In the original Japanese version of the line he says “undo the surgery… live a normal life…” Basically the same but this version kinda hits harder for me.
The part where he said "you found a friend", it sounded very... fatherly, like a father telling his son that he was happy and proud of him for developing such a close relationship with someone. Damn... Was NOT expecting that from him of all people, but then again, that's Fromsoft for you, always exploring the complexity of the human spirit, and it's many varied (of concealed and not expressed) intentions...
Well 621 is a gen 4 augmented human, said to be very socially withdrawn (explanation as for why we aren’t voiced) and not only that, walter realizes we’re fighting for the exact same reason he is. I like him because despite ordering us around, he always demanded respect for us from others, and shows us that same respect in the end

Agreed! You've got Walter, starting out with the expectation that you'll probably die before finding the coral, only to slowly become more attached and start looking out for your character's wellbeing and actually sounding glad in the end when he realised you made a friend. Speaking of, you've then got Ayre, she's got your characters back since the end of the first chapter, helps you out in fights and even finds work for you as much because she enjoys going on missions with you, as you enjoy shooting the crap out of everything in those missions. And in this playthrough, when it comes down to it, you've got her back too, siding with her against the corporations, Carla and even Walter. And on top of all that, you've got Rusty, who pretty much looks out for you the whole way through this playthrough When you climb the wall he backs you up against the juggernaut and when it's over he straight up tells you that Arqebus wanted to sacrifice you. Then when you fight him, yes he's definitely trying to kill you, but he's also concerned about whether you've found a reason to fight or if there's anyone you care about enough to fight for, and in turn if anyone cares about you. And in the end, the guy straight up signs on as soon as he hears your name, fights alongside you and eventually dies taking down a fleet of warships to make sure you have the best chance of succeeding. Accidental essay but hey, I like this game too much to shut up :D
I just beat the game and got this ending. I beat Walter, but I stood there silently. I wanted to cry because of what happened to him and how you have to fight him. I had hoped he would actually be an alright operator after all. I was right 😢 his motives were understandable even if they weren’t right.
I feel what made this fight even more engaging for me was beating him first try and in a way it felt so wrong to kill him just like you have beaten your father or mentor
so its not super obvious in this ending, but hes also been kind of brainwashed. when arquebus captured you, they also got walter. he kind of planned for this though, which is why youre able to escape. walter isnt so lucky, and he goes through the "re-education" program which im assuming is a fucked up version of augmentation

I love this trend From Software has of playing a variation of the main theme as the final boss song. It was amazing in elden ring and it was amazing here too. The big ass smile i had when i heard that motif from the trailer was unmatched.
The only "good" ending. No mass genocide. No sudden, catastrophic forced evolution. The story of the ending is the story of Walter choosing not to take the last shot. Of knowing all the horror that *could* happen, but choosing to trust someone you care about. Of sacrifice, in the hope for a better way.
imo none of the endings could ever be considered good fires of raven ends the coral war once and for all but in doing so, causes genocide on an unfathomable scale liberator of rubicon stops the war but only temporarily. the corps and PCA underestimated the RLF and will not do so again, the war will continue and likely become even bloodier as the corps make even bigger pushes. the 3rd on (i can't remember how to spell it) is well... you get the idea to me its less about what ending is most good and more about what are you willing to sacrifice to end this war

It was really sad to see what Arcibus did to my boi walter. Knowing that V2 had put him through forced coral augmentation and slaped him in an old ibis AC to serve as there hound against his will was heartbreaking. You can even tell walter was in pain and destress when he talked to 621, it even seemed like he was struggling to maintain controll over his own thoughts and actions. Even seeing and hearing ravens coral friend. Only possible through coral augmentation surgery, the same one raven got. But in walters case u can tell it was far more intrusive of a surgery than normal
I kinda imagine it's like Ein from ibo when they did a AV surgery into a experimental mobile suit to save his life with tubes and coral shoved into his brain
I really want to know what happened to Walter here. Did he get captured by Arquebus and turned into a Gen 9 with a control device? Did his mind get taken by the Coral or some institute technology and he got turned into some kind of augmented monster??
Arquebus says they took him for re-education same as you. What I like to think is that he was released as a weapon during the fight for Rubicon. But some manner of his will remains trying to still light the fire by stopping you.
The way I look at is that Arquebus essentially sacrificed Walter's soul to become one with coral thus we see him piloting an Ibis-class mecha only powered by coral. Like the other commentor mentioned, he's half-alive fighting to keep his friend's dreams alive, but then he realizes you've also found a friend, and are fighting to keep their dream alive.
@@CLARENCErr I think they fused him with coral too but the item descriptions for his AC parts say that its the only Ibis-class AC made to be piloted by humans, so theres a good chance hes in the mech or atleast parts of his body.
I love the HAL parts because of the way all of it parts and vents from its legs up opened up to reveals glowing heated inner parts during armor cooldown

