I have these taps in my house and the cartridges have broken in about 4 separate taps now. I always come back to this video each time as a reminder of how to do it!
Thank you so much! This helped me repair my jammed tap! Cleaned and lubricated it now and it works as new! Saved atleast a 1000 rupees for calling a plumber!
Or a 2.5mm allen key in my case. After 10 years that chrome shroud can be a nightmare to shift, beware it is only plastic under the chrome. Just a thorough clean up and reassembly seems to have done the job.
Easy and clear instructions thanks very much. Leak was at base of lever. Feeling very manly now, off to put up an IKEA shelving and eat some meat....!!
I have one very similar ,when I remove the grub screw, the handle is frozen on and I am reluctant to pull to hard incase I rip the nylon peg off the cartridge, any got any ideas? appreciated thanks
This is realy helpful. Do you know the name of tool to remove/take out the cartridge ? My sink's tap/ faucet make is Lota that normal spaner does not open it.
The tool to remove LOTA type cartriden can be seen here , but does any one know what the name and where to get it th-cam.com/video/BtleLrHM2xA/w-d-xo.html
Looks like this is all brand new never used stuff and we never saw it working !!!!! most people are doing this on an old tap and fail at the first bit, getting the handle off ,if they manage that the shroud is often stuck with scale , the easy cartridge change then becomes a plumber and a new tap
Yeah, our tap had limescale in various places, I probably should have used descaler or some spray, but I just cut through it with a Stanley knife. 😆 Had to be careful.
Put an electrical heat shrink on the handle that way you can go at it with pliers without scratching the chrome. If you haven't got a heat shrink then electrical tape or better duct tape.
HI Mate, I've got that same problem as your last comment. Grub screw is out, still stuck. I wonder if there's an inner/outer grub screw? Or original plumber glued the bloody thing?! We have 3 of these in the house, and they look precisely like your one here in the video. The others seem to work normally... this one's a challenge so far :)! Any ideas? A second screw within??
i cant get remove the lever handle, i have tried so many times, i dont know whether it is rusted or calcified. tried wd40 but that didnt help too. no sort of wrench or pliers is able to twist it open... any ideas?
Mine was stuck too. Slip joint pliers worked, but it scratches the chrome; I didn’t care that it did and fixed the tap (didn’t have to replace anything), but if you do care then you’ll have to find another way to remove the handle…
Hello, I have 2 lever taps in my upstairs bathroom sink, one tap for hot water and another tap for cold water. The hot tap is dripping and I want to change the cartridge inside. The problem is that I cannot twist the lever off to get to the tap. Any ideas?
Hmm, try searching TH-cam for a tap that looks similar, if this one is not very similar. Our tap has a similar function and parts to the tap in this video, even though the lever looks different. So, success. Maybe there is a hidden screw requiring an Allen key?

Just change the taps bud
Finally one that shows a repair, not just taking it apart and putting it back together! Exactly what I was thinking of doing (descaling) thanks

I followed this video to the letter & managed to remove the cartridge successfully. Excellent!

Is there a trick to twist off the handle? Mine is very tight.
Of course all of those shrouds come off that easy after they’ve been on there for over 10 years!
And wha’ appens when you can’t get t’ bloody shroud off
Exactly! Ended up getting a new tap
So you can clean the thing & put it back on? I was thinking it would be in need of replacing!
What do you do if your handle is like glued on. So lost

Thanks - very helpfull - would be nice to know the size of cartridge in case we have to replace?
Thank you for sharing this tutorial, is detailed and easily understandable. Cheers!
Cannot not remove the lever handle because cannot get the pin to turn. Is there a way to unscrew the pin, please.
Used elastic to unscrew corrosive thread
How often should this be done?

I can't undo the tap head lever on my freestanding tap. How do you undo one without damage to the chrome? Mine is stuck.
Put an electrical heat shrink on the handle that way you can go at it with pliers without scratching the chrome. If you haven't got a heat shrink then electrical tape or better duct tape.
Thank you, you have saved me £75

Would i need to turn the water off if I am just taking the tops off as plumber put them on the wrong way round?
Just switch the "HOT" & "COLD" nuts!
Leaver handle won’t unscrew if when used WD40
thank you very much but my cartridge is stuck and will NOT cone out ,any ideas?
I sent on a different video if this happens u can try Turing the water back on a a sec the water pressure may dislodge it prepare to get a little wet
Any solving?

I have the same problem. Did you manage to remove the lever handle? How?
Sometime the screw is behind the little hot/cold indicator on the tap not the lever .

Is it possible to add flow reduction to this unit?
Thanks, leak sorted for £4.67
Cheers dude this worked a treat
Nope, top doesn’t come off when removing the screw

Oh! That was 6 years ago!
Really good video
Excellent, thanks.
*Great and lightweight*
Thank you so much
Thanks, really helped!
May I know what's the model # of this catridge? Mine's broken and needs to replace.
Gas, just take the broken cartridge to a plumbing place and ask them.
Greeting from Australia.
Thank you .
thank you
Axon taps
Thanks so much
