Bear spray is WAAAY more powerful. I accidentally got just a little spritz on my arm, and it was *PAINFUL.* OC will mildly irritate my skin, but it's not a problem at all. If I were hit in the face with bear spray, I'd probably rip my eyes out just to get some relief.
From my understanding, pepper spray and bear spray have the same active ingredient but bear spray typically has a significantly higher concentration. It's also not just smell that capsaicin impacts but also vision and breathing. A bear may have more sensitive senses but it's a significantly larger and stronger animal with a higher pain threshold than humans so things don't inversely scale like that.
This video was specifically going over what to use in a HUMAN encounter. Never ever use small cans against a bear. Stick with 1LB or larger cans in a fog pattern. 1LB fogger units can reach 20+ feet. Stick with an EPA certified bear spray.

"Any person eighteen (18) years of age or over may carry on his or her person and use, unless otherwise prohibited by law, any non-lethal noxious substance or liquid for his protection or the protection of others." Section 11-47-57. I'm ordering mines today😂
Yea. In Canada we like allowing our citizens to be completely defenceless while being assaulted, robbed or killed. Oh, and we dont fund our police forces either. Great place to live if you are a criminal. Looking forward to moving to Florida soon.

YOU need to get your facts straight. Pepper spray designed for use against humans varies in strength. Some brands have up to 10%. Bear spray is regulated and capped at 2-3%
Actually, OC spray for self defense can range between 1-7% (police generally are using 7%). Bear spray is regulated by environmental protection organizations and is capped at 2%.

My problem is I want a large container of pepper spray where I work in case of a robbery. Pepper spray might be more powerful, but I want the range and quantity of bear spray.

20 yrs ago, In Texas bought pepper spray for the local dogs chasing me on my bike. They knew exactly the range to stay clear. Was amazing to watch!

I will never use bear spray because it is weaker. A bunch of bear lovers helped regulate the bear spray. They are not worried about human life.