So...what happened to Rusty? Did he straight up die or did he survive after he was shot down by Walter? I kinda dig the whole Pixy vibe coming from him and it'd be a shame to not see him again in the future.
When we run away, we do it backward, like we were still looking at him one last time. After everything, Handler did care and have faith in us, that why I choose the Fires for my first ending and I still prefer it over liberator. Though this ending have better moments.
But his AC seems to me like an Big ragna the bloodedge reference to me -red -Green and red eyes -Stubborn and ungiving as hell -still cares about the ones close to him

After 3 hours non stop trying to kill arquebus balteus, got this on my second try. Classic fromsoftware having the final boss be easier than the ones close to the end. Such a sick fight tho.
@@jeph7434 I typed that on my first playthrough. I struggled A LOT on my second playthroughs boss. Third ending I got first try. Prob a lot of it had to do with build switching. but also just getting better and having os tuning maxed
he survives if you burn rubicon leaving a message to you in the post credits, he says thanks for following his legacy and that he wishes you now to be free and lead your own destiny
@@LeW_42 it's very headcanony. Walter would've been on Rubicon during the burning unless The Factory they sent him to is off world. Unlikely though. The only way he doesn't suffer brainwashing it looks like, is in the True Ending.

Walter was brainwashed and put into that AC, forced to fight, and as he aims that weapon at us he manages to wrestle back control and give us one final farewell. And in the cutscene there is actually a rare instance of 621 showing empathy or something along those lines. While Walter aimed his weapon at you, primed and ready to fire, 621s AC is just standing there. Not aiming a weapon, not in any combat stance, almost like they are hesitating to kill Walter. As we all should know 621 being a Gen 4 Augmented Human means emotions are heavily suppressed by the surgery. So that means whatever 621 was feeling in that moment was strong enough that even they couldn't bear to kill Walter.
the ng++ ending confirms that walter's AC actually belongs specifically to him, it sports his logo in the arena and he is politing it in the ng++ timeline without arquerbus's brainwashing as he was never captured by them, as for 621 i interpreted 621 not aiming back at him during the cutscene as us conceding defeat, that if walter wanted to complete his mission that badly then 621 would let him do it.
After the floating city is reactivated there are 2 paths that leads to different outcome, take on Carla (Walter will be the final boss) or take on the Corporation (Ayre will be the final boss) this video show the former choice.

I mean all of them died in the FOR ending anyhow lol. It's even worse for Walter, at last here we put him out of his misery and let him die content. While in FOR he'll most likely be Arquebus's slave for a long, long time.

I also think there's a meaningful difference between people you know dying as a result of factors outside of your control and killing them with your won hands. Essentially, I don't want to kill Carla or Chatty and knowing they die anyway doesn't change that.
@@wolfiewoo3371 No we don't. Arquebus still exist as shown in the FOR ending cutscene where they and the PCA and Balam agreed to never set foot on the devastated Rubicon ever again. Besided there are no hints that the Factory (not the reeducation camp) is located in Rubicon. Could've been off-planet for all we know. Heck there's a possibility that Snail survived in FOR since it's canon that he was fighting in Xylem and not on Rubicon and would most likely turn tail and run after Freud and the interceptor fleet failed to stop Xylem.

The fact you could hear ayre pleading, yelling even to tell you (Raven/621) and walter to stop fighting was enough to make me pause the damn masterpiece of a game and bawl my eyes out.
I would say that Last Raven has a good ending. In the pulverizer and zinaida endings, all corporations, the internecine and all other ravens are destroyed leaving humanity the chance to start over.
This was caused by Arquebus's re-education, not Coral. Walter's very last words should show you that even he realizes that mankind and Coral can coexist.

