at about the 11:30 mark, he opens the options for the barcode by double clicking the barcode itself. Then, a screen pops up with several tabs, one of which is "barcode". If you click on this "barcode" tab, one of the options will be barcode type. I believe it defaults to code 128, but you can change it to any number of barcode types.
And to import database or spreadsheet you need to spend additional sum of money for pro edition. That one little feature in basic version was too much to ask eh? Just so people could get by for a little while. :(
