The Dumbler only sounds Dumblish because it has boosted mids and is somewhat of a transparent drive. I have the Rowin version and it’s pretty good - if you put a compressor (not a lot compression either) before it you’ll get more of that Dumblish tone. It’s a great drive pedal by itself.

Nice review. Glad to see the reviewer liked the Dumbler. I have no idea what a Dumbler amp sounds like but the iSet Dumbler pedal is a favorite of mine. I’ve A/B’d it against the Caline Pure Sky and while the Dumbler sounds a tiny bit darker and compressed than the Pure Sky the trade off is the Caline has a more noticeable rasp sound as the notes decay. Once you hear it you’ll always hear it. So it’s a tossup. But, if I had to choose one I’d take the Dumbler.

There must be a factory in China somewhere that makes the boxes for these small effects pedals. They are all the same, regardless of manufacture! The insides vary, but having just started collecting pedals for an up-coming project I am really quite surprised at the affordability and uniformity of design I'm seeing in these pedals. It's a golden era for effects pedals IMHO. I'm going to end my line of pedals with an amp sim. Currently thinking about the Solid Studio, which seems to do it all.

One of those interesting flavours of overdrive that despite liking, seems like I’d possibly have a hard time making work in my rig in everyday situations. I’ve been having a blast trying so many cheap OD pedals lately (plenty of them thanks your channel). I used to pretty well get my pedal fix through verbs and delays..good sounding drive pedals were for the boutique guys in my head at least. It’s nuts how many great sounding cheap ones are out there now.

The Mooer, Donner (that I have), Rowin etc are all the same -- Mistress-style flanger/filter matrix, hence the switch to turn off the LFO. After watching TPS talk about using flanger for chorus-like sounds I recently got a four-knob flanger: rate, depth, return and manual, the latter being the all important control that varies the delay time around which the LFO modulates, allowing variation from flanger short delay to longer, more chorus delay times.
The pedal I got is an Eno BF-03, now in bright pink and green! The chorus is phenomenal, almost like the dimension of the TC Electronic 3rd Dimension. There don't seem to be many four-knob (MXR style?) micro pedals around now unfortunately, much less variety available.

    I'm getting tired of this.
It's time that I just made gain and waveshaping modules that just plug into your chassis and then you can learn about pedals while having a shoebox full of pedals that you can reassemble at any point and you can buy the 15 buck modules as you go so it's kind of a kid's dream until they can afford an actual $99 guitar processor. An expression pedal that can have different modules slammed into it? Like a module to make it a Wah, volume, power wah, rotovibe, etc.
Synergy already commercialized my amp brain idea but granted it wasn't much of a leap after I realized that a lot of amps actually boot now.

Noise gate never goes first. After drives and before modulation is usually where they go. Your noise gating your guitar signal, how noisy is that ever?? Come on Ryan!!

When it comes to delays.... if I just want a generic delay, I’ll use my amp’s on-board effects. If I’m gonna spend money on a delay, I want something just completely weird lol

is it ETHICAL to buy pedals that are this cheap? we know Amazon has disreputable labor practices even amongst its American workers. how exploited do you think the workers (in Asia, i assume) have to be to turn a profit on a $20 pedal?!?! what are the conditions on the supply side?
