      Back in 1999 I went with my parents and my brother to Disney Park Paris and it was a 3D ride in an interactive cinema called "Honey, I shrunk the audience!".
      After 11 years it closed in 2010 and was replaced for another ride.

      "Cloak and Dagger" with Dabney Coleman. Another one is the remake of "Invaders from Mars" from 1986. "My Science Project" is another. "The Secret of NIMH." is a fairly dark Don Bluth animated film.

      @Jen Murray That's ok, to hell with the analytics. You're a market leader forging your own path... not sure if you've noticed but many reactors tend to follow the trends and react to what everyone else is reacting to. You're leading the charge and the analytics will catch up as others react to this movie because it will increase in popularity. Don't be afraid to go places other reactors haven't, and don't let analytics tell the whole story. Personally I'd rather lead the market than be one of the follower :).

    • @IronicTonic8

    I saw an interview with Rick Morannis and they asked why he was stopping making movies at the height of his career and he said it was because he looked at his kids one day and realized how much they had grown up during the filming of his last movie and realized he’s missing the greatest experience in the world,..parenting,..seeing his children grow and being part of it and he said he’d made plenty of money in his Career to call it quits, actually retire young and be a stay at home dad and that’s what he did,..still today he’s a stay at home dad and has grandkids now that he’s very involved with! I respect that SO much! To quit a career as a Hollywood A list actor at the height of your career to be with your kids! As a single dad of young amazing angel daughters I 100% get that and would give anything to be able to do the same! My baby is 5 years old and she’s growing up sooo fast while my 2 oldest are growing even faster it’s scary! 😢 why a great example he is though! Rick was asked recently if he regretted at all retiring and the interviewer said pretty rudely “you won’t fit back into movies today,..do you regret leaving when you did fit in?” He smiled and said nope, it was THe best decision I’ve ever made! And ended the interview. Legend status!

    Can confirm, the ant and scorpion were terrifying as a kid. It feels like this movie must have been a ton of fun for the kids to make with all of the cool "giant" sets and action sequences. There was a "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" movie ride at Disneyland with 3D glasses and it would blow puffs of air or water at you depending on what was happeing on screen. I did it a few times over the years, it was pretty fun from what I remember

    • @StarkRG
      @StarkRG ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I must have been in my early teens by the time I got to go on that ride because I remember being pretty unenthused by it. • @StarkRG
      @StarkRG ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Drforrester31 I was clearly more interested in the technology involved than the content. I'm sure I'd enjoy the hell out of it as an adult. At Walt Disney World they had the "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" at the Imagination pavillion in Epcot. It's gone, but I'm pretty sure inside the ride you hear a page for Dr. Zelensky. Actually, this movie came out at the same time as the opening of Disney's MGM Studios. And at the park, they had a whole enclosed kids playground area based on this movie. It had a multitude of giant blades of grass with a wooden, roped playground. There were grass blade slides, a giant Lego piece like in the movie that you could climb into, a giant Antie sculpture you could climb on and pretend to ride, etc. I totally felt like you had been shrunk to the size of a speck like the kids were in the movie. And the play area lasted for at least a decade. It was amazing theming and I had a great time there as a kid.

    My family went to Disney World in 1993 and Disney Land in 1994 (I was 8 and 9 years old respectively) and in one of the two they actually DID have a Honey, I Shrunk the Kids section! It was a portion of the park (I don't remember which one) that really did have a giant yard section AND a giant bee kids could hang on to with a green screen and a huge fan! They superimposed the bee part of the movie with you in it! IT WAS SO COOL! I believe you could buy a frame of the result as a picture or a recording of the result on VHS! Somewhere there exists an image of me hanging on to a giant bee flying through the air... though I have no idea where it is nowadays.

    The cranky neighbor was played by Matt Frewer, a Canadian/American actor who also played Max Headroom. He had a TV series with the character as well as many, many commercials and even a really good song with a band called Art of Noise who used industrial tools to make music. Max Headroom was an eighties look at the future and certain aspects of the show were very spot on. It's really worth checking out.

    And Disney did have a honey I shrunk the kids attraction. It was a play area. Everything was huge. They even had a cheerio that you could crawl through and you'd end up in like a "wormhole" underground. It was SO cool! They tore it down a few years ago to build star wars land. So it was a nice trade-off.

    Hi Jen! This movie was such a phenomenon when it came out. Those special effects were amazing. I recommend the movie The Secret of NIMH. It's a great animated film. The animation is spectacular, the story is really adventurous, mystical, and suspenseful, and it features the wold of mice so everything is all huge kinda similar to this. 🥂

    Epcot and several Disney theme parks around the world use to have a "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" attraction. You entered a theater, wore 3D glasses, and the screen projection was as if you were at a live awards show. Then the shrinking machine gets pointed at the audience, and everything around you blows up. My favorite bit was prior to the "shrinking" a duplication machine is demostrated, and thousands of rats are dupllicated, which then move through the audience and you can feel them under your chair. I went into this attraction a second time immediately after the first so I could figure out how the rat effect worked.
