I have been driving a 25-year-old Hiace in Hungary for 20 years. I can safely say that it is one of the most reliable vans in the world ... Just that damn rust wouldn't be ...

I have been worked in dealership as OJT in Toyota
The Hiace Manual has a massive problem since its transmission is too big, it scrapes of Clutch disc like a pencil, i remember cleaning them. But the automatic has no probs, dont care about DPF Issues, i need diesel for fuel efficiency

The Ford Transit is easliy the best in class. Australia must have something for Toyota's as the Transit is easily the best selling van in Europe and the UK for very good reasons. (Plus the Toyota is strange looking thing to say the least?)

looking for a new van right now, from watching reviews and weighing up all options it's clear the Hiace is the overall winner, albeit it looks like a lego car, and only two seats at the front. Really had hoped Hyundai made a new improved iLoad because I love them the most, but instead they stopped production and made that disgusting looking Staria. Hands down the Ford custom sport is the best looking van on the road by far, but thats about where it ends, it's basically the slowest new van(crazy considering it's tough looks) and from speaking to owners it's also plagued with mechanical issues. The one other van is the Transporter T6, fastest ICE van on the road atm I believe, but I don't think I can justify the extra price over the Hiace. So for me it's either search for a 2021 iload just out of pure love for them, or go grab the trusty new fairly priced Toyota Lego van. Shame about the Transits being lemons because they look hot, but I need reliability, as do all ppl driving commercial vehicles (time is money)

@@thinkitthroughful gday mate, tbh I've only known two ppl that have owned them and both didn't like them, one was a fellow electrician but built motors in his spare time so I trusted his opinion and he dealt with many different vans as a supervisor in charge of at least 7 different vans at a time. He said he'd take an iload any day of the week over a transit(the one he had at the time was I believe a 2018-2019 model and constant issues he said, pointing out large issues he had with the diff). On top of this they are one of the slowest new vans around which is weird because they are also one of the smallest(not much room in the back compared to iload's, staria's, hiace etc)
