Never thought I’d see my artwork here (the Hell Creek Caenagnathids) 😊
Make sure if they owe you any money for its use.
@@JohnyG29 I already got paid for the initial commission. Plus, I’d let any good science education/communication channel use my art for free.
I saw your Caenagnathid piece featured in the sci.news website's article and looked you up the other day. Your other pieces are brilliant too. I really love your work. Very talented 😃
A robot dinosaur helps our understanding of real dinosaurs? Grimlock would be proud.
Dinobots time!
Me grimlock no flusher, me king
Roboteryx is now my new favorite dinosaur
Dino Bots are a real thing now!
the circle is now complete
It's coming for us all! 😮😂
Dynamoterror is also pretty good too, though
“For an alternative form of shell’ter.”
I see what you did there. Clever.🍀
Chicken from Hell? Should call it "The Colonel."
But only if it also lived in Kentucky.

No that's the Chicken IN Hell! 😂
Doug: What is Seven Days of Science?
Me: This man asking the real questions here.
Doug: Genuine question.
Me: And that's why the pay him the big bucks.
For about 30 years I've imagined that protowings would have been used for display purposes, for mating, and that, just as with peacock tails, these markings grew larger and larger, eventually having a secondary use of providing extra lift to leap out of the way of predators. This new research into their being used to flush out prey is a very intriguing idea. I don't see why they couldn't carry both purposes, and thus would have favoured enlargement even more rapidly. Larger markings flush out more prey so would be an desirable trait in mating as well.
Also tiny wings which can’t be used for flying help birds like baby chicks climb on trees, even when angle is about 90°; very useful for baby dinos to survive predators.
That's right, I remember seeing that study.@@valivali8104
ANOTHER Hell Creek dinosaur discovered? Jeesh, it makes everything we thought we knew about the ecology of the area even from 20 years back completely obsolete. Absolutely incredible discovery.
Makes me wonder what else co-existed besides famous namesakes such as Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus.
These discoveries don't render our previous view of the Hell Creek ecology "completely obsolete" by any means.... each new discovery only _enhances_ our knowledge of these prehistoric environments. We've long-known there were more species filling the ecological niches between the largest dinosaurs and smallest reptiles & mammals, but fossilisation is a lottery that most species didn't win... so you can think of each new discovery as adding a splash more colour to our existing picture of ancient Hell Creek.
Highly recommend diving down the internet research rabbit hole if you want to understand what co-existed with the big-name dinos... you might be surprised at the rich picture of biodiversity we've uncovered over the past few decades. 👍
I rescued some battery hens and gave them a loving home where they're happy, healthy and safe; *THEY* came from Hell (such evil conditions in which to keep animals.) This one just came from Hell Creek, a much nicer place to live!
I rescued a pigeon from Hell, Hackney actually, he's not wanting to go back and is very territorial about his house (he's actually lame and for some reason it gets worse when he is cold so he's ended up staying, he's happy until I clean his enclosure, then you see the Hell Chicken. His name is, unimaginatively, Birdie, but he's no innocent little feather ball, more like archaeopteryx.
I've never heard of Flush Pursuing before.
Feathers really are multi purpose tools!
"Dawn Chicken From Hell"
Must be a cousin of mine
Really interesting. A good way of keeping up to date. Particularly interested in the moon info. Thanks.
Hermit crabs once again proving to be awesome.
Horseshoe crabs -- MY personal favorite.
Thank you for all you guys do. 🙏🏼
Studies showed that while the hermit crabs would more than willingly use rubbish and litter as a shell, when given the chance to swap to a proper shell, they jumped at the chance. Opportunistic responses to a common problem. Just know, if they have a choice between a real shell or our trash, they choose the shell every time.
Well . . .uh . . . gosh, I feel so put on the spot by the opening.
The biggest change with the hermit crabs is they now hold their tongue when they say they live in a pirate ship.
“What is 7DOS”? Very deep indeed, nearly philosophical in fact. Well, for me, it’s looking forward to another week of random and intriguing facts presented in the dry, yet terse British wit. Even if it comes from an un-emoting cutout when, the real person is such a more fantastic narrator. Obviously, I’m a podunk ‘Merican
I HOW WONDERFUL YESSSSSS I LOVE YOUR SHOW AND IM A SENIOR CITIZEN
Doug’s intro are amusing, awkwardly unpredictable ✌️❤️🇬🇧
For the hermit crab part I watch from @TheDodo short one of the reason is people taking empty shells as gifts and so the crabs couldn't find a shell so have to make due with our rubbish. Fortunately a guy is returning shells to this crabs and collects the rubbish.
Its 7 days of fun of course!
Thanks, I thought my audio was glitching and I backed out, just to have to watch the ads again. Real cute!
Yayyy Doug episode!! This week was super interesting, thank you BGT team for covering it all! ❤️😁
Plastic cups may be less targeted as a food source in marine environments
It's amazing that Unicellular Fossils remain!
If you think about it that means they actually lived in a 2D World for a Billion years! 😂
Roboterics Sounds like the recreated the Roadrunner Meet me.
I think you accidentally a sentence, and I'd rather not meet you.
This is what it should read Roboterics Sounds like they recreated the Roadrunner Meep Meep.
Ya know...I've fished Hell Creek a ton, and never really realized how many dinos get pulled from that area. This whole region was an ocean at one point, and you can see it everywhere you look. Just to see the sheer amount of land dinos that come from here also....well that's nuts, considering how many ocean fossils are also located in the same exact area. 🤯
These new discoveries keep getting more and more awesome, and I love them all so much ❤
I would give anything to be constantly overwhelmed but in a good way at work!
Nothing better, than learning what lived before!
The non-bird dinosaurs would be a good name for a band
The most detailed picture ever of the Eye of Sauron, still watching us. The oldest "algae-like" living being is an amazing discovery too
Wow, what a lot happening, all very interesting! A great job of reporting!
Thank you so much for the accurate captions and transcript, I know it’s extra work but it makes such a difference.
Great episode, love this channel
I’m sorry but that roboteryx paper has got to be one of the wackiest experiments I’ve ever heard, and it’s amazing
“That’s Robopteryx!”
“No, that’s Mecha-pteryx!”
Fascinating video, as always!
7DOS is my go to place for Science News. !:- )
I think doug is a cardboard based deep fake... I'm not quite sure yet, but something about him doesn't seem quite right. Could be wrong tho.
So prehistoric Thanksgiving is sounding real good right now lol
What is 7 Days of Science? The one channel I've been checking first when I turn on the computer for about the past 5 years.
When I saw the title of this video, I thought they’d named an oviraptorosaur “Eogallus”.
Just saying: “Pharaoh’s chicken” is not the translation I would’ve used if I were writing the description of the taxon.
@ 41:46 this bit of information reminded me of the fact that Most people don't realize that slugs are homeless snails ! Sadly, They can't go into the saltwater to get one of those bottle caps or any other human detritus for that matter to call home so that's not a solution ! What's to be done ?
The best science news report since Pleistocene. The hellcreek chicken was marionet player of insects 😮
Life is amazing.
Dinosaurs plus some other token items.
Mr. Gru wasn't involved in the moon thing, was he?
Well ....I hope this doesn't destroy your view of him but sometimes the truth hurts ! So I'll say it in a way that takes your feelings into consideration .......ABSOLUTELY !!

