Oscar why won’t my Rome total war 2 that I just bought work on my MacBook it says 32 but version or something... also it seems nothing works on MacBook and there’s no video on how to work mods on MacBook that’s updated
Also most of Macedon's qonquered terretory was taken from the crumbling and struggling Persian Empire. So Alexander really had to focus only on one huge weakened enemy at once.
@@e.hanker193 "Crumbling and struggling." Alexander in every major battle of his conquest was outnumbered by tens of thousands, do you know-how uncommon in history it is for the smaller army to actually win? And then to do it over and over?

This was the one of the first times I was rooting for the attackers. They dfinitely felt like the underdogs, the Hungry Wolves are such good players that this one was almost an obvious outcome. Kudos to them, but I usually like to side with the underdogs in Total Wars.
@@filipt7866 man, I get what you're saying, but since had the possibility to observe the Hungry Wolves in action, I can safely say that most players have little to no chances against them. They're strategic war machines, no matter their army composition. That's why I was rooting for the attackers, because I know how much of excellent players are the HW.
I have thousands of hours in all of the total war games. I have never really enjoyed watching anyone's replays but you are narrating awesome battles outside of your own tale and making all the fun intense parts of the game come to more detailed life without the mental stress of having to personally try to save the day in such moments. I appreciate the quality videos man, sure as hell has helped me defend and attack to a point I almost feel bad when I am playing myself... almost. Thank you.
Had kush moved his army closer together to defend from the cav at the begining he might not have lost so many men but excellent battle to start the new decade
what is everyone's best tactic for defending a city when you are overwhelmingly outnumbered? i usually pull my forces into the tightest area that blocks a direct rout to my town center, while i leave my archers on the walls to try and burn their battering ram, (while leaving 1 or 2 melee units close by in case of a success) if i have cavalry i try and send them around a back gate and move them around the outskirts of the city so they can flank their archers or catapults, i'd say like 70% of the time i succeed in routing enough of the archers and siege engine people to allow me to move my troops in to block up any holes in my walls that are made in that time without fear of them being scattered by artillery fire, then it is just a matter of letting the enemy smash themselves against me while my archers pick at them as they approach, and several units of my spearmen (that come with the added benefit of being able to throw javelins) pelt them as they get closer only to reinforce my line once they run out, unfortunately this tactic usually always devastates my cavalry which drags the battle out for far longer, because 1. i can't smash them from behind while they are all piled up trying to push through my foot soldiers, and 2. i don't have anyone fast enough to chase the ones that break down and KEEP them from rallying and coming back during the same battle.... 30% of the time however i have to basically wait as the artillery uses all of it's ammo to either rout my archers and or destroy a huge chunk of my walls and (depending on how many archers the enemy brings) it's usually a toss up between who wins
Hold strategical positions, that can win the battle. I usually do not hold the outer walls at all. I try and funnel them into zill zones, and pin them down with archer fire from the sides.. or reserve them for pikes/elephants if they bring. Use my infantry units in a pincer into these areas. Set up traps in the city in the killzones, and I keep falling back into more tight choke points until i have to defend the center. By then, I depleted a big chunk of the enemy force. Only time i do defend the outer walls, is if its a fair fight overall. If someone brings OP factions, like 2 of the same.. or spam pikes or something like that.. i wont.
Hey Pixie just to let you know the cav sally meta is now a huge talking point and consideration now thanks to your videos. Your stuff is literally influencing the game you love. I more or less re-enacted your slap around of Rome with a cav sally today and we were screaming APOLLOOOO in the chat at them
Honestly I usely have elite units in reserve while I fight tooth and nail for the wall i only use a few cav units to cripple lone units while I hold if they break the walls I do a full fall back to central positions to ware there forces down if push comes to shove I will fall back to the central capture point and do a last stand best faction I’d say for this is Sparta strong armoured and defensive faction for this tactic
Hey apollo, it's not the first time you're doing this in rome 2, but you should notice that while some points do look like the last stand position, you can tell that they are not if they are so close to the outer walls. In this battle, what you thought for so long was the capture point, is quite clearly a break-in point -there is no way to prolong defending it once the walls are lost and it can be attacked from multiple sides at once.
That is the main capture point. Cities just have 2 other minor positions that give a moral boost to their owners. The main capture point has an additional moral impact on the defenders.
I’ve been playing a lot of third age reforged lately and Hopefully some videos of it get released as it’s honestly so fun to play and the battles are amazing win or lose
What was that Selucid player doing near the end, it was like he was moving his whole army with one set of moves and he took up so much time when he disnt flank. Slightly painful to watch to say the least
Talking about the map is looks a lot like old Jerusalem. During the jewish revolt when they took the city and the romans came back and conquered it. Looking at the shape and districts and the temple on the east side definitely looks like old Jerusalem.
Apollo kept ragging on Kush for attacking that gate, but what I saw was 2-3 units of Kush infantry tying up something like 6 defending units, so. . . seems like a good move to me?

Carthage sees a massive cavalry force sallying out and crushing their ally. "Let's send in my archers to help 'em out without support!"
Well... they had camels so horse cav wouldn't be that good anyway. But yeah, sending the archers was a mistake