We see no matter what that Ayre is not satisfied with her current state of being, and wishes to merge humanity with coral, sacrificing everything that makes you human. A lot of people want to believe that Ayre has humanity's best interest in mind, but there's no way of knowing. There are no good or bad endings.

Depends on how you look at it Pretty sure the other ending is more of a case of you kill a loooot of people and burn planets and remove coral technology from being a possibility, but you guarantee humanity continues without a collapse Or in this ending, you potentially doom humanity to a coral collapse, but with the potential for a better future (assuming you and Ayre are successful at preventing the collapse) where humanity and coral co-exist So it's less good ending, bad ending and more risk vs reward on a massive scale
I must say - I prefer the "bad ending" over the good ending. Even though I don't understand how Walter seems to be fine in the bad ending despite the exact same stuff happening. But man do I feel shit for killing this guy.
No he wasn't fine In the Fires of Raven time line he was going through re-education by Arquebus after being captured but was not in time to be released for the final phase of the missions since you fight Snail and Freud instead presumably they were enough for the mission on Xylem So Walter died together with the Rubicon branch of Arqebeus in the flames Meanwhile my theory for the Liberator of Rubicon is that they released Walter prematurely on the HAL suit which could be why he still has his old consciousness slightly intact instead of sending Freud who could be busy dealing with the Rubicon Liberation Front

Walter and Carla were consumed by fear of *what might* happen if Coral is not eradicated. At the end of the day, both sides are equally as strong in their convictions.
@@The_Blank_Guy my reasoning on why i chose the "bad ending" was that these corporations would never stop to try and seize the coral and exploit it. unfortunately, the confict would continue and new corporations will be made for that end, and as the coral continues to reproduce the conflict will become galactic. it was an unfortunate scenario, but ayre's promise to find a way really doesn't hold much reassurance to me by seeing what could happen if we are wrong...
This ending being the good ending is BS. The fact that you betray your friends and people that trusted and saved you from Arquebis just to follow some voice from the Coral that wants coral to survive when they don't even have a plan on what to do. Coral is some sentient that is trying to keep itself alive, Carla and Walter want to destroy to stop this coral war. I think the other one is clear good ending.
Burning the coral would trigger another fires of ibis and wipe out life on Rubicon as well as life on other nearby planets. There could be trillions of lives caught up in that. The good ending isn't perfect either as the corporations are still around and even though they are beaten. Given enough time they'll rise once again to go after the coral that has been fully extracted. 621 can keep opposing them but everyone has their limits.

Its not the war that they wanted to stop. Its the theorized calamity that could ensue if the coral reaches space. Which apparently it would have exponential growth rates. Like a flood. That said blowing uo the coral would also kill everyone on rubicon so regardless. You kill a lot of people either endings. But you protect the galaxy with this ending i guess
I feel like a big point is that the Coral is sentient, so in the Fires ending not only are you committing one genocide of humans, but two genocides, killing off a race of fledgling sentients that haven't been given much of a chance. Sure Ayre's hopes are vague, but they leave the door open for the future.

@@daethmer7834 the way i see it its basically like a sentient highly flammable fungus or algae Which isn’t too unreal on one part, Biofuels are pretty common irl. Algae and fungus for fuel. But usually we convert them into alcohol or oils. Sentience is kinda odd so with that we can consider coral basically a sentient alien race. Sentient fuel, FUN! The thing that confuses me is how it has “directionality” my best guess is how it chooses a desired direction to flow towards is maybe the coral can choose to detonate bits of it in a controlled way. Maybe coral does not ignite like starting a fire but like C4? But that wouldn’t explain how volatile it is. How i visualize it is imagine you had a droplet of gasoline but only one side of it is burning pushing the rest to the other direction.