Meet the chicken from hell and his best friend, the terror duck Gastornis. 😂
It would be revealing to give transparent shells to hermit crabs.

Turn a chicken into a Dinosaur.
Very good.
Ok on the foot prints there seems to show foot covers and no individual toe imprints.
Eukaryo-tees? Never heard it like that before. Was pretty sure that word was an English derivation
Are you sure? The Electric Universe theory has crucial questions.
What's with the creepy puppet doing the presentation?

Nice 😃
Doug, have you never heard anybody say the word eukaryote out loud before?

I'd love to know what the best tasting dinosaur was
For me it's Popeyes
This channel and the internet will be a lot poorer when these people graduate. Hard to imagine they'll still manage to keep things going.
If the moon shrinks too much the other planets axis will wobble via reduced displacement including the earth with bigger seasonal variations of climate ✌️❤️🇬🇧
Doug needs to stop skipping Leg Day.
For what it's worth my understanding is that it's usually pronounced "you-carry-oats"

Take a shot every time Doug mispronounces “caenagnathid”
Is "IU-kah-ri-OH-tiz" the British pronunciation of Eukaryotes? I have never hear it pronounced that way. It's "iu-KAH-RI-ohts" in the U.S.. Like, "you CARRIE oats." Which one is correct? How do you pronounce the singular, a eukaryote? We would say, "iu-KAH-RI-oht," "you CARRIE oat." Do you say, "YOU carrie OAT"? "YOU carrie OATIEZ" just sounds weird.
Keep this up and I'll go back to muting your intros.
What do they lose from this?
okay, mayyybe the cutoff intros are getting a little old ❤
Nonsense! They’re a Doug signature.
No
Is it just me or is anyone else sceptical about all the fossil finds from China 🤔🤔
Its just you
I ain't got my Liars Club diner-speak for nothin.' Had a co-worker, Zang, with the "catch phrase" "Just kidding." Nope, just lying. We'd have discussions about this..quirk which always included some bit about her Asian friends being liars, as well. Charming. The worlds full of liars, some folks are just more comfortable with it. And, they're not being audacious when they do it; I'm damn sure they just think they're playing the game
Plus, yeah, every 7 DOS having a "This just in from China." bit, that's not weird. Why would China lie to the rest of the world? And, they're super open and honest with their citizens. You, my friend, are just being silly.
See what I did there? I went from being "hateful" to "charming."
@@sassa82 Just in case you were not alerted to it's presence, there is a paragraph indicating someone begs to differ.
Also, is your name a drunk proclamation as to what you are, by chance? I am the curious sort.
China is a big country with lots of environments/terrains. Hardly a surprise.
Ok but I don't get the intro and stick puppet and such. If it's funny, why, and for how much longer will it stay funny?
Bye bye
Am I watching a dinosaur video or a boring 7dos planetary video
Also why hermit crabs in a Dino vid
Neither. It's a science video.
Sorry, I was genuinely, very interested in seeing some new palaeontology, but the first 13 seconds were *SO* incredibly, utterly tedious and profoundly irritating, I not only Down Voted but I felt compelled to unsub.
