For those who are not familiar with the technicalities, BLACK MONEY principally means income (individual or a business) on which tax has not been paid. Raghuram Rajan says that the Indian economy was being financed by BLACK MONEY without any interest rate earning prior to the 2016 Demonetisation, and now that BLACK MONEY has started earning interest in Banks as a result of which RBI's divided has gone down. However, he forgets that all individuals and businesses who have now formalised their accounts, are liable to TDS at source of 10% pa and and those above the threshold will now have to pay Income Tax at 30% from 2017 onwards
If you watch all parts of the interview, it seems both the reporter and the channel are obfuscating (knowingly or unknowingly) his message on demonetization that the note ban was a clear disaster.
