Love the last version of the painting and have loved a couple previous versionss of it too. It's time for me to give abstracts a try. You're persistance in adjusting this piece is inspiring.
@ thank you to you for sharing your knowledge and providing us with such a great channel. I love watching you as your so authentic and of course your work. 🥰🤶❤️
Hi Julia. Here in the States we have a special product called Workable Fixative specifically designed to fix charcoal, chalk pastels , maybe even oil padtels(I’d have to check the label). It doesn’t bubble the paint when you spray it on. And you can work over it too. If you were looking for the bubble effect that’s one thing but if you weren’t, then the Fixative would be a good choice. Just thought I’d share in case you hadn’t heard of it.🤗Your abstract’s coming along really well! Love that you’re persevering until you get what you want out of it!!
@ Julia I ran to get the spray can.Krylon Workable Fixative. 1306. Protects pencil, pastel and chalk . Prevents smudging. Allows easy rework. Acid free/archival-safe It requires a few coats but I’ve found it really works and will not smudge when I varnish using a brush.👍🏼
@@astridglodek3099 I spent a month painting an icon. And used a quick dry liquid varnish. It smudged my artwork. Since then. I’m too scared to use anything liquid. And only use spray varnish.
Julia, if I looked that good at my very best, I'd be over the moon. This painting looks terrific with the expansion of darks. When you added the red area, I was worried. Thought you started the work and someone else finished it (for Christmas). Then your brushwork in nuanced blacks came to the rescue. Just my preference, no criticism intended because you always save the day. I love it as is and find it regressive to appreciate oil paintings simply because the commercial marketers have always pushed them as more valuable. Hope things calm down for Christmas. Thank you for all you share.
As artists, we put our heart and soul into what we create. It's a very vulnerable place to be. It can feel like we're naked on our canvas. Every stretch mark, every scar, every fear, every piece of pain is for others to see, especially when we're showing others our creative process. But also at the same time, our joy, our strength, our light shines through. You are a brave soul. It takes so much courage to do what you do. During the holidays we have wonderful memories and challenging ones. The expectations we put on ourselves can often be overwhelming. We want to be a blessing but often we forget our own self care while trying to bless others. As a reminder to myself, it's OK if everything is not perfect. As the Holy Spirit fills your cup, may it over flow. You are an amazing woman of God. This new transition Father is taking you through can be confusing and frustrating at times, but it's a good thing. This coming new year is going to bring you a new thing. Much love to you on this incredible journey! Isaiah 43:19 New International Version 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
I'm not getting your abstract but I know there are many layers to go. Looking forward to seeing when you think it's done. I really enjoy your process and letting us know what your doing
I know that sigh. We all know that sigh. Sighs are the bubbles popping on the breakthrough that's brewing. The only thing I think about the painting is that with the yellow and greens I would expect to see mauves and purples and maybe some merlot (to help you loosen up and kill the knee pain) and 1/3 less black.
In my very humble opinion, in this crazy world it's OK not to have "balance" within a work isn't it? The painting has energy and vibration with color choices so does it have to have balance? I think that we as "viewers" to pieces of art we always do not need perfection, right? Asymmetric art still has it's place, doesn't it?
I like it vertical

Wonderful! I am leaning in front of you!
I really love the "vibrational visual noise" it reminds me of a beat of a song I used to listen to from Nine Inch Nails back in the early 1990's. 😍
Julia slow down and enjoy the holidays. Your painting is coming together.
This is great advice. Thanks for taking the time to write. I will listen.
I love your abstract.
Merry Christmas to you and all your subscribers 🌟🤶
Christmas creeps up on me every year and I’m never ready 😂
Happy holidays! Thank you for the greeting!!

Great information. When I was at college we used hairspray
Looked it up and they sell that fixative on Amazon. Going to get it. Thanks
I will check that out! Thank you so much.
@@mariadelaart5897I remember using hairspray too!

I think ..it's totally not for me...but..I enjoy watching you enjoy yourself 😊
Fair enough!
Are we tired? Yes. Are we having fun though? Absolutely!!! 😅💜

I’m 64 and exhausted. Trying to get ready for the holiday and paint, it is not working lol. Merry Christmas Julia!
Lots to do for sure.

I vote for vertical - either way. Love it!

You and me both!
First vertical is a twister.
Overall, it is OK when hung horizontally. However, the dark part looks busy when hung vertically. Reds gave it a good balance.
I'm about to get in the garden, but my body is sore from being to much in the garden, wish me luck I don't get sun burnt. Sunny summers day.
To me it looks like a " Rooster" in abstract of course in Vertical way

Needs teal.

I just don’t get it. I have never understood this type of abstract or the appeal of it, but as long as we’re having fun.
Right? I think it’s about applying my colour knowledge balance and form. An experiment of skills!
