The intent of the price guidelines is to make sure the NDIS is fair, consistent, and attracts the right providers who will help innovate the scheme.
The NDIS is built on the idea that you know your disability needs best, so you have choice and control in the services you access. The price guidelines has a bit of wiggle room to assist in this.
Knowing the rules, or where to find them, will help providers make sure they are being compliant, and helps NDIS participants self advocate by knowing when something is not quite right.
The conditions in the price guidelines trumps any service agreement between a provider and participant, so check that any service agreements are in line with the rules.
As a participant, you do not need to disclose that you are an NDIS participant to a provider, you could potentially be able to negotiate a better rate if they are not aware you will claiming the cost via your plan.
