I have a 10 month Cairn named Scruffy. They are so much fun and very curious dogs. So smart. Scruffy is the same color as Toby. Cairn's love children. Toby is darling. I am so happy for your family.
Cairns are the best....not too big, not too small, low shedding, loving, spunky, and adorable. You’ll ❤️ him! Sadly, my current one is scared of kids-very unusual for this breed😬
I'm 24 and I had 3 cairns in my life. The last one, Voyager, passed away in january 2020. He lived 15 years by my side and was my best friend, also like a little brother to me (I have human siblings though ha ha). He was always here for me, following me everywhere, comforting me when I was scared or sad. He loved to play even when he was very very old, and was also very fond of hugs. Cairns are sweet and kind dogs, and they really are a member of the family. Voy's death really broke my heart. Now that I live on my own, I decided to adopt a little cairn girl next month and begin a new adventure with her, even though I will never forget Voyager. To me, you chose the best breed in the world ;) I hope with all my heart Brandon will have with Toby the same relationship I had with Voyager ! I send them a lot of love !!
Wow, my story was just about like yours. Just lost my Kohl of 13 years, had him for 11 after adoption. I can’t say more about these dogs, they are sensitive special characters and they have so much love. They do indeed love hugs, every time I’d get him he’d come up to me and I could put my head down to his and could lean up against his until however long I’d like. He was so special, and he changed my life forever. I’m sad to see him go, but I couldn’t have asked for anything better than what he gave to me. ♥️❤️♥️
I actually let mines grow her natural coat. I clipped around only the areas that needed clipping. I hand stripped her coat and my vet technician did the nails. I absolutely love these crazy curious little dogs. Mines only stuck with family and the animals she grew up with. These small dogs can have big dog attitudes and will attack when it comes to strange animals large or small, its better to keep them away at all cost. Kerry was very easy to walk on a leash and she reminded me to walk her all the time. Kerry passed this passed November 2020 and I miss her greatly. I will get another cairn terrier for sure.
I remember when we got our cairn terrier when i was 5-8 years old. I used to play with him so much everyday but it sadly passed away 3monts ago :( Rest in peace Otto
Cairn Terriers are the best!!! Toby is absolutely adorable. My 13-1/2 year old female Cairn passed away last year and I miss her so much. She was so full of energy and loved playing until she passed away. She had a few favorite toys that she had from the beginning and one of them was a little hedgehog and it was "bald" and no longer squeaked but she still loved it. I'm sure your family will have lots of fun with Toby in it.
My cairn Voyager loved some toys too ! He had a stuffed butterfly he used to carry everywhere, it was insanely cute ! I'm so sorry you lost your girl, I know how heartbreaking it is and I send you a loooot of love and support in your grief.
Hi Krista and Kevin! I'm a sub from your bird channel! I like your new dog! Pearl seems a bit jealous she isn't getting any scratches 😂 poor Pearl. But I'm sure they will be friends!
I have a carin at my home. He’s 11 years and still acts like a puppy. Just be sure to train Toby well. Cains are very mischievous dogs when they want to be.
guys can you tell me your bird breeds and tell me things about the breed because i’m getting a bird but i cant get a rescue bc i live in saudi and the bird rescue’s are hours away and i’m way too busy to be in a car for like 5 hours without internet but i can play with the bird for over 5 hours bc i can go in my zoom meeting and wear air pods and play with the bird anyways ;( and tell me beginners advice!!
Sadly a fairly large number of rescues will not adopt out to homes with children in them or other pets in them. In some situations it doesn't matter what the other animals in the home are, they just say no other pets to help reduce any potential for any kind of conflict. It is the same reason for the no kid policy. Many kids are great with animals, but on the chance they are not, there is a chance for harm to happen then the dog is back in the rescue. It is a policy based on fear and "what if??" Many rescues don't have the training or funding to do a detailed interview of the families, or inspection of the homes so they just go off questions on a page and accept or deny off that. It is sad and will hopefully change one day.
Depnds on the dog and how much work you are willing to do. Dogs are predators, budgies and other birds, are prey animals. You need to work with the dog so it knows the budgie is not just another toy. The birds wings should never be clipped if you have a dog, and they should never be unsupervised. Ideally you will want the birdcage in a room the dog does not have access to. People have done it successfully, but it does take work and a lot of vigilance.
Justice League Fan999 - You just have to be careful and always monitor them. We put either the birds or the dog away if we're going to be out of the room. 😊
I just got mine 2 days ago. She's 7 weeks old. A little bundle of joy.
Perfect companion for your young Son.😁

Is it safe to have a Budgies and A dog?
Of course! I also have a budgie and a lab pup
