Hey Jonsie, kid traxx police interceptor has a similar "disconnect" for the charger, it won't open the cut off relay until voltage from the charger is sensed. They're using those big SBS50 Anderson plugs on that, like the dually, and again for child safety they eliminate voltage presence at the plug until charger voltage is sensed. As always, great video, and love that trailer!
Could you do a parts list for the additional 12v 12ah battery, smart charger conversion? Just got the bcp model of this jeep and would love to do this conversion. Great video!
If I make sure to only keep the battery charger plugged in for the time it takes to charge the battery will I generally be okay with the charger supplied with the Jeep?
Awesome video and love the lighting idea. I have thought about using some 12v LED pods that people use on atvs and truck and wondered how that might work out. I have a couple questions about the battery setup. I bought the same jeep for my son and replaced the oem battery with a 15 Amp/hr SLA from Amazon. At first it seemed to increase the run time, but it doesn't seem to have enough torque to make it through even short grass. Would running another matching battery in series help with that? It is still using the oem charger so i'm wondering if that isn't charging the new battery fully or could I possibly have overcharged the battery and ruined it by leaving it plugged in all winter long?
Series wiring will most likely fry the main board on 24 volts. Stock charger will easily overcharge battery. When it's full it will keep over charging.
Hello, I’m curious about your dual battery setup. I understand the parallel wiring. But did you wire from the 7ah to the 12ah then to the L2 Series 13amp fuse? Does it matter which battery goes to the fuse? And my fuse is 13A. Do I need a bigger fuse for the total 19ah? I’ve already done the charger conversion as well.
Battery size has nothing to do with fuse size, it all is rated by the wiring diameter. U want the fuse to blow before the wiring melts. Fuse can go anywhere, it just needs to interrupt the flow of electricity. Both batteries are connected to the fuse since it's parallel not series wiring. Make sure u know what u r doing because series wiring will fry your main board.
Custom Kidz Cars Thanks for the info! Yeah I understand parallel wiring just wasn’t sure about the fuse situation and order of battery but got it now! Thank you!
I purchased the 2 seater hummer 2wd and 2 seater jeep 4wd from BTGC, the hummer has one 12V 10A battery and the jeep has dual 12V 10A batteries. They last about two laps around our neighborhood loop(1mile). I want to replace the batteries with higher amps batteries to last longer, what do you think I should run for max amps on them? Also do you sell the custom charger or am I better off making one?
Is the seat beat custom or stock? My Jeep came with a simple lap strap. Please advise. BTW - Great demo and info! Just ordered a 12 Volt/12 amp hour battery from Amazon and picking up a Everstart 3 amp smart charger from Walmart today. Thanks again!
My sons jeep just stopped going forward by pushing the pedal? It will go in reverse and work by the remote but not by the pedal. Any helpful information would greatly be appreciated
I do not know where to get a replacement item. I have tried where we bought it and they offered a replacement for the entire jeep. I just need the shifter
Hello, I'm just about to get one of this lovely Jeep for my little one. I do also want to add extra battery, like you did, maybe I'll replace it for One big battery instead of Two. My question to you is that I'm considering to installing Gel battery, because of deeper discharge tolerance, apparently. On your videos you are not really taking about this type battery. It's any reason ? Thanks.
Is there anything you can do to increase the power a little I'm still going to try the mod you did to get it to last longer I didn't no if Maby there was a better motor to put in the rear that would help
Any motor that has higher rpms will boost speed. Typically that results in a loss of torque. It's on my list of mods to try out on this model. Stay tuned...
Custom Kidz Cars I did the two batteries in parallel as well as adding the LED lights like you did. My wife was remote controlling this car while my 35 lb son sat in it today. I have driven him in it a few times. Wife heard a strange noise but decided to run the Jeep anyway. Now the motors are about toast. One was cold to the touch, the other was so hot it burnt my fingertips. I saw it was a 550-C motor. Possibly 9000 rpm? I do not know what motor I can change this out with that is better built but doesn't have such high RPMs that it strips the teeth off the plastic gears.
That sucks! What is the tooth count on the motor pinion. I would look into powerwheels brand stock motors if u can match the pinion. If not u can pull the pinion and use RC 32 pitch pinions. Hope this helps
Hi. My Jeep came incomplete. The rear axle is missing and my sons bday is on Monday. I don't have time to return the product so would you have the specs to the rear axle
U will need to parallel connect the positive wires and the negatives together. Basically a "Y" connector from the Jeep wiring and one end to each battery. Make sure to keep the fuse in line between battery and harness.
bought this Jeep for my grandsons 5th b-day won't do anything we suspect circuit board the only thing that works is the light when to push button start no noises where can I buy parts at esp circuit board
If it's new it is under warranty. First I would make sure all the plugs are connected and use a volt meter to check for voltage at the motors. Did you charge the battery and disconnect the charger from the plug? It won't run with the charger plugged in. Hope this helps
Just to confirm with your dual battery and smart charger setup, you plug in the modified battery charger to the coax plug and it charges both batteries simultaneously without overcharging them? I'll be getting one of these for my son's birthday and want to do these exact mods. Good work! Looking forward to see more videos on how this project turned out
It's the port that needs modified, not the charger. U need to remove the diode to allow voltage from the smart charger to flow to the parallel wired batteries.
@@CustomKidzCars yes sorry if I explained that wrong, I understand what is being modified, but with the everstar charger in the configuration you have it running through the coax port that then runs to the batteries in parallel will it charge both batteries to full without overcharging even though their different? Hope that is a better explanation.
Thank you so much for the quick response. One last thing, anything else you recommend or wish you could have done prior to/during assembly? Ive got another month before his birthday so wanting to make sure I do this right so it last him years to come and is always fun. Love the channel btw, I've spent hours watching, excellent work!
Personally I would upgrade the wiring from the control board to the motors and the battery wiring. I am sure u saw the fire in the utv video!! I would have been shock if it didn't completely melt like it did on that stall current test.
Only just noted the fault. If you have batteries in series as you have the ah rating should be the same. You see you will flatten the lower rate batter beyond what it should be and the charge won't load balance, so over charge the large rate. Rest is good and informative though.
@@CustomKidzCars yes sorry. Do you see the issue of how you would drain one battery and over charge the other? The batteries would try to equalise but this would take a fairly long time. You can /could install a load balancer between the batteries, but it's easier to just use the same rate batteries.
K B pretty easy actually, it will require re wiring the motors and shifter. The biggest negative is you will loose RC control. U will need to keep the 12 v sound effects.
Just like anything custom it depends on what model and options you have in mind. Please pm us on our page is the best way to communicate with us. Tx. facebook.com/customkidzcar/?ti=as
Awesome tip on making a smart charger! Now I can leave it plugged in overnight without worry that it's going to over charge and kill the battery.