It doesn't actually "think" the way we do outside of rare C-Wave mutations like Ayre or Seria, and generally acts on impulse like a swarm of insects. Long answer: There are notes scattered throughout missions, as well as weapon descriptions that give you bits and pieces of info on what Coral swarm intelligence is; basically, it's a hivemind of self-replicating particles that can be used as an energy source or information conductor. It's like a fungus or algae in that the coral doesn't "think," but there are rare C-Wave mutations like Ayre that have the capacity for thought independent of the swarm, brainwave communication with those receptive to their signals, and direct manipulation of technology. We can communicate with said C-Wave mutations because we underwent an older form of human augmentation that makes people more receptive to their "voices," but C-Wave mutations are the exception-- not the rule; it's the reason we can hear Ayre, but not any of the other Coral voices clearly. On that note, there are other ways to become receptive to the voice of the Coral (taking it as a drug like the Dosers do, or being directly exposed to it and getting "contaminated" by it). To those that can't hear the Coral, it's basically schizophrenia-inducing since we're ultimately hearing voices that aren't there, but that's the whole reason Walter wanted to burn the Coral; if enough of it gathers in one spot, it'll burst out into space the way a fungus spreads its spores, which to a scientist that doesn't understand the coral, means that it'll contaminate more people.

that was the last straw for me. I don't like the liberator of rubicon and ale iacta est endings; I prefer fires of raven. Unfortunately, we have never had an ending where Carla and Walter are alive, but at least we can continue their mission, which is now our mission: to burn everything down to the last coals.

If you look at it at face value then sure, except Walter is a complex character. Despite what others may say, I think burning Coral to save multiple star systems inhabited by a Type 2 civilization has more weight than sparing a single planet based on a speculation and a promise of humans coexisting with Coral.

If we go with that, then the death of a type 2 civilization without a doubt would be good for the environment, as they literally siphon all planets they could get their hands on for resources.. - At this point, humanity no longer concerns itself with the environment as they are capable of living without any regard for it. They have the technology to do so. The only reason why our current society concern ourselves with all these environmental agendas is due to our nature of self preservation, if you take away that problem then there would be no reason to concern ourselves about it. In AC6, they no longer live in one single planet where the threat of environmental abuse could wipe out humanity. They only concern themselves with how they would move forward. To the eyes of those living in a type 2 civilization, the war that took place in Rubicon is something insignificant. Profitable yes, because of the energy it possess, but insignificant because they could just look for a new planet for resources. This was made evident when the PCA declared Rubicon as a dead planet at the Fires of Raven story. - So the real question is whether you are willing to gamble with Ayre at the risk of wiping all of humanity, or are you going to side with Walter to protect humanity from being potentially wiped out from the threat of coral.
@@Mugwyn They werent real clear as to what the Coral could actually provide, at least in my opinion. Is it an energy source? Absolutely. Obviously in this world, fossil fuels have been used up at this point, and nuclear energy has probably run dry by now, who knows, but I personally would love to have a more in depth detail of this particular world this game revolves around in. What if humanity actually needed this energy source to survive and keep going? Sure, its definitely a risk. But so is nuclear power today. Chernobyl is a result of a huge drawback of tapping into long lasting energy, highly risky. Coral is an energy source that seems to last longer, and go further than that. What if the planets that humans do live on, are exhausting energy resources, because of the limited resources, and coral was the actual answer man kind needed to survive? Sure, like I said, its highly risky, but what if it was truly necessary to help mankind keep going, instead of going extinct? The story is so far into the future that I dont know if humans could use their primal instincts to survive anymore. Also, how many worlds were Terraformed so it could be inhabitable so humans can go on, and Coral was the best energy for such a task? These are questions that definitely wont be easily answered, imo anyways, just because of the brief descriptions this story offers. Also please excuse the delay in the response. @@frankjager2420 but the thing is that, coexisting with coral would mean not using them as fuel. Ayre really hates the idea of coral being used as fuel (she was deeply apalled by it, as seen on the C spider fight). So in actuality, humanity will get no benefit if 621 sided with coral besides maybe cultivating mealworms for the RLF, but even that in itself isn't true symbiosis. The reason why Dolmayan and Seria (his own version of Ayre) got to the conclusion of pursuing coral release was because coral was still being consumed (albeit in a smaller scale compared to what institute did in the past), but Dolmayan backed out, because he knew that humanity would be wiped out, I am not sure to what extent does Dolmayan know but i believe that they would have to undergo the process of something similar to augmentation, and not everyone will survive such process.If such event were to occur, can humanity still be considered human or are they coral? If they were to become a techno-organic consciousness, wouldn't it mean that humanity would cease to exist?

