I bought a 2012 A6 3.0T over a month ago and this video was one of the reasons I got it. I was close to getting a 2013 Audi A4/VR6 VW CC but after issues with a dealer we went with a gorgeous moonlight blue mettallic 2012 A6 3.0T premium plus S-line with the brown interior and 97K miles from a private seller for $11K and I've been loving it so far. It's the first car of my own, previously driving a 2007 Camry hybrid family car. It was this video among a few others that got the ball rolling on looking for an A6 and I wanted to thank you for it.
I forgot to add that I test drove 17 other cars (including BMWs, a Mercedes C250, Mazdas, Volkswagens, a Honda Accord V6, a Hyundai Genesis and Elantra, a Toyota Camry, and some Audis) and the A6 was my favorite by far. It's a great car.
Omg I was also eyeing to get my hand on vw cc VR6 but have no luck as its pretty rare to find that model as I live in NYC. How do you find this model significantly better than competitors? Did you get any extended warranty as well to cover possible unnecessary repairs?
Still an amazing car even today!! Not too many luxury repairs compared to similar competitors. It’s worth every penny after massive luxury depreciation. There aren’t many sedans that compare to the C7 3.0T twins.
The BEST car I have owned hands down. I ended up selling last year because I needed a 3 row SUV. I miss the A6 and at some point will buy one again. The car drove so well and with such quality and precision

For those shopping for C7/C7.5 you may want to consider the ultimate factory developed A6. That is the A6 'competition" trim level that is exclusive to 2017 model year. Prices today are half what they where when purchased new. This car starts as a fully loaded 'prestige' trim and then Audi adds S6 goodies. Sport rear differential, a wee bit of added HP, sport seating with diamond stitching, red brake calipers (I don't care much for as everyone offers them now). Essentially it is an A6 with every option possible with added S6 performance. Imagine this car with an APR tune, AWE exhaust.
I always thought the headrests were set too far forward. Had the car nearly a year now and thanks to 5.35minute mark or so I can now adjust them back! Thanks!
Bought my ‘15 Audi a6 3.0t Prestige back in 2021. Recently had to change the motor mounts but I haven’t had any major problems since. I absolutely love my car. :)
I bought it with 70k miles on it. I drive a lot for work so now I am pushing 115k miles. Only main issue I have now is it’s oil consumption. It burns oil like crazy and makes you add one quart of oil every couple hundred miles even after an oil change. Checked for leaks during routine services and there aren’t any. So now I’m in the process of trading it for something else before they tell me I need a new engine lol.
@@RishanJ The oil consumption is most likely the PCV valve. That’s the most common issue with those engines. aside from that, I read that those engines are the most bulletproof engine Audi ever made. Definitely look into that issue

Great video and it really helped me with my decision in pulling the trigger and purchase a 2013 A6 Quattro 3.0T Prestige package locally in my city. I have also gone ahead and did a Stage 1 034 Motorsport ECU upgrade and the difference was awesome to say the least. I decided to forgo the Stage 1 TCU upgrade as the car I purchased has the 8 speed transmission and can readily handle the Stage 1 modification. This car has been rock solid thus far and I may get more modifications down the road. The 2013 A6 3.0T is great car, sporty and luxurious, handles great, rides nice and can surprise a lot peeps at the red lights. I came from an N54 and looking at 2015+ S4s and C7 3.0s just to drive for a year or so. This video has me pretty convinced, I think I would definitely look for a flat bottom steering wheel though to replace the original.
Easy enough to find other steering wheels, there’s a surprisingly large market for aftermarket or “upgraded” OEM wheels on BMWs and Audis. I had found S6 style wheel (don’t remember if OEM or not) for like $600.
Wow, those are super low miles. How do you like everything else? Besides the broken windshield haha. I'm about to pick up the same exact car, one owner at 90k miles.