yep, you are correct. On that one we just add a new charge port because it works on a relay. Thanks for the info.
Could you do a parts list for the additional 12v 12ah battery, smart charger conversion? Just got the bcp model of this jeep and would love to do this conversion. Great video!
I’m hoping to the additional battery myself. I was wondering exact model of the battery
Would you happen to be making any metal gears for the drivetrain on this model jeep
I assembled one of these yesterday, for my granddaughter and it wont take a charge. any suggestions?
thank you
James Banks did u plug the battery into the wiring harness?
If I make sure to only keep the battery charger plugged in for the time it takes to charge the battery will I generally be okay with the charger supplied with the Jeep?
Yes
@@CustomKidzCars thanks, i just assembled the one I bought my daughter for christmas.
Nice, she will love it. Stay tuned for upgrade videos on these big toys products in the future.

We don't sell parts. I would install the biggest ah pack that will fit to increase run time
Custom Kidz Cars okay thanks for the heads up. Is it safe to run a high amp charger? 10amp charge for example or should I stick to a 3amp?
Way too big of amps. Stick with the 20% rule. So 12 ah pack would be 2.4 amp charger
Okay thanks for all the info! I appreciate the help. And keep on building sweet rides for kids. I can’t wait to see this one finished!
Where did you get the harness?

Custom harness for the little guy
What wires did you run the wiring for custom KC lights on the front into?
Tied the LEDs into the 12 volt battery. Power runs to switch then to LEDs
Hey jonesie I was wondering with this battery charger upgrade will you still be able to control it with the remote control?
Yes

Did adding the second batter increase the speed and power
Matt Blatnik no it's in parallel so it made the run time longer. You can't series wire this model without risk of killing the control board

Tank you so much
hey I have one of these but the battery is dying fast...like less than 30 mins especially if I go up hill...do u know what could cause this?
Kevauny Tulloch the charger is not capable of shutting off when the battery is charged. You have most likely damaged the cells from overcharging.
great job guys

Have you thought about using 18650 lithium batteries to power your cars? You can make your own custom power banks that dont suffer from overcharging.
Go eat somthing lol
Why do you think it'd blow the board at 24v? People do that kind of upgrade all the time.

Yes, the voltage will equalize. Ideally they should be the same size and type but if u don't over discharge they will be fine.

Mighty max 12ah