You've got Walter, starting out with the expectation that you'll probably die before finding the coral, only to slowly become more attached and start looking out for your character's wellbeing and actually sounding glad in the end when he realised you made a friend.
Speaking of, you've then got Ayre, she's got your characters back since the end of the first chapter, helps you out in fights and even finds work for you as much because she enjoys going on missions with you, as you enjoy shooting the crap out of everything in those missions.
And in this playthrough, when it comes down to it, you've got her back too, siding with her against the corporations, Carla and even Walter.
And on top of all that, you've got Rusty, who pretty much looks out for you the whole way through this playthrough
When you climb the wall he backs you up against the juggernaut and when it's over he straight up tells you that Arqebus wanted to sacrifice you.
Then when you fight him, yes he's definitely trying to kill you, but he's also concerned about whether you've found a reason to fight or if there's anyone you care about enough to fight for, and in turn if anyone cares about you.
And in the end, the guy straight up signs on as soon as he hears your name, fights alongside you and eventually dies taking down a fleet of warships to make sure you have the best chance of succeeding.

All this did was make me angry with Arquebus Walter was a good man and in the end he was proud of 621
I just beat the game and got this ending. I beat Walter, but I stood there silently. I wanted to cry because of what happened to him and how you have to fight him.
I had hoped he would actually be an alright operator after all. I was right 😢 his motives were understandable even if they weren’t right.
On top of that, in spite of everything, with his last words just seemed genuinely glad that 621 finally found a friend
I feel what made this fight even more engaging for me was beating him first try and in a way it felt so wrong to kill him just like you have beaten your father or mentor
so its not super obvious in this ending, but hes also been kind of brainwashed. when arquebus captured you, they also got walter. he kind of planned for this though, which is why youre able to escape. walter isnt so lucky, and he goes through the "re-education" program which im assuming is a fucked up version of augmentation

I love this trend From Software has of playing a variation of the main theme as the final boss song. It was amazing in elden ring and it was amazing here too. The big ass smile i had when i heard that motif from the trailer was unmatched.

It was really sad to see what Arcibus did to my boi walter. Knowing that V2 had put him through forced coral augmentation and slaped him in an old ibis AC to serve as there hound against his will was heartbreaking. You can even tell walter was in pain and destress when he talked to 621, it even seemed like he was struggling to maintain controll over his own thoughts and actions. Even seeing and hearing ravens coral friend. Only possible through coral augmentation surgery, the same one raven got. But in walters case u can tell it was far more intrusive of a surgery than normal
I kinda imagine it's like Ein from ibo when they did a AV surgery into a experimental mobile suit to save his life with tubes and coral shoved into his brain

The "re-education" program of Arqeubus is much worse than just augmentation. They literally merge the pilot to the ac, as mentioned in the data logs.
I really want to know what happened to Walter here. Did he get captured by Arquebus and turned into a Gen 9 with a control device? Did his mind get taken by the Coral or some institute technology and he got turned into some kind of augmented monster??
Arquebus says they took him for re-education same as you. What I like to think is that he was released as a weapon during the fight for Rubicon. But some manner of his will remains trying to still light the fire by stopping you.
The way I look at is that Arquebus essentially sacrificed Walter's soul to become one with coral thus we see him piloting an Ibis-class mecha only powered by coral.
Like the other commentor mentioned, he's half-alive fighting to keep his friend's dreams alive, but then he realizes you've also found a friend, and are fighting to keep their dream alive.

Walter was brainwashed and put into that AC, forced to fight, and as he aims that weapon at us he manages to wrestle back control and give us one final farewell.
And in the cutscene there is actually a rare instance of 621 showing empathy or something along those lines. While Walter aimed his weapon at you, primed and ready to fire, 621s AC is just standing there. Not aiming a weapon, not in any combat stance, almost like they are hesitating to kill Walter.
As we all should know 621 being a Gen 4 Augmented Human means emotions are heavily suppressed by the surgery. So that means whatever 621 was feeling in that moment was strong enough that even they couldn't bear to kill Walter.
the ng++ ending confirms that walter's AC actually belongs specifically to him, it sports his logo in the arena and he is politing it in the ng++ timeline without arquerbus's brainwashing as he was never captured by them, as for 621 i interpreted 621 not aiming back at him during the cutscene as us conceding defeat, that if walter wanted to complete his mission that badly then 621 would let him do it.

After the floating city is reactivated there are 2 paths that leads to different outcome, take on Carla (Walter will be the final boss) or take on the Corporation (Ayre will be the final boss) this video show the former choice.

