Just came across this video today. Paul, here's a idea for You when I saw the issue of when You removed the lower rad hose. My partner & I used a old gas tank cut in half for catching the anti-freeze and it worked perfectly.
My first truck was a 65 chevy, same color.....I miss that old wreck. Awesome to see a FabRats vid and Matt's Off Road Recovery vid both drop on a sunday morning. This is my church service
I love the old international trucks. When I was 4 years old in Fredonia Arizona our neighbors had an old one that I claimed as mine. I spent hours playing in the old blue international. Cool project. Make it burn tires in the parade.
It’s good to have an experienced supervisor around you never know when you may need their advice! Just last weekend I was supervising a deck been built at my sisters house, they did a good job.
The "Old School Hand Break" sure looks familiar from my younger years . . not telling ya'll either! Liked that candy dispenser made for the family - three thumbs up on that.
That old international was my grandpas old truck. I remember riding to the farm in it with him when I was a kid. When he died garkaine bought it off of my grandma and painted it black
Paul and Matt first thing on a Sunday, the best start to a day. Lol. So, I got a Land Rover advertisement in the middle of the video. Then Paul says "Why do cars need all that wiring". Lol. Made me laugh. 70-80k Land Rover advertisement on Paul's channel. Lol.
When I was 18 I had a 67 C10. One afternoon at my buddies house with nothing to do he pulled out a box of keys with no home to see if any would work. He found four that would unlock the doors and two of them would start the truck. The old locks were not that secur.
Yup, many times missed the bucket. Luckily most was outside. It always amazes me that there's So much room in the engine bays. Big blocks should be standard. 527 or something......:) Mm-mm Big block. Nice international too. Hi Michele.
Hey, regarding the cab mounts. Those are 3/4 ton mounts. You can convert to 1/2 ton mounts by swapping the brackets and using 1/2 ton rubber bushings. I have a full set of body mount bushings I'll send you, all you gotta do is buy two 1/2 ton brackets from LMC or Brothers. I have the same truck, same color. They're sweet!
If this engine has been already worked on some time in the past, I would check the crank to be sure that it wasn't turned down, so that it would need oversized bearings.
I like when Paul's Dad hangs out. My dad is always hanging out with me in my garage when I'm wrenching on trucks. I can really relate to you all keep being good people living the good life.
Paul I always look in gas door sunvisor under driver seat bottom side and glove box for the key when I buy an old car or truck now I guess I'll have to look next to Hood hinge... Like you said bright side you have two keys now.. great video and I can't wait to see you put a big block in it
I had an old Blue Chevy pickup 69 they just don't make em like that anymore! I enjoy when you are outside My Dad lived in St George he passed last Wednesday, but loved going fishing out there.
They are called half elliptical springs. At one time before coil over or air SCORE trucks were using them on their rear suspension. We would put a screw jack just infront of the clamp to adjust the ride hieght. Used with limit straps they made sure the wheels hit the ground quickly off the land rush jump. Which is highly desirable because time out of contact with Tera Firma is time wind can slow the truck. You probably could have just put a gas can and hose to the fuel pump on the ol girl. I do it all the time. I also built adapters to go on the forks of my Yale lift truck to move vehicles. They fit frame rails to receiver hitches and have a pivot point like a fifth so then you can tuck stuff away real easy or drag it in the shop super easy. If those mains are that wiped out, the crank is absolutely going to be not round. You can bolt bearings in but it will have oil pressure problems almost for certain. The connecting rods also should be made round again too. Most importantly, it did look like a 400 if I heard correctly from the little bit of the balancer I could see. Unless the person who "thought backward" put a 350 crank in that block to make it a 383 in which case why is the 400 balancer on it? 400 is an externally balanced engine and wasn't paired with manual transmissions because of the external balance. So unless the assembly was internally balanced when they built it last. Your motor could go boom exceptionally fast. How it lived to make those bearings that wiped out is an enigma which the answer is most likely that the motor wasn't in the truck all that long before it was retired to you. I certainly hope you take the time to investigate and find out.
If I remember right you have a few motors in the shop. But if you're making room for a big block then it makes sense. Can't wait to see you make that video. Keep up the great work.
HEY, I had a Dodge Coronet 440 with a 318 V8, light yellow in color. Had it since 1966 till around 1992 and never had any issues with it.. Great first car!! Just saw that gray one next to the chevy truck, and it brought back fond memories..
