Hey folks! Thanks for watching! This has been a long promised video, that while not perfect (sorry about the mic noise), hopefully it covers all the questions I’ve had about the set up. Thank you to the very kind folks that have requested this one - actually the most requested thing on my channel! Hope you enjoy the video!

Gavin, thank you for showing us your rig and how it all fits together. I really understand how getting rid of the laptop is a great aim, computers are amazing things but when they go wrong or do something more clever than us, they become ultimately the most frustrating things on the planet. Also it only takes a software update or some kind of hardware failure to leave you in the dark.
The pedal board may be quite intuitive to you, but how it all fits together is a mystery to me. Love the answer to the shoes question that was a real eye opener (VANS are the best). The synth table and the usb and midi and ableton and midi to rack and back to the TR8 probably makes sense, but not having ever used any of this gear it just left me going...."wow how do you come up with all this?". I guess these are the bread and butter tools of modern music making.
I think you should tip your hat to Hainbach and get a really good reel to reel tape player into the rig, it could do backing sounds and tracks and also just be there looking totally cool.
From writing the album to recording it and then putting together the live rig that has had to have been a huge amount of work, I hope you got a real buzz from the creative energy it produced. I am sad to have missed the live shows, but plan to rectify this error with the next album.
Thank you Gavin for what you do and for putting together this super video, I hope the knee is working at full volume again now.

Thank you so much Martin! Yeah the laptop still scares me but the good news is that I think I might finally have the solution to replacing it… we shall see if that pans out though! Haha
Oh don’t worry, I still look at the rig sometimes and think “what were you thinking?!” 😂 But like all things, with time it gets comfortable and now I could never look back. It’s a lot like learning to drive, at first it feels like so much, but after a while it all falls into place. It was also handy that the rig was able to develop organically as the songs were added to the set too, so each element was designed on its own and then melded together.
Glad you liked the shoe answer, I was so happy to see that question! Love my Vans!
I love that idea about the nod to Hainbach! I do have a small reel to reel… may need to give that one some thought! Great idea 👍
Thank you, it really has been a blast to do all of these things and it’s thanks to the support of people like you, has let me do things this year that I never thought I could with my music. It would be great see you at a show, would be great to catch up! 👍 And the knee is definitely on the mend again, thanks.
Thanks again for your continued support. It really does mean a lot.
      Thanks
      Gavin
