Why Winning $1,000,000 on Minute to Win It Is Almost Impossible

  • Despite being on the air for two seasons and giving contestants plenty of chances to play Supercoin, Minute to Win It never saw its top prize of a million dollars claimed. Let's revisit why completing the show's Supercoin challenge (and therefore winning the million) is almost impossible.

    If the NBC version of Minute to Win It had a 3rd season, they should've made the Supercoin jug hole a little bigger.

    There was one episode with a contestant named Mark; it was his second appearance after he previously left with nothing. In that second episode, the Level 8 blueprint was shown BEFORE he opted to leave with $125,000; he was down to his last life before making the decision to leave the show.
    Also from my understanding, Supercoin was successful in Venezuela and the contestant in that country was a Top Prize Winner.
    Now I myself wanted to be a contestant on this show, as using household items makes some of the games very fun and challenging to play, but sadly I never applied.

    • @guyfierimtwi
      @guyfierimtwi ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Correct. I think they only showed Mark the blueprint because they wanted drama or they just wanted him to make his decision already. Probably the former.

    So basically, that super coin game asks the contestant to do a trickshot like the ones we see on Tik Tok that take hours to pull off, in one minute.
    This has to be the closest a gameshow has been to the actual impossible.

    An Afghan guy has beaten the top prize as well and he had Supercoin too. His name is unknown and footage is maybe so hardcore to find, that he got in Wikipedia top prize winners but with a citation needed mark. I have a video that has his rare image which is also with the same date of claimed top prize win in Afghanistan: June 20, 2014!
    Also there was 5 Star, a Myanmar comedian group. They won the top prize but on Bottle Necking not Supercoin. They were on winners list in Wikipedia before but got deleted from it maybe because footage is gone...

    I can see myself being able to complete the super coin challenge, but i'd require more than 60 seconds to do it. So can i complete the challenge? Sure, can i complete it on the game show? No the 60 second time limit wouldnt be enough time for me

  • @guyfierimtwi
    @guyfierimtwi ปีที่แล้ว +5

    A video on me! wait jk lol. I could make probably voiceover videos on this show, but I'm not confident enough in my speaking to do so.
    TL;DR Later/bottom of the post(click read more)
    But to be real with you(as the mega-superfan that I am):
    Supercoin is hard. It is insanely hard on a stage, beating 9 other difficult challenges beforehand which get exponentially more difficult & maybe even having to risk something knowing it's going to be level 10. You can practice all you want & get good, but even with 190 seconds, you still need a little luck & hope on your side.
    While game shows should be about increasing difficulty at higher prize levels, it needs to be said that it's better to have LINEAR difficulty, not EXPONENTIAL, unless it's a safety net level or something... but there's a point to it(a few of the really high-level challenges have this problem) of having this
    LUCK problem because to NBC(or the game designers), UNPREDICTABLITY = difficulty. Game shows like MTWI, it's all about muscle memory. Also, the games list always kept growing and you only at most had 1 week of PROFESSIONAL practice. Apolo Ohno even confirmed that some of the games have LUCK in an interview.
    Millionare had the "You know it or you don't problem, reasoning it out might help, but it probably won't" problem later down the line as you mentioned.
    Minute to Win It was advertised as "Who has the nerves of steel to conquer all 10 games?" when in reality it's more like...
    "You can do most/all of these games, but LUCK screwed you over." problem. "Also, you broke this rule, and that rule, and you're up to play next?"
    There are also top prize winners in other countries, but I doubt any of them faced supercoin. Oh yeah also they had a host nail supercoin and never got a dime(he lost a quarter lol)
    ----------------------- Opinion
    Also great point at 2:24. 250K bank was necessary. "Risking $25K to win $50K at the level after that, I could even see. But risking $75K to win $125K was a pretty blatant "are you farking insane?" point, and nobody in their right MIND was going to risk $200K to win $250K."
    Level 8 was the farthest anyone made it in the first 8 episodes(DARK smoke machines era) and the person who made it to level 8 would've seen level 9 if LUCK didn't screw her over.
    I won't ramble on GSN's version, but it's so downright BORING after you watch one episode. The farthest anyone made it was level 9 and even then it was only played a total of 4 times total.
    Finally, the audience members just sucked cause they didn't how to play the game really. In the credits it says they practiced the game once or twice beforehand but they just sucked still.
    TL;DR
    This Facebook comment from a long time ago sums it all up quite well.
    When the show first aired, people were ecstatic because you didn't need to know obscure facts to win a ton of money, you just needed "skill." While many of the games do a great job of requiring skill to complete, a few, still require dumb luck to win. Supercoin is a level all on its own and Get Forked is a good idea, it's almost as egregious a game as Supercoin, and I think it makes a good substitute for Supercoin as the million dollar game, should someone beat it. Go back to "skill" for the high-tier games, but make the skill more demanding. Try Extreme Nutstaker(stack metal nuts on each other while holding a plate). Uphill Battle was a great half million game, do that in the future. Get Forked=Supercoin. NIGH IMPOSSIBLE.
