Mr Long, our Gr. 11 PAT must be handed in on the 10th of November and I have been struggling with my database connection for over 4 weeks now and neither me nor my teacher can figure out what is wrong. Every time I run my PAT it gives an Access violation error and when I connect my database to my data module the fields of the table are empty... The weird thing is all the records show in the DBGrid, but when I go in the colum editor or field editor the fields also don't appear. I have tried everything from deleting my database 4 times and connecting it in anyway possible my database still won't work. Can you please help me Mr. Long?
Have you tried doing the database connection dynamically? Try this video, it shows you step by step what code to write just changing it for your particular database: th-cam.com/video/d9q6vLt9X5w/w-d-xo.html Let me know if it works.
@@MrLongITandCAT I just connected my program dynamically, but when I run my program it still gives me a "Access violation at address 0061FA97 in module 'frmWelcome_p.exe'. Read of address 000003CC." and a "Could not find installable ISAM" error, is there anything else I could try Mr. Long?
@@MrLongITandCAT nope I always close the database before running it, and I am running it from a flash drive. The program only gives me that error when I try to extract data from the database not when I'm checking if the username or password is correct.

@MrLongITandCAT when testing the connection it is failing because of an error in initializing provider. Could not find file 'C:\Program Files(x86)\Emarcadero\Studio\22.0\bin\Clients.mbd' How can i fix it?
If you're using Delphi 2010 theres a Tool Palette on the right side of your Design tab. In the search bar just type TDGrid and it should appear. If the Tool Palette is not visible then at the top of your screen change the option to "Default Layout"

@@MrLongITandCAT I used the Microsoft Office 12.0 Access Engine OLE Database Provider. I had to force an installation of the 32bit as my Office is 64bit.
Side note! Do not try and access the data module from a FormCreate! You will get access violation as the Data Module will not have been created by the time that procedure is called!

I have saved the database in the same folder with my Delphi program and have built the database name as only DBExample.mdb however when I close the program and open it again the active ADOTable property is set to false and when I try to make it true it displays “Could not find file ‘C:\WINDOWS\System32\DBExample.mdb’
Everytime you open Delphi you will need to redo the part of selecting the mdb file and setting Active to true. A better way would be to do your connection dynamically. Here is a video that explains how to do it. @@Nico-lv2ey Is the database open when you run the program? And what drive are you running the program from (flash drive etc)?

What could I do if my database is in dBase format (dbf) and not in Access? I Use Delphi DX 10.3
There is component tdbf where you can open and use Dbase from 4 to 9 and also support multi-user on sourceforge

Have you tried using the values true or false (make sure they are not in quotes)

Have you saved the project yet> And then make sure your database is in the correct folder (Debug folder if using Delphi 11 or 10.4).

delete the adoConnection, adoTable and data source components. Create them dynamically as shown in the video.

There is a property on the ADOConnection called LoginPrompt. Set that to false.