Paul next time you're at a big box lumber store stock up on small and large mixing tubs for ground mixing concrete/mortar(same isle) They're the ultimate catcher for radiator swaps, transmission pan removal, diesel oil changes, ATV rack baskets, parts washing, small equipment snow/rain covers and about 1,000 other things, it's like if the utility of a 5 gallon bucket was a well kept secret 😄👍don't accidentally buy the fancy ones, smalls should be less than $10 and large less than $15
One more hot tip, harbor freight of all places actually has an assortment box of maybe 50+ body shims for around $5, since this discovery I now use those for all manner of unintended uses aswell 😄 👍(just be prepared that they include about 15 of different useful thicknesses, and about 40 of the thinnest size that you will only ever need 2 of almost 😄)
Hey Paul and Crew You just have too much fun with your projects, I like it ! Ya know a small block FORD would have been the better choice for the old binder. But ! I think ya went with what ya had. That Granny 4 speed is a brute transmission. I actually have one behind my 327 in my 27 T bucket. Granny low is great for crusing a car show or a parade. Thanks fur the entertainment. Be Safe and Well
Thank you again another great video fantastic job filming.. i’ve been trying to send a letter to Fab rat. Well get it done in one day.. [Only complaint I have never long enough ] everyone keep up the great work..
The problem with the candy dispenser is that it will always be empty. I came home one day and tried to get a candy and the wife had covered the mouth of the jar with plastic wrap:)
Third freeze plug on the sides or prevision for a third one I thought dictates if it’s a 400, also externally balanced harmonic can’t remember. Obviously true telling is center Siamese cylinder and added cylinder head steam holes.
I checked with a friend who had a 63 to 66 Chevy C20. Those cab mounts were factory optional. Also available after market as a kit. Tim thought that they were done by a suspension company.
You should start a makeup with Paul where Paul has to guess what the makeup is and used for. Or something that he would not know about. It could be fun!
Hiii Dear Friend Paul & family !!! That old Chevy truck will be a great project !!! So many options can't wait to see what your plans are, more anxious to see the end product with full make-up !!! Now is it ONE out of 2 or is it 2 out of 2 !!! But where is the son Willys ....? OK keep fit and strong every one of the family be united around the hard working Papaaaaa ! Warm regards from French Guyana !!!!
On your IHC KB2, the temperature sender works backwards from most 1950 up vehicles. I know, I have a 41 IHC K5 truck that was converted from the Green Diamond 223 to the Black Diamond 240 over head valves. Some people around here are putting small block Chevy with auto trany into those IHC K pickups. For body shims, check out Dorman. That is where I get mine. Hello from north east Montana. 10 miles from the Canadian border.
The way you can tell if it's a 350 or a 400 , the 400 block has 3 freeze plugs on the side and the 350 has 2 freeze plugs, keep doing what you do and God Bless You and Your Family
At the age of 15 I bought my first truck A 1963 Chevy with the same blue as yours. I had that thing shining like new by the time I got my license and then at 16 got my license and beat the hell out of that truck but it never left me stranded . I would like to find one in as good of shape as yours and build it the way it should have been.
Nice, Caution on those Harbor Freight lights..Avoid dropping them, ( magnets are strong & well above avg ) ive gone through Plenty, most had defects, the wiring in the LED end is not the best, The battery end bezel cap will wear to the point the end cap will be hard to get on & sometimes the seal will fall apart.. Batteries are interchangeable with universal size and other external chargers, Overall though for the price of retail they are not bad with anything build quality could have been better & light output is very good. As long as you take care of the lights they will last some time, Performance while in top shape is better than nearly any available, Though i would suggest buying backup batteries, the default ones usually last 3 months before they discharge and never regain full charge capacity. ( former tech, used for avg 4+ hours of 8 hrs every day )
Michelle, I've done 71 years on this planet and I haven't used makeup a single day. Maybe if I had of, I would be 45ish. I don't break mirrors as I pass by yet, so I'm getting by. Taikuu for another great video.. On to the next... Ok, so I watched a video from another fab shop, (I'm sorry, don't ban me) this guy shot the whole thing in real time, no breaks and explaining every move, I could only do about half of it before I had to leave out the back door.. Sorry other fab shop. Maybe I'll learn my lesson and stay here where I feel at home. From Fairbanks, Alaska USA...

