My local library won't even accept CDs and DVDs as donations. They haven't for years, which I found very short-sighted, but maybe it was due to trying to keep up with the right disc going into the sleeves and folders. Anyway, I've probably given away well over a hundred mostly classical music. I used to belong to one of those 'record clubs'. Then I found a local charity books store and they were happy to take them. I don't have any record shops in my area, but I do have thrift stores and flea markets in my area, which are great places to buy CDs for dirt cheap. Yard/garage sales and estate sales as well. My local Salvation Army thrift store sells CDs for 99 cents, and on Wednesdays, everything's half off, so I only pay 50 cents. Sometimes, I even come across CDs that are unopened.
I remember going to the Great Escape at their original location on Division back the 80s- back then it was records, tapes and comic books. When they started getting CDs there were only enough to fill a milk crate sized box they kept on the counter near the cash register. I live in Murfreesboro and used to love going to the Good Will on Memorial to check out their CDs. Now I have to go clear across Nashville to McKays to find cheap CDs.

I went to some thrift shops in Des Moines Iowa, not much selection unfortunately. Probably all be scalped. I am looking for a portable cd player couldn't really find anything. I found mostly "best of" cds. I got some Phil Collins, Willie nelson, best of the eagles, meatloaf, I got a beejees cd..... Trying to get back into CDs... My 06 Civic has a cd player luckily so I can listen to tunes while driving. At the thrift stores they were about $1.50 for a CD, or if blue they were buy one get one... Oddly Walmart still sells some CDs they were about $5-12 for a cd. Walmart doesn't seem to sell any portable cd players though...

Us physical media fans in the UK are quite lucky. Many charity shops sell 5 X CDs for £1 Inc tax so as you can imagine it's difficult not to hoard them 😊

I just picked up Tigerlilly for dirt cheap, used, but in perfect condition! As a used CD hunter, I continually find buried treasure, on the cheap! Good haul. My favorite Nirvana is "In Utero," but "Incesticide" is worth having for Kurt Cobain's liner notes alone. He tells all the cretinous frat bros who were coming to their shows after "Nevermind" to go away and stop buying their music. I'd never seen a popular musician do that before. Basically, he's addressing the same bigots he'd sung about on "In Bloom": "He's the one who likes all our pretty songs/And he likes to sing along/And he likes to shoot his gun/But he knows not what it means..." It was around this time that I saw Nirvana at an arena show (I'd previously only seen them only in clubs and small theaters) where some in the crowd cheered and laughed during "Polly," so I understood what he was talking about...
Yeah I’m sure no one is interested in that Motley Crue, they’ve only sold over 100 million CDs worldwide, more than pretty much all the bands you just showed, combined. Lol Also, that Faster Pussycar album, Whipped, is the shit! 🤘🏼
What is the appeal of CDs with high-fidelity streaming available? Other than for internet outages. I still have a few CDs but I'm more into vinyl. I get that CDs are far cheaper than most records but I'm struggling to get on the CD train.
Great question! First, this is all personal preference and to me, there isn't one perfect way to consume music be it vinyl, streaming, cd, cassette, etc. I just love shopping for physical media and I find it hard to determine what I want to listen to while streaming at home. I still use streaming in my car and find it wonderful and I also use it to learn about new artists as well. But there are days when I just want to dig around in an old school record store and buy some physical media!
That’s Capps all streaming apps are garbage with low quality sound 😅😅😅😅 only cds 💿 will always have better sound quality than streaming everyone knows that 🙏🙏🙏💽💽💽📀📀🤟🤟💿💿
@@tmdillon1969 streaming has it's own disadvantages: 1. Not everything on streaming 2. They can remove an artist you love in any time 3. Sound quality isn't as perfect as they claim 4. How long you will pay for subscription? 10 years, 20, 50 years? Now try to sum the expenses and you still own nothing. About vinyl vs CDs. Well vinyl collection is totally fine, but now new records are overpriced and overhyped. And I do believe good mastering on CD isn't worse than on LP. There are bad mastered CDs unfortunately.
@@antonsiberian eh. I have a CD transport and DAC. I also stream and collect vinyl. The sound quality on Tidal vs CD running through the DAC is pretty much identical. CDs just don't hold it for me. For physical formats, vinyl is my go-to. And then I stream for convenience. I have the CD for the few I have left and that's about it. I could care less about the subscription because I use it for streaming in the car and podcasts anyway.

i love the fact your out buying and showing what you get, cool thanks, but my god $6.99 for those? no way, cds like that i can easily find here in canada for a .50-1.00,.. though not interested in that kinda stuff,. i’ve been in the cd business for 37/38 yrs and have around 20,000 most of which are bands and recordings from 1975-1989,. best versions, rarest versions, japanese versions, no greatest hits,.. do you find cds on labels from Bad reputation, Rock candy, MRC (melodicrock classics), iconoclassic, wounded bird, japanese shm or blu-spec, stuff like that?
In thrift stores here in Norway you can buy CDs from 5-10 NOK, that is 0,5-1 USD. Often 3 for 2 USD or 5 for 3 USD, so it`s very cheap. I buy and sell a lot of CDs, and visit several thrift stores every week. My number one and only advice when buying CDs is to check the media quality, always check the disc(s)!!!! I only buy CDs with mint discs. Because there is a lot of crappy and dirty CDs with scratches for sale, and they are worth about 0,0 in any currency.

Yeah I’m sure no one is interested in that Motley Crue, they’ve only sold over 100 million CDs worldwide, more than pretty much all the bands you just showed, combined. Lol
Also, that Faster Pussycar album, Whipped, is the shit! 🤘🏼
That Judgment Night soundtrack has some bangers on it.
Agreed!
Get em cheap. While ya can !!!!!!!
Amen
I ❤buying CDs. Used and New.... CDs rule .
Same. Thanks for watching!
That’s Capps all streaming apps are garbage with low quality sound 😅😅😅😅 only cds 💿 will always have better sound quality than streaming everyone knows that 🙏🙏🙏💽💽💽📀📀🤟🤟💿💿
@@RobertQuant sure....ok.
@@tmdillon1969 streaming has it's own disadvantages:
1. Not everything on streaming
2. They can remove an artist you love in any time
3. Sound quality isn't as perfect as they claim
I got extremely lucky one day at Goodwill and got a ton of metal cd I spent 100$ and I’m talking Megadeth Metallica, iron maiden Black Sabbath, Ozzy suicidal tendencies black flag that just a few that I remember the whole time I was going through them i was saying this isn’t real I’m dreaming right what’s happening lol
Awesome!

Thanks for tagging along!
i love the fact your out buying and showing what you get, cool thanks,
but my god $6.99 for those?
no way, cds like that i can easily find here in canada for a .50-1.00,.. though not interested in that kinda stuff,.
i’ve been in the cd business for 37/38 yrs and have around 20,000 most of which are bands and recordings from 1975-1989,. best versions, rarest versions, japanese versions, no greatest hits,..
do you find cds on labels from Bad reputation, Rock candy, MRC (melodicrock classics), iconoclassic, wounded bird, japanese shm or blu-spec,
stuff like that?
Yeah, prices vary but I'm seeing CDs increase so I'm excited you are still finding them for cheap!
Thank you for watching and sharing!
I love me some cheap physical media.

If you want to have somd highly collectable CDs you should Collect stuff from the wide world of Juggalos and ICP. Most CDs i can find for sale are going for $30-$400 dollars if not more. I really regret selling my stuff in the early 2000s i never thought CDs would ever go out of style. Bug mistake.
Oh yeah I’ve sold some ICP stuff for a pretty high price. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Some of us have been doing this in the UK for over 10 years....