As with most Audi’s from this era it slots somewhere between BMW and Mercedes in ride comfort. With Mercedes being the softest and BMW being the most stiff. The A6 is a nice balance between comfort and performance.
2012 Audi A6 premium plus here with 82,000 miles. APR stage II dual pulley, (93 octane tune) AWE touring exhaust with resonated down pipes, AWE S-Flow intake, APR CPS (coolant performance System), Eurocode front/rear sway bars, factory sport suspension, Adam's Rotors slotted brake kit, SS braided flex brake hoses, updated/revised Audi supercharger intercoolers (larger passageways). I purchased car 5 years ago at 17K miles. I installed all hardware myself, maintain my vehicle religiously when Audi Care expired. APR tune has been reliable with zero issues. Car is/has been reliable.... but, I take care of it and perform all maintenance myself. Some caveats.... Audi recommends 10K oil change, I change oil/filter at 5K, Audi states transmission is lubed for life, ZF (transmission manufacturer) recommends replacing fluid at 80K or sooner. Audi states differentials are lubed for life.... Ugh. I changed out all fluids. This car is a sleeper and off the line is a beast. Traveling on freeway and lane opens up, mash the throttle and instant response. Dyno run shows consistent pulls of 475 HP at the crank. Regardless of platform, the 3.0 V-6 is highly tunable and reliable.
@@kevinriordan7842 is it necessary to buy extended carmax warranty, would you say that would help saving me a few dollars in foreseeable future? I love A7 but the value is alot more for basically the same engine different looks
@@vincentv1790 I wouldn't buy extended warranty if thousands of $$$$. If you plan on tuning, warranty will be null and void. The 3.0 V6, ZF transmission are highly reliable. The entire drive train is highly reliable. Now the electronics? I haven't had any issues but, there are something like 40 computer modules within the cars network. So what price piece of mind. I work on my vehicles and have access to software to troubleshoot issues too. Again, my A6 has been very reliable.
@@kevinriordan7842 appreciated the feedback, and any difference throughout the model year? C7 or C7.5? Best year to get and what trims is the most worth it? Again thank you for your quick response!!
Which one. There are differences in the C7 and C7.5 with the latter using less. Either way, if I had to put a quart in the car every six months, it would be a small price to pay for a car with performance potential an luxury like this car.
My friend has one of these with 400hp tuned engine. Easily the best car i have ever driven. The power just feels insane. For example the E39 M5 felt nothing like this Audi.
I'm possibly buying a 2013 A6 Prestige, how expensive is it to have it tuned? I felt like 310hp was a little weak, mainly comparing to a 400hp bmw 650i I used to have.
one *big* problem really the only one is a timing belt guild issue aeound 120k miles costs 900 to fix due to labor but after that you'll easily last upwards of 200k miles
I’ve had my 2017 A6 competition s-line since new. Scheduled maintenance, nothing else. The best daily driver I’ve ever owned. It’s a beast for our 🇨🇦 winters. I plan on keeping it long term, which is 8-10 yrs for me.
@@murtsiz99 Don't be! There's no tune for the ZF-8 speed transmission for the C7 A6 whereas there are plenty of tunes you can get for the 7 speed dual clutch. I have the 2012 Audi A6 3.0t in this exact color and I absolutely love it (APR stage 1). I love the transmission too, but the transmission unfortunately can't be tuned like the dual clutch can. The dual clutch changes gears faster as well. APR should be coming out with a tune for the ZF-8 speed transmission soon though as I have been in contact with them regarding tuning my transmission to shift at a higher rev limiter and get all around more power to the wheels.
@@christianjohnson8884 I would like the s-tronic but it really can't take over 200k km(125k miles) without mechatronics and clutch rebuild. The mechatronics does go faulty and wear clutches out
@@christianjohnson8884 Thats true it's little bit faster, but I like durability over performance. I'm just thinking of changing my C5 S6 manual to C6 A6 3.0T. Would go for the c7 if it had the zf, thats my opinion.
I have a B9 S4 and miss the class and the supercharged A6. Opt for the Prestige with the Sports Package. You won’t regret it, and the aftermarket is there. Mine had just an intake, but Stage 1 / Stage 2 APR tune is the way to go. Ultracharger if you want 500hp!!
BuzzytheBlue The A6 Unser boost sounded great. I’m completely stock in my B9 S4 and don’t get me wrong, I love it! On the butt dyno, it definitely felt faster and more nimble than the C7 S6 and S7 I drove . I think I just need a high flow car and APR tune to open the car up a little more, and make it more fun.
Now C8 is out. In terms of exterior look, C7 still holds up to C8 since the major design point haven't been changed. However I like C7 better for not being all screens. I would just get after market Android Auto / AirPlay head unit which is compatible with MMI. Then it is good to go for 5 more years.
Especially agree regarding the screens. I enjoyed driving the C7 around with the main MMI display hidden. No replacement for true physical buttons/knobs.
Are these pretty good cars😶 I was thinking about getting a bmw 535i or either mercedes e400 I like the fact it uses supercharged instead of the turbos😶

