This was filmed a while ago before everything went to shit😅 Kinda nice to look back and remember what it was like to be able to travel freely like that. Anyways, I do hope you enjoy the video and maybe get some new ideas for future Japan travel plans🌿💕Stay safe everyone🙏
This was such a good day and we were SO LUCKY with the weather! I wanna go back for more gelato! Hope things clear up and we get to have a nice day together again sometime within the year. (T_T)
Hey sharla since we are all stuck inside maybe you could do a video on Japanese delivery food. Since thats pretty much what everyone is eating right now 😂
@@sharlainjapan OMG! Lmao, my friend, Starr (from New York), lives in Korea w/her hubby. She missed "real" pizza so much! They live in the country. She said it was horrible!😆 A real pizza place opened b4 the crap started. She was so excited, they ate there every night for a week. She loved it! Her hubby is Korean, he didn't love it!😆😂 I would miss Taco's!
This came at the perfect time! I live in South Africa, where we’ve just gone into lockdown and it’s lovely to have entertainment to pass the time 😂. I hope all is well! 🥰
I lived in Kitakyushu for 10 years so this was lovely to see. My father-in-law is from Yamaguchi and my mother-in-law is from Moji-co even more exciting to see.
It is amazing how temps differ even with a small travel north. My family is in Orlando, and me in Gainesville... G'ville is not too far north, but the chilly weather is more than Orlando. Still amazes me.
So exited so see Northern Kyushu featured in a vlog! I was an exchange student in Kitakyushu back in 2016 and I miss it so much 😢 Used to visit Riverwalk and 0CM sandwich factory almost every weekend with my friends.
I am now excited about yet another location in Japan, contributing to the increasingly impossible dilemma of how many places I can reasonably visit when I finally go there. I also really really want one of those sakura cocktail/sangria things.
This is actually such a great idea for Kyushu! Most of the best sightseeing is kind of inconvenient to get to without a car, so this is a great option for visitors who don’t want to rent a car
I did more or less the same tour by public transportation from Hiroshima back in 2011, but with one major difference: there was hardly anyone anywhere! I went to the fish market, got me some fugu and ate it on one of those benches near the water, while thinking that if there would be something wrong with the fugu, it might take some time before they would find me :-) But I also had a great time there. I took the earliest shinkansen to get to the fish market as early as possible, then also walked trough that tunnel to Mojiko, and spent the rest of the day there. Some interesting food to try there is kawara soba, noodles served on a blazing hot roof tile. For railway enthusiasts, right next to Mijoki Station is the JR Kyushu Railway Museum, which is pretty nice. Also, during another trip I visited nearby Kokura for a few hours, unfortunately the manga museum was closed that day, but the blast furnace of Yawata Steel Works was pretty impressive. I feel this area of Kyushu (and the whole of Chugoku west of Hiroshima) is a bit overlooked by everyone going straight to Fukuoka, but it actually has quite a lot to offer.
Hey Sharla, Thanks for the video of days gone by...hope you are staying safe. Enjoyed hearing your Canadian accent with words like “about”...it’s so Canadian! I used to live across the river from Windsor, Ontario in Michigan and I’m part Canadian. 🇨🇦 Love Japan, had an opportunity to live in Tokyo for a few months last year. I can’t wait to go back again.
It's so beautiful! It's definitely a life long mission for me to visit Japan at some point. I love seeing videos like yours that give a insight into what life is like there! lovely video 👍
Nice video. I was surprised by the translation in the taxi, I thought it was going to be machine translation but it was a real person! Stay safe and don't play too much AC.
We were meant to be in Fukuoka this month. Thankyou for posting this. Now we can plan an even better holiday And include some of your fantastic tips for when everything is better
Japan has so many cool things to eat over there. I wish they would have stores in the USA that carry this stuff. I always love to try new and weird stuff. Loved the video.
Thank you for sharing this with us~! We are in Vancouver, and so far, there are no restrictions moving around the city although the streets kind of look like a ghost town from all the people self - quarantining. At grocery stores there are pieces of tape on the floors 6 ft apart leading toward the checkouts to maintain social distancing. Almost all the stores have put up tall plexiglass screens to protect the cashiers - and a lot of places are no longer accepting cash ( in case of contamination ) Buses are 'rear boarding only' to help protect the drivers. Other measures along these lines are being implemented wherever you go. I hope you are feeling well, and please remember to wear a mask every time you go out in public, and washing/ sanitizing your hands is essential.
great relaxing vlog Sharmeleon, TH-cam recommended me your content so I m here to take a look. Northern Kyushu is really fun to watch, hope you would go down south and explore other Kyushu cities such as Kumamoto and Kagoshima next time 😃
I’ve been to Kumamoto and Kagoshima, loooooved them!! Think there might be some clips in my end of year video from 2019🤔 Anyways welcome to my channel :D
It´s cool that even being vegan you continue to show all the diferent foods that Japan has to offer in your videos, and that gelatto omg, it looked soooo good, can´t wait to be able to get out from home and hang out and buy some at my fav place.
That taxi you and Michaela got into had the fanciest lace seat covers I'd ever seen :P I don't think a British taxi driver would risk having such fancy needlework in their cab.
You went to Shimonoseki!?😆 I’ve been watching your videos since a few years ago and I had to comment on this video for the first time! I’m from Japan but I’ve been living in Canada for 7 years. I used to go to the university in Shimonoseki 10 years ago and work in the Karato fish market every weekend!🐟 The funny thing is that you guys actually got sushi and the blow fish soup from the store I used to work😂! I’m glad you picked the store even though it is pretty expensive. I used to love Mojoko retro too! Aww thank you Sharla and Micaela❤️ That brings back memories.
Matcha face mask is an amazing idea: I found some out of date matcha in the cupboard the other day and was sad to have wasted it. Thank you for the tip!
The moment when you stood in two prefectures at once reminded me of an episode in Detective Conan, in which Kogoro (Ran‘s dad) was being really smug about standing there :D He was like „Can you believe it? The great Kogoro standing in two prefectures at ONCE!!!“
Great seeing you take the Shinkansen, but a small warning for tourists buying a JR Pass. They are not cheap. Before you buy one, check the trips you are thinking of making by train and check their price. Add them up and then decide of a JR pass is a good choice. Also note that for long distance travel (e.g. Tokyo to Fukuoka) you cannot use the Nozomi and Mizuho service with this pass but you have to take the slower services on the same lines. A good website to check trips and prices on is hyperdia. Or use Google Maps.
Hans The other problem is that they have been increasing the number of Nozomi and correspondingly decreasing the number of slower trains. Generally Hikari are now once every hour.
I haven’t even properly started watching this yet. I had to come here to say how incredible your little animation at the start is! She even looks like you! 😍👏🏽
that was a very cool and interesting video! I never knew these taxi tours exist :O Looks very fun :D Im looking forward to new videos as usual :D Greetings from Germany :3

Stay safe
I always thought old japanese architecture was awesome. But I'm pretty boring... lol
Okay that makes sense, because I was pretty concerned about why people were going out without a mask or something- not that they help anyway.
Where are the references?
We’re all going to get through this. Stay safe everyone.

I would buy the sakura cocktail bottles in a heartbeat even though I seldom drink alcohol. It's so unique and the packaging is nice too.
