    For the better part of thirty years I drank my whiskey out of rocks glasses (tumblers) and was perfectly happy.
    Then a few years ago some hipster on TH-cam told me I needed to try a Glencairn.
    Now I have taken over an entire cabinet in the kitchen just for all my different whiskey glasses.
    Ha!
    This is a great explanation of the differences.

    I'm 100% full on MC1R Scottish...born and raised in the Highlands, now living along the top North East Coastline, and quite partial to a dram or two. But, I have no time for all this arty-farty-ness of dainty tasting glasses, with which glass to use with which Whisky. Whether I am drinking Ardbeg 10, Grouse, Monkey Shoulder, Jack Daniels, Lagavuilin, or this towns very own 'Glen Deveron' (the Distillery is only 1/4 mile away), I now just use the same glass all the time. It's nothing fancy: an all too common Jack Daniels Rocks Tumbler glass which has 2 measures printed on it: 2cl and 4cl - but I pay no heed to them. I just fill the glass halfway and I'm good to go. My Method is: 1) Open the bottle. 2) Pour the stuff into the glass. 3) Drink it. 4) Repeat process when glass is empty. Yeah, call me a heathen. Call me unsophisticated. Call me anything ya want....but just don't call me early in the morning.

      First, Thanks for the comment, I love it! Second, welcome to the channel, it's always good to get some Scottish opinion. As for your choice of glass and method..... BINGO, love it! Here's the key for me..... drink it the way you like...whatever glass, with water or ice or not....hell, mix it if that's your thing and you have your process down. Can't argue with that one bit! As for the early mornin' calls...I'm good with that too, LOL! Cheers, ~Mark

    What, no Norlan glass? IMHO, easier to hold and drink from than the Glencairn, but still with the Glencairn's ability to explore a whisky 🥃🥃

    I use a brandy snifter or tumbler since I am a Scotch dummie only having tried fewer than 10 scotches in my life. Now at 61 I only drink Ardbeg & Laphroaig.

    Excellent rundown guys. With all the covid restrictions, and more severe ones coming soon, there is no such thing as a whisky glass that's too big. Cheers and stay safe. 🥃

    I think Dr Scotch needs to set you guys up with a blind glass challenge. Take three whiskies that are somewhat similar in style/taste and pour each into one glass of your 5 types. Then match up to the same whisky. Simple enough right? Will any of the whiskies taste or nose drastically different depending on the glass?

    Love the intel here !! Real quick question, Im buying a blend today, should I get Monkey Shoulder, or Dewars 12 ?

    • @StillLivinginthewoods
      @StillLivinginthewoods 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you generally prefer the flavor of single malt, go with Monkey Shoulder.
      If you usually like blended scotches better, go with Dewars.
      Both are blends, but Monkey Shoulder is a blended malt, meaning it is a blend of single malts. The Dewars has other grain whiskies blended in.

    • @Scotch4Dummies
      @Scotch4Dummies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both! lol. There's a different. Dewars 12 is a blended "Grain" and Monkey Shoulder is a blended Malt (Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Kinivie). I think both are great, but I personally would do MS. -Drew

      The one Shawn picks up at 4:01 looks like a Libby single malt glass. But are similar in shape to both the Glencairn Canadian whisky glass and the Libby Kentucky Bourbon trail glasses- Links below.
      *Be sure to select the correct option, especially on the first link since there a few different shaped glasses sold on the same page...
      Libby Single Malt (10.5oz), Set of 6 www.amazon.com/Libbey-Craft-Spirits-Single-Glasses/dp/B079C4HNNR/
      Glencairn Canadian whisky, Set of 2 www.amazon.com/Glencairn-Crystal-Canadian-Whisky-Glass/dp/B005LSA4GQ/
      Libby Kentucky Bourbon, Set of 4 www.amazon.com/Libbey-Signature-Kentucky-Bourbon-Whiskey/dp/B07BHKXNVY/