Some of the tachometer shots around the 3 minute mark show the e brake is on while at various speeds, is that due to some driver mods?
Nope, Brake pad wear sensor triggered during the drive.
What town is this.?? I’m on the east coast and know it’s in the area but can’t figure it out! Beautiful place
A couple different towns, all central CT near the river though!
i didnt now they got only a six speed and an 8speed trans.. what about the 7speed trans?
The seven speed DCT is only in Europe. In the US we got an eight speed torque converter automatic.
@@BuzzytheBlue aa okay so the sevenspeed is the best because is it dct?
Both are great transmissions, but the DCT is probably a bit better/more responsive yes.
How does the ride of this compare to the e class?
As with most Audi’s from this era it slots somewhere between BMW and Mercedes in ride comfort. With Mercedes being the softest and BMW being the most stiff. The A6 is a nice balance between comfort and performance.
What tune would you recommend I have a 2015 prestige every option
Can’t go wrong with APR. They have arguably done the most R&D into these platforms.
Excellent video, new sub :) what song is that in the beginning ? Thanks
Should i get one with 128k miles? That seems pretty high
If it’s been well taken care of, good maintenance records etc I wouldn’t be too concerned if the price is right.
@BuzzytheBlue OK thanks . It's a 2012 they are selling it for 7.5k usd. I'm thinking about it..
is the oil burning situation serious on this car?
Which one. There are differences in the C7 and C7.5 with the latter using less. Either way, if I had to put a quart in the car every six months, it would be a small price to pay for a car with performance potential an luxury like this car.
@@Todd.T 2012audi a7 tfsi supercharge
My friend has one of these with 400hp tuned engine. Easily the best car i have ever driven. The power just feels insane. For example the E39 M5 felt nothing like this Audi.
Im running 450 on mine w a tune and only a few parts from IE
I'm possibly buying a 2013 A6 Prestige, how expensive is it to have it tuned? I felt like 310hp was a little weak, mainly comparing to a 400hp bmw 650i I used to have.
@@nathanielcraig3588well 400hp bmw is gonna feel faster than slightly above 300hp audi...
My only question is if it’s reliable?
Typically very much so! The 3.0T is a relatively trouble free engine, and the ZF 8 speed auto is also very durable.
@@BuzzytheBlue appreciate it man! I’ve been looking into them.
one *big* problem really the only one is a timing belt guild issue aeound 120k miles costs 900 to fix due to labor but after that you'll easily last upwards of 200k miles
@@ginsudiaz7675 $900, that's it? I thought it would be more than that.
what brand of drone did you used and what model?
DJI Mavic 2 Pro
Do they give lot of problems in generally?
Not if well-maintained
I’ve had my 2017 A6 competition s-line since new. Scheduled maintenance, nothing else. The best daily driver I’ve ever owned. It’s a beast for our 🇨🇦 winters. I plan on keeping it long term, which is 8-10 yrs for me.
Is that really 8speed zf? In europe they are all 7 speed dual-clutch
Yep in the U.S. we got the ZF8. Jealous that you guys got the dual-clutch.
@@BuzzytheBlue Well I'm jealous that you got the 8speed😂
I haven’t driven a B9 yet. What makes you miss the supercharged engine versus the new turbo? Less instant power response?
BuzzytheBlue The A6 Unser boost sounded great. I’m completely stock in my B9 S4 and don’t get me wrong, I love it! On the butt dyno, it definitely felt faster and more nimble than the C7 S6 and S7 I drove . I think I just need a high flow car and APR tune to open the car up a little more, and make it more fun.
Haha have same stage 2 full intake sistem carbon fiber
great video
What transmission it got? DL or DQ
, WHY IS THE HAND BRAKE ON>??? WHAT IN THE WORLD
It isn’t, that is a wear indicator for the rear brake pads. This car wouldn’t have been going anywhere with the electronic handbrake engaged haha.
0:24 I thought this was going to be a video on Global Warming, where’s Greta Thunberg? 🤣
Ha! It’d be a short review…. “GET THE 2.0T OR YOURE KILLING THE RAINFOREST”
Coolant Leak, Motor Mounts, Thermostat, Water Pump
Issues with all of the above?
This car is about to hit 100,000 miles and hasn’t had any issues. The owner will be doing the water pump preventatively though.
i got a 2013 no leakes everything still works
My daily driver is a 2015 A6 Prestige. Bought used with 30k miles. Currently at 70k. No problems other than the brakes were in bad shape when I bought it.
@@Petermcnaughtonhomes Nice, Water Pump and Thermostat will come sooner than later now. Audi makes one of the most unreliable cooling systems in the world.
The worst is the coolant leak from the plastic pipe that runs under the supercharger from the thermostat housing. It's the labor that sucks
its so sad... here in the EU we only got the 3.0 TFS I with the 7spd dualclutch wich is just utter shit... you can destroy it just with a single launch...
Do you know if it’s a different DCT to the one in the B8 S4? It must be if they’re so fragile. That’s too bad.
The model started in 2011...
Here in the U.S. 2011 A6s are C6 generation. European markets got the C7 in early 2011, the U.S. in 2012.

Hey guys,
I hope you enjoyed this review. If so, you could really help me out by heading over to my newest one, it's on a 2017 Mercedes AMG GT. It's not every day I get the chance to drive/film such special cars, so I'd really appreciate you taking a look. Even a couple views can help TH-cam suggest the video. Thanks so much!
