to have a clue how the series will end.
This is an "adaptation" of "The Black Cat", which is similar to this story, the protagonist drunkenly kills his wife's cat, three days later, it reappears. The main difference is the ending, in the story the protagonist hunting the cat kills the wife... Not himself.
I think he was the most innocent of all the kids, didn't seem like that bad of a guy. But maybe I'm biased, been a huge fan of his since the Funhaus days on YT lol
Napoleon died that way because he’d rather not telling his boyfriend the truth about the cat, he chose to buy his way out of a simple situation And Verna gave him a lot of opportunities to choose right
Damn, each episode is better than the last and the way the storytelling manages to integrate Poe's stories into the lives of every character is truly exceptional
I highly recommend reading some Poe before finishing the series! The episodes are all named works of his, and there are lots of other references sprinkled in. Things are changed for the show of course but the themes are all VERY fitting. Pim is a reference too in a fun way 😏 As a big Poe fan, I really loved how they used and built on the originals.
All of the titles are named after the stories/etc, as is the show name. All of the names are either pulled directly from different Poe stories as main characters. Madeline and Roderick Usher are pulled from Fall of the House of Usher, Lenore is from a poem, Prospero is from Mask of the Red Death, etc. There are a lot of deep dives which should 100% be saved until after ya'll finish the show, because spoilers.
All of the Ushers are problematic in one way or another, but Leo did not deserve to be messed with this much before his death. Besides using the family money which everyone already does, not to mention he put it towards a non harmful business venture. The worst he has done was cheat on his boyfriend, that's it. He didnt kill the cat and (while he was throwing his weight around) he even offered to buy every single cat from the shelter and put them in a better shelter. Plus he is the only one to seem to care about the other siblings.
He wasn't outright evil, sure, but he wasn't great either. He cheats on his boyfriend in their own home and doesn't feel a shred of remorse, he routinely gets blackout drunk and drugged out to the point he remembers nothing, he supplies his friends and family with hard drugs on demand, he was going to dump Julius because Julius asked him to go easier on the huge amount of drugs he takes, and when he thinks he killed his boyfriend's cat he just covers it up. And ultimately he didn't get that terrible a death compared to some of the others- just some nasty cat scratches and a fall.
@@Scott-ql2kx Agree, Leo wasn’t as bad but his moral compass was off too. And he probably would have just died of a drug overdose if he hadn’t insisted on continuing to cover up his boyfriend’s cat’s death.
@@Scott-ql2kx He's definitely the best of a bad bunch, he never does anything outright illegal and he seems to be the only one of the Ushers who actually likes his siblings, since he's the only one to be saddened by Perry and Camille's deaths, and the previous episodes give him some nice moments with the pair of them, but yes, he is definitely still a scumbag like the rest of the family
It's almost like you didn't watch the previous reactions, they talk about that many times in the end discussions. Eric/aaron aren't as knowledgeable but Melanie mentions the references several times. I think you just misinterpreted their comment, I took it as to highlight HOW poe it is.

Damn i really wanted to see Eric's reaction to Pim this episode, Mark Hamill is killing it! My fav by far.

I pay for the patreon and I agree too. I love Eric's reactions, he gets so immersed! Feels like something is missing without him.

Aw man. Of all the ones for Eric to miss it has to be this one. He’s still watching to keep up, right? Great work guys. Excellent show and reactions.

You titled a post-reaction section as “That’s so Poe” when “That’s so Raven” is right there for the taking.

Yeah. The Telltale Heart is the *next* episode

Like a few on here, I feel this was the episode we might have got the best reaction out of Eric. All the geeky stuff in Rahul's flat.
"Camille is an interesting name" made me laugh real hard. 😂
As soon as I saw the awesome exposed brick they drywalled over, I was like yeah, Napoleon needs to die.
Napoleon's death is really sad because his drug addiction fueled his paranoia and he intentionally isolated himself, not opening about his problems.
I think he was the most innocent of all the kids, didn't seem like that bad of a guy. But maybe I'm biased, been a huge fan of his since the Funhaus days on YT lol
@Quzga no he really didn't deserve the tortured death. Verna was crueler to him than she should've been.
Cheated on his boyfriend@@Quzga
@@pamoweiberezi5315 which is bad but compared to his siblings it's nothing lmao

Snuff is ground up tobacco (Bridgerton.)
Tammy is a nickname for Tamerlane.
Two Battlestar Galactica veterans in this excellent episode.
25:44 Snuff is actually ground tobacco! It is not cocaine!
Queen Charlotte is indeed taking snuff. But there is such a thing as a coke spoon, too.

"It really is a Tell Tale Heart moment." Or a "The Black Cat" moment... hehehe
Watching three 80 year olds trying to explain surveillance technology to each other is hilarious
I never want to hear Aaron say she's got a "Cat Ding-a-ling" ever again lmao

This is such a spooky show, and perfect for October!
That line forever ruined the term "cuddle puddle".
This was not Tell Tale Heart, this was The Black Cat. Evident via the literal Black Cat
the long version of Tani is actually Tamerlane lol
Hihi ...They're reaching for that Telltale Heart-reference... Lovely :)
2:53 we would get along great girl 😂😂😂
The Goldbug - another story by E.A. Poe.
“Roderick U something…” Usher? lol
This was not The Tell-tale Heart
The original 2 are Tammy & Freddy.
Enhance
Not the telltale heart.
Yeah, that's next episode. This one was The Black Cat
No Eric for this is so disappointing!
Click this by mistake amd see Laura roslin 😮❤
"Very Edgar-Allen-Poe-y."
Gee, I wonder why... Not as if this series isn't basically the entirety of Poe's work. Ya'll knew that, right?
They literally talk at length about the specific Poe references in this video, though they do mistake which story this one is based on

What the hell is this sound at 36:28 ?
Everytime they do Flanagan reactions the set seems to be haunted...
Sounds like that generic Chinese SFX you hear in old movie trailers whenever they showed Asia lmao
noooooooo bring me ERICCCCCC
the character in the tell-tale heart is unnamed (just an unreliable narrator).
Epispde 5 was roo much for me, i dont think I can watch you guys watch it xD
