    Nice video Bullitt. I had my Massey 1533 for 10 years before I added the grapple and it is absolutely well worth every penny. If anyone is considering a grapple, go with the 3rd function. You'll love your tractor even more. Thanks for video.

    You explained the differences very well. Thank you. I was beginning to think having my third function factory installed was a waste of money and no better than an diverted. Now so glad I did, will make using the grapple much better I think.

      I'm not a fan of a rear remote for a "3rd function" on the loader.

  • @chrisbennett4563
    @chrisbennett4563 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    With the diverter valve can you use either two functions of the three or do you have to reroute hoses to do the two functions of choice

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The divertor just takes one function of the loader and splits it. So if the divertor was on the curl function I could either curl or open/ close the grapple and I could still raise or lower the loader at the same time. Instead of having 4 hoses for your loader you would have 6.

    Thanks for the video. After 7 years of thinking about it, I've finally decided its time to get a grapple. My issue is that I have arthritis in my right thumb, so I'm going to have to take that into consideration when I choose between the diverter valve and the third function. I could add a simple transfer switch and then add secondary foot switches on the left side of the cab next to the brakes (for when I thumb gets tired). I just have to first decide how complicated I want to make it.... One switch (diverter) or two (third function).

    • @TractorTech

    I really do appreciate this video on the 3rd function valve. I have a question if you can please advise me. I have a Kubota L series L4701 tractor purchase last November 2021. I have been told Kubota does not make the heavier steel lines and joy stick switch like you have for my L4701 tractor. I really do not like the cheaper looking 3rd function valve kit. No steel lines and the joy stick switch (knob) is really doesn't look durable and has not "on" green light button. Can you help direct me to the type heavy duty 3rd function valve kit please? Thank you for helping. Steve

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be costly but, you could but a 3rd function valve, your own joystick, and have a hydraulic shop make steel lines for the loader.

    • @TractorTech

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but with the 3rd function, it is either on or off. It will be hard to make small adjustments. Flow resistors in the hoses of the top link will help.

  • @wf4919
    @wf4919 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So basically the 3rd function allows movement of all things at the same time....where as the diverter valve "diverts" hyd flow to one function or another...only allowing 2 functions at a time vice 3? So if I have a grapple.....3rd fuction means I can raise, clamp down, and rotate the tines all at the same time. With a diverter valve.....you could raise/lower and either clamp or rotate the tines. Is this a correct assessment?

    Just wondering.......has anyone considered an electric 12v hydrolic 2 way pump with its own remote to attach to tractor joy stick to control hands of grapple.....some are rated at more lbs that the tractor can lift .......not sure if it will just screw into cylinder of grapple.....one cylinder probably will work best

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could do that, but it would be costly. You would also have another hydraulic system to maintain. Electric pumps are not as reliable as mechanical pumps.

  • @Ramdodge582
    @Ramdodge582 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    you could do a proportional 3rd function if you wanted to feather... though i don't see why, if you need it slower install a restriction washer.

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably could change the wiring, but if the hydraulic connections are wrong, and you hook another attachment up to it, then it will be wrong. The top quick disconnect on my tractor is the male quick disconnect. On the attachment the female quick disconnect goes to the rod end of the cylinder.

    I’m not a fan of the separate grapples and twin rams I do not like the delay each have it is much better to have one ram and single grapple, in my opinion of course, Informative video for the lay person not overly complicated as many content producers tend to do.

  • @TheEaglesvisions

    Few questions if thats ok;-) first is on your grapple i notice you have 2 jaws operating by themselves, do you find them problematic in any operation instead of the all one top jaw? the other is what is the make of your grappler? Thanks for explaining the third function so well that's the way i will go, I have a b26, also did you add that back up camera yourself? and what type is that , boy that would help alot where I am tight spaces;-) great channel much peace Brother Brian

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 lids are better for a wide grapple. They clamp an uneven load better. The grapple is a Everything Attachments Wicked Root grapple. I'd kind of like to have a root rake grapple. I think it would work better for my uses, and the Everything Attachments root rake would be my top choice.
