We can't wait to share the next 3 days of this roadtrip with Sagres Vacation! This is a very unique way to travel as you have your own, super cool, personal guide who will always take you to the best places and at the same time know all the things you usually won't have a clue about. It's a much more rewarding way to be a tourist, as you aren't really a tourist that makes typical tourist mistakes. See you in the next one, where we eat a DEADLY and delicious francesinha! 😍
@Justin Case - Sagres Vacations is the name of the company we work with. It has nothing to do with Sagres in Algarve although I do agree it's a beautiful place! :)
Great Job Guys, amazing video, all of us at Sagres Vacations are excited for you to show the world the best of Portugal, through our unique experiences and our private curated tours. Excited about the next videos...
You should go to a small village called Vista Alegre just 15 minutes from Aveiro. Its where the famous Vista Alegre porcelans came from. The factory is there. They have a museum and a beautiful church. The village is very preety with pittoresque houses.👍
I've been living in the district of Aveiro for 34 years.. I love going to Costa Nova and Barra. Mu paternal family come from Porto. Both Aveiro and Porto are amazing.
I am blown away by not only your amazing videos but also by your incredible fluency in English. I know that in Denmark and in other Scandinavian countries, English is taught early to kids but your level is so impressive. I can't wait to go back to Portugal. I had 2 trips planned to go there this year and of course because of the pandemic, I had to postpone. So these videos are great to see and give me ideas of other places to visit. Muito obrigado e um abraço.
Haha this makes me so happy! I am american/portuguese. My family is from aveiro. My favorite memories was in Praia da barra, we would walk down the paradão at night to the lighthouse. Ovos moles❤ tripas with canela... forum. Praça da peixe... my grandparents house. Love it! 🇵🇹 🇵🇹 🇵🇹 🇵🇹
I kept telling you to come to Aveiro. I never got any reply. Then, you made a video saying what places you still wanted to visit. Aveiro wasn't on the list and I lost the hope that I still had. Now this vlog comes out of nowhere and it is great to see that you liked it.
I you two or should I say you three. On this particular adventure, your tourist guide, my Country man or Country mate like the British would say, seems to be a very nice person, speaks very fluent English, and proves that we Portuguese, are mainly genuinely, generous, friendly and treat our guests (tourists and foreign residents) with respect like if they were part of our own family, congratulations to him. I loved that catchphrase: "Nun of your business" well done Amalie. Enjoy the rest of the adventure.
you can also have the codfish aquarium in Ílhavo, the beaches of Torreira, Costa Nova, Furadouro, Ovar... then down the coast to Mira, Tocha, Figueira da Foz, Luso, Buçaco, Montemor-o-Velho....
Joen and Amelia, you already know so much about our Portugal... fun fact is that you, one of these days, know a lot more about our country, that you will be the ones to recommend this and that place and city that most Portuguese people don't know. If you ever leave Portugal, you can go, but on the condition that, one day, you will return. love U
I stayed with some friends for a couple weeks in Aveiro. It's a lovely city! Coimbra was also a highlight of my stay with them. This video brings back some great memories. :)
In Aveiro you have to try the Tripa, it's a famous kind of dessert, that looks like a mixture of a crepe and an american cookie... it's like a pillow and it's filled with anything you want, ovos moles, nuttela, etc...
Nice video, guys. But, you missed the lighthouse in Praia da Barra, which is just the 3rd highest in Europe. It actually makes drones redundant. :) While In Aveiro, next time, amongst many other things, learn more about the locals “cagaréus” and “ceboleiros”, the sweet “tripa” and the “licor de alguidar”. The town has a very unique vibe and the quality of living is huge. By the way, “Ovos Moles de Aveiro” is the 1st european conventual sweet to have become certified. :) Glad you enjoyed my town!
You should have visited the light house at Barra, although it's not open every day. You could have also gone to the "Passadiços da Ria", about 2km of walkways next to the lagoon. Alternatively, you could have crossed the ferry boat to São Jacinto which is a nice little town in a peninsula.
Aveiro is so beautiful, there are a lot of places in Portugal that are not very famous but are sooooo beautiful. Valença do Minho, Arrábida beaches(portinho da Arrábida, praia dos galapinhos) , passadiços do paiva (In Arouca Aveiro), Sesimbra, Almeida fortness, and so much more are so many hidden places 😍you will love aveiro
Epic scenery footage! I was also under the same impression for Aveiro as you guys, but this has changed my mind and I will definitely visit it one of these days.
Aveiro is amazing, it has lots of little secrets here and there 😊 I am so glad they finally have an idea about it. But it deserves a deeper insight. GO there yes!!
the reasom those houses have stipes is because in the old days ,fishermen used straw as the main building material.Slowly, wooden boards became more available ,but "junco " were still widely used;in fact ,as long as there was straw in the building ,taxes were low or they were inexistent .
I’m watching “Caught in a Storm” on my big screen. Am really enjoying your videos. You are both adorable! I am older than you (61) and am thinking of leaving California and moving to Portugal. Your videos are wonderful!
Aveiro is indeed a lovely place to go and i love it! São Martinho do Porto is one of my favourite beaches in Portugal where i had the pleasure to enjoy even rowing boats! It was my first beach i ever went to, so it really brings me a long time back! Great work.
Aveiro is my favourite city in Portugal. Great video and thank you for mentioning me on your last video. My wife and I got a good kick out of it. thank you.
Your videos are always with such great quality. Thanks for showing our beautiful country to the world. And when i mean "ours" and mean yours too. ;) Thx for showing so many things that even i didn't knew about. You're a cute couple, i wish you all the hapiness!