No we don't. Arquebus still exist as shown in the FOR ending cutscene where they and the PCA and Balam agreed to never set foot on the devastated Rubicon ever again.
Besided there are no hints that the Factory (not the reeducation camp) is located in Rubicon. Could've been off-planet for all we know. Heck there's a possibility that Snail survived in FOR since it's canon that he was fighting in Xylem and not on Rubicon and would most likely turn tail and run after Freud and the interceptor fleet failed to stop Xylem.

I would say that Last Raven has a good ending. In the pulverizer and zinaida endings, all corporations, the internecine and all other ravens are destroyed leaving humanity the chance to start over.
Walter's ending was the good ending and you can't change my mind. Coral is bad for humanity and seeing what it did to Walter is proof of that.
This was caused by Arquebus's re-education, not Coral. Walter's very last words should show you that even he realizes that mankind and Coral can coexist.
Both the good and bad ending are just Rubicon Simulator that Allmind put 621 through...

Or in this ending, you potentially doom humanity to a coral collapse, but with the potential for a better future (assuming you and Ayre are successful at preventing the collapse) where humanity and coral co-exist
So it's less good ending, bad ending and more risk vs reward on a massive scale

In the Fires of Raven time line he was going through re-education by Arquebus after being captured but was not in time to be released for the final phase of the missions since you fight Snail and Freud instead presumably they were enough for the mission on Xylem
So Walter died together with the Rubicon branch of Arqebeus in the flames
Meanwhile my theory for the Liberator of Rubicon is that they released Walter prematurely on the HAL suit which could be why he still has his old consciousness slightly intact instead of sending Freud who could be busy dealing with the Rubicon Liberation Front

Walter and Carla were consumed by fear of *what might* happen if Coral is not eradicated. At the end of the day, both sides are equally as strong in their convictions.
@@The_Blank_Guy my reasoning on why i chose the "bad ending" was that these corporations would never stop to try and seize the coral and exploit it. unfortunately, the confict would continue and new corporations will be made for that end, and as the coral continues to reproduce the conflict will become galactic. it was an unfortunate scenario, but ayre's promise to find a way really doesn't hold much reassurance to me by seeing what could happen if we are wrong...

This ending being the good ending is BS. The fact that you betray your friends and people that trusted and saved you from Arquebis just to follow some voice from the Coral that wants coral to survive when they don't even have a plan on what to do. Coral is some sentient that is trying to keep itself alive, Carla and Walter want to destroy to stop this coral war. I think the other one is clear good ending.
Burning the coral would trigger another fires of ibis and wipe out life on Rubicon as well as life on other nearby planets. There could be trillions of lives caught up in that. The good ending isn't perfect either as the corporations are still around and even though they are beaten. Given enough time they'll rise once again to go after the coral that has been fully extracted. 621 can keep opposing them but everyone has their limits.
Sure burning the whole planet and killing bilions both coral and humans is the good ending
Its not the war that they wanted to stop. Its the theorized calamity that could ensue if the coral reaches space. Which apparently it would have exponential growth rates. Like a flood.
That said blowing uo the coral would also kill everyone on rubicon so regardless. You kill a lot of people either endings.

I feel like a big point is that the Coral is sentient, so in the Fires ending not only are you committing one genocide of humans, but two genocides, killing off a race of fledgling sentients that haven't been given much of a chance. Sure Ayre's hopes are vague, but they leave the door open for the future.

The thing that confuses me is how it has “directionality” my best guess is how it chooses a desired direction to flow towards is maybe the coral can choose to detonate bits of it in a controlled way. Maybe coral does not ignite like starting a fire but like C4? But that wouldn’t explain how volatile it is.
How i visualize it is imagine you had a droplet of gasoline but only one side of it is burning pushing the rest to the other direction.

