    I got 2007 Hiace with 984000kms on the clock.. still goes pretty strong..

      +Harpreet Sekhon wood won't be long and it will have 0 km!!, i agree a business I worked for had a number of HiAces, the one I drove was a 2009 SLWB and it was trashed, they let me drive it from Frankston to Ballarat not knowing it didn't have oil or water due to not being serviced in 50,000 km. it drove like new and was fine afterwards!!

      How many kms did you get from the old hiace?

    • @angrysocialjusticewarrior
      @angrysocialjusticewarrior 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Jakeman302 Well its a Hiace. As long as he kept up with oil and coolant after making his comment, the hiace should be running fine even now. Easy to do 1 million km in a hiace with casual maintenance. But if you maintain it as aggressively as you would with a less reliable European car (sprinter, crafter, transit, renault, etc) then you can easily do 1,5 million.

    • @prichardgumpo1604
      @prichardgumpo1604 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@angrysocialjusticewarrior Is a crafter really less reliable?

    • @angrysocialjusticewarrior
      @angrysocialjusticewarrior 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@prichardgumpo1604 In my experience, its okay up to around 200k kilometers or just a little more, which is the maximum mileage a lot of companies keep their vehicles for.
      If you plan to work the vehicle long term, the Hiace is vastly more reliable since the crafter will become a constant money pit beyond 300k. The price of the turbo alone on a crafter is worth just a little less than an old but fully functional hiace. a petrol version of the hiace is guaranteed to reach 1 million KM on the original engine and transmission.
      But if you looking for a van just for camping purposes or for non commercial use, the crafter is fine because you'd more likely die from old age before reaching 1 million KM.

    Toyota endurance and reliability easy 500 ,000 -1,000,000km and you will see who reach there first and who spend the least in maintaince cost.

    I don't get it... Yes the Renault has newer technology, but the hiace is much larger. Shouldn't you be comparing vans with similar cargo space?

  • @adrianodonovan5342
    @adrianodonovan5342 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Those results are economical and nice to drive but they give more trouble than a teenager .If we could buy that hiace in Europe it would outsell all others but the health and safety brigade thinks having an engine under the seat is way too dangerous and someone could get a little bit more hurt in an accident .me I'd take my chances if I could have a van that would get me to work everyday without problems

Check back to how the euro vans are looking at 670,000ks. End of story

      You must consider fuel. Even if another vehicle lasts half the lifetime, it will pay for itself and a new vehicle in fuel if its more fuel efficient.

    • @crpth1
      @crpth1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well one thing is for sure, in Europe there are bunches of Renault Trafic standing north of the 500,000 km mark. In a flatter, longer distance travel habits AU. The Renault will also do the same easily. While spending a lot less fuel! With way more comfort and let's not talk safety!! ;-)
      There's a good reason why in Europe NONE of the vans with this 80's design (seat over engine, all the way to the front). DON'T sell for decades!! The EuroNcap crash tests for one of this Hiace should be fun to look, from a distance. LOL 😂
      Toyota should ditch this design not just in Australia, but other markets also. Some respect for the consumer would be nice. Reason why the European Hiace has a design more in line with this Renault Trafic!!

  • @hertziraq
    @hertziraq 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Well the real test is to be in the middle eastern climate.
    The Toyota Hiace is the king.
    Renault has tried hard, but unless they really adapt to the hot climate they can’t win.
    On the long run kms, Hiace will still be way ahead of Traffic.

      I also found it strange how loud it is. The Hiace shuttles we drive here are so quiet, that i sometimes "switch on" the ignition without realizing the engine is already running. We drive the petrol engines however.

  • @terrificspokesman7416
    @terrificspokesman7416 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Renault vans are quite popular in the UK. They are known for not being particularly reliable and the 30,000 km intervals which is 15,000 miles is just nonsense. High milage intervals are just there to help sell the van and in the long run it's bad for your engine.

    Just discovered this video. You forgot to mention all the failings of the Renault. Firstly, there is an aicon pipe that rubs on the body, so 2 months after new, it loses all gas. All 3 work vans were the same as well as 2 vans a friend bought, against my advice. The one I drive came back from its first service with master cylinder failure. At 170,000, it failed again. They burn oil, hazard lights stay on. Turning circle of a semi and tyres chew out on the front quickly.
