The 3D printing industry is booming. The technology is there, the innovation is there, but, the understanding isn't there. There are engineers and designers who know how to make everything around us using the tried and true, and already figured out techniques. 3D printing cannot just replace parts one to one in most cases. So, just like how designers and engineers need to learn how to design for injection molding, or for CNC machining, or any other traditional method of manufacturing, they will have to learn how to design for additive manufacturing (DFAM) something that I have spent the last 8+ years learning.