Short answer:
It's a hivemind of self-replicating particles that can be used for a multitude of things. It doesn't actually "think" the way we do outside of rare C-Wave mutations like Ayre or Seria, and generally acts on impulse like a swarm of insects.
Long answer:
There are notes scattered throughout missions, as well as weapon descriptions that give you bits and pieces of info on what Coral swarm intelligence is; basically, it's a hivemind of self-replicating particles that can be used as an energy source or information conductor. It's like a fungus or algae in that the coral doesn't "think," but there are rare C-Wave mutations like Ayre that have the capacity for thought independent of the swarm, brainwave communication with those receptive to their signals, and direct manipulation of technology.
We can communicate with said C-Wave mutations because we underwent an older form of human augmentation that makes people more receptive to their "voices," but C-Wave mutations are the exception-- not the rule; it's the reason we can hear Ayre, but not any of the other Coral voices clearly. On that note, there are other ways to become receptive to the voice of the Coral (taking it as a drug like the Dosers do, or being directly exposed to it and getting "contaminated" by it).
To those that can't hear the Coral, it's basically schizophrenia-inducing since we're ultimately hearing voices that aren't there, but that's the whole reason Walter wanted to burn the Coral; if enough of it gathers in one spot, it'll burst out into space the way a fungus spreads its spores, which to a scientist that doesn't understand the coral, means that it'll contaminate more people.
You could have just used "Final Boss" only and not include Handler Walter in the title. This video showed up in my feed and now I got spoiled. WTF?

I felt more guilty fighting Ayre than Walter, because you were a pawn to Walter, an investment. Ayre actually cared about you, so that fight was betraying a friend. Walter, youre breaking free of your master
If you look at it at face value then sure, except Walter is a complex character. Despite what others may say, I think burning Coral to save multiple star systems inhabited by a Type 2 civilization has more weight than sparing a single planet based on a speculation and a promise of humans coexisting with Coral.

@@frankjager2420 actually its not really which of the two scenarios are more good for the environment. If we go with that, then the death of a type 2 civilization without a doubt would be good for the environment, as they literally siphon all planets they could get their hands on for resources..

At this point, humanity no longer concerns itself with the environment as they are capable of living without any regard for it. They have the technology to do so. The only reason why our current society concern ourselves with all these environmental agendas is due to our nature of self preservation, if you take away that problem then there would be no reason to concern ourselves about it. In AC6, they no longer live in one single planet where the threat of environmental abuse could wipe out humanity. They only concern themselves with how they would move forward. To the eyes of those living in a type 2 civilization, the war that took place in Rubicon is something insignificant. Profitable yes, because of the energy it possess, but insignificant because they could just look for a new planet for resources. This was made evident when the PCA declared Rubicon as a dead planet at the Fires of Raven story.

So the real question is whether you are willing to gamble with Ayre at the risk of wiping all of humanity, or are you going to side with Walter to protect humanity from being potentially wiped out from the threat of coral.
@@Mugwyn They werent real clear as to what the Coral could actually provide, at least in my opinion. Is it an energy source? Absolutely. Obviously in this world, fossil fuels have been used up at this point, and nuclear energy has probably run dry by now, who knows, but I personally would love to have a more in depth detail of this particular world this game revolves around in. What if humanity actually needed this energy source to survive and keep going? Sure, its definitely a risk. But so is nuclear power today. Chernobyl is a result of a huge drawback of tapping into long lasting energy, highly risky. Coral is an energy source that seems to last longer, and go further than that. What if the planets that humans do live on, are exhausting energy resources, because of the limited resources, and coral was the actual answer man kind needed to survive? Sure, like I said, its highly risky, but what if it was truly necessary to help mankind keep going, instead of going extinct? The story is so far into the future that I dont know if humans could use their primal instincts to survive anymore. Also, how many worlds were Terraformed so it could be inhabitable so humans can go on, and Coral was the best energy for such a task? These are questions that definitely wont be easily answered, imo anyways, just because of the brief descriptions this story offers.

@@frankjager2420 but the thing is that, coexisting with coral would mean not using them as fuel. Ayre really hates the idea of coral being used as fuel (she was deeply apalled by it, as seen on the C spider fight). So in actuality, humanity will get no benefit if 621 sided with coral besides maybe cultivating mealworms for the RLF, but even that in itself isn't true symbiosis. The reason why Dolmayan and Seria (his own version of Ayre) got to the conclusion of pursuing coral release was because coral was still being consumed (albeit in a smaller scale compared to what institute did in the past), but Dolmayan backed out, because he knew that humanity would be wiped out, I am not sure to what extent does Dolmayan know but i believe that they would have to undergo the process of something similar to augmentation, and not everyone will survive such process.If such event were to occur, can humanity still be considered human or are they coral? If they were to become a techno-organic consciousness, wouldn't it mean that humanity would cease to exist?
