One of the more commonly asked questions is what is the difference between pepper spray and pepper
gel and which one should I use? The answer to this question entirely depends on one’s preference and
potential scenarios of use. Both are effective and a great option but do have some key differences that factor into decision making.
Pepper Spray is a highly reactive option that causes intense burning that lasts up to 45 seconds. The spray can reach up to a 12ft radius and can cover more ground with the way it spreads out. Very
effective in situations where there are multiple threats being faced. A downside of it spreading out is the
risk of cross contamination. If used outside and going against the wind, some of the spray can also backfire on self or on bystanders.
Pepper Gel is a great option to avoid cross contamination risk on self or bystanders. Gel more acts as a
blindfold and reacts once initiated. It is typically initiated when being rubbed or touched to remove. The more contact with the gel the higher the burn level. Gel also has a slightly higher range than spray covers a radius of 18ft. Keep in mind, that gel is a targeted spray though, meaning if your aim is not precise there is a risk of it missing it’s target.

Regarding 2:12 in this video, Amer Hatoum is incorrect when he says that pepper spray causes intense burning that can last up to ”45 seconds”. Instead pepper spray contains Capsacin as its active ingredient which causes a burning sensation that can last up to 45 minutes.

@@videogazer801 Pepper Spray is better than Pepper Gel, because Pepper Spray is less viscous and acts faster than Pepper Gel. Users need to be aware of the wind direction which could divert the pepper spray or blow it back towards the user. If it is raining, this could dilute the potency of pepper spray. Pepper Spray is also effective against vicious dogs, coyotes, wolves and cougars. However, to deter a bear or an unruly mob, then you need big size pepper spray also known as Bear Spray.

Negative on the activation method of the gel. Just handling the container then hours later touching my eyes. Painful burning.

If you are in the woods please bring real bearspray and not wtv brand he the strongest pepper sprays range from 0.8% to 1.3% cap (hot stuff) while bear spray is most times 2% or more