Just need to send a private message here in youtube :). Have a good day, enjoy!
Thank you for doing a video on Aveiro. Most TH-cam videos of this city just show shot after shot of the boats. I am considering moving to Aveiro in two years and I would like to see more of the city than just the touristy stuff. Please do a week-long stay so I can see more!
Nice video guys. I imagine Joel will need his own vacation after baby sitting you guys for 4 days. I got to see places I have only seen on maps. Looking forward to seeing more videos from this area.
OMG! You’re in my district! You gotta visit Esmoriz! There is an amazing wooden boards along the dunes and beach! And there’s a green park too that used to be a treatment water plant!

It's a very traditional place (no reservations nor anything like that) but if you have the chance, you should check it out.
Hello Amalie and Joen, most part of my family is from Vale de Cambra, pretty close to Aveiro. Unlike Aveiro Vale de Cambra has a lot of montains and it is very beautiful as well, food and wines, specially green wines, are very good, if you have the time Vale de Cambra is a good place to visit. Best regards from David Quental

I have been re watching all the vlogs you have done since lock down, and a subriber for 2 years almost. I don't think you have mentioned this beach I would like to recommend. Two years ago My husband and I stayed at Hotel Concha there in San Martinho do Porto. I have lots of family that live in this area and Caldas do Rainha. The beach that is near by I would recommend checking is Foz do Arelho. I mean, I ave some serious baby brain now and very forgetful but I'm pretty sure you haven't seen this beach. It truly is such a beautiful area. Just google it to see some nice images. I made a Portugal vlog and had some shots of it as well. Just wish I brought the drone to really capture its beauty. xoxoxox

Thank you both. By the way, I met you both in the Lisbon airport after spending a wondrous few days in Madeira and on my way back to Barcelona. I used your App guide to drive around and discover some fine dining experiences. I can see you both put alot of work into this. At your recommendation, I am contacting Sagres Vacations to see what 1 or 2 day package they can offer to explore parts of the Silver Coast. I am also looking at discovering the potential of relocating to Aveiro. I love Porto as well. I just don't know if I want to do another city that is prone to or may become a victim of over-tourism as I currently experience in Barcelona.