So, what size is the motor? You started off saying you were putting a 283 in the International, then said the Chevy had a 350, finally when pulling it you said you thought it might be a 400. Great program, fine editing. Nice that the whole family gets involved.
It amazes me that little blue truck still has a working functional emergency brake/handbrake. Vehicles these days after the first year they don't work always rusted solid...

My first truck was a 65 chevy, same color.....I miss that old wreck. Awesome to see a FabRats vid and Matt's Off Road Recovery vid both drop on a sunday morning. This is my church service
I also had the same truck. But it did not need overload springs, it carried a full load of wet oak no problem.
67 C10 was mine. With. 292 straight 6 and three on the tree.
I love the old international trucks. When I was 4 years old in Fredonia Arizona our neighbors had an old one that I claimed as mine. I spent hours playing in the old blue international.
Cool project. Make it burn tires in the parade.

Just last weekend I was supervising a deck been built at my sisters house, they did a good job.
Nice looking trucks both of them. Michelle your humor is more important than the makeup, stay safe and healthy.
Michelle attitude, and activities matter more than appearance and attributes. dont worry about the lack of makeup
been begging my wife for years not to wear make up. looks way better without it. unfortunately, falls on deaf ears.
Love watching your projects. Thanks for posting. Between you and Matt my day is complete. 👍👍👍👍👍. Fabulous video. Particularly loved the ending.
Gpa is living a dream in this video . Wish you woulda started sooner on youtube!. Gma is still in the vid's. Keep it going !
Always being a blessing to others. People just want to bless you all back. Awesome fans. Thanks for sharing 😊

Lol. So, I got a Land Rover advertisement in the middle of the video. Then Paul says "Why do cars need all that wiring". Lol. Made me laugh. 70-80k Land Rover advertisement on Paul's channel. Lol.
Those waste oil catch cans are brilliant at repelling liquid and diverting it to where you don't want it.
Good morning and thank you for the entertainment 😊
Fab show ,,, always look forward to fab rats , and what they get up to ,,
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,👌
Sounds like a fun project can’t wait to see how it turns out on
love you're stuff man and the editing is fantastic also . keep up the great work . i am a fan from across the pond . Northern Ireland .

That old Chevy truck will be a sweet project build. So many options when starting from scratch. Can't wait to see what your plans are for it.
scratch?
@@DieselRamcharger Sorry bro, Aussie slang for "A fresh start or build"
No matter where you put the bucket, it will ALWAYS miss.
Nice work Paul! Keep up the hard work on the International. Can't wait to hear it. They better give ya a raise man!
Such a sick truck!
I like when Paul's Dad hangs out. My dad is always hanging out with me in my garage when I'm wrenching on trucks. I can really relate to you all keep being good people living the good life.
Nice project.Love every one of your videos Paul and you have a wonderful beautiful family.
Paul and Michelle show . Paul I sure hope that 350 mounts up
in that frame with out to much trouble .
Ever tried oven cleaner from the dollar store to degrease a motor? Works good!
I’ve had a lot of success doing the same. Great tip btw!
Interesting
This bloke is a seriously excellent version of a good guy .
Good call, whoever sent you those Harbor Freight fold-swivel worklights. I've found that on the high setting, they generally don't flicker on camera.
Paul I always look in gas door sunvisor under driver seat bottom side and glove box for the key when I buy an old car or truck now I guess I'll have to look next to Hood hinge... Like you said bright side you have two keys now.. great video and I can't wait to see you put a big block in it
I'm glad you plan on doing something with that old Chevy, I love those old trucks.

Definitely some sweet vehicles in your stash! Really excited to see what they turn into
It is always entertaining interesting and you never fail at that
Very cool....can’t wait for the rebuild!
You've got good fans there. I'm now curious to see the plans for that donor truck, glad it's going to see new life.
If I remember right you have a few motors in the shop. But if you're making room for a big block then it makes sense. Can't wait to see you make that video. Keep up the great work.
Always a treat to tune into YT and boom an episode. Thanks FabRats!🤙🏽❤️😊

How did I miss this video? It's good to see your dad in the shop and that shop is soooo empty by comparison to nowadays.
Always enjoy the posts Paul and Matt make, wish yu had three a day each.
Always looking for your videos, keep it up.

😂 we see your soul when you laugh , talked , smiling we don't care about makeup you are beauty
in fans eye its enough to show up for a while 😉 ....
Dang, that donor truck has some awesome patina!
I checked with a friend who had a 63 to 66 Chevy C20.
Those cab mounts were factory optional. Also available after market as a kit. Tim thought that they were done by a suspension company.
In 1973, I bought a 1963 3/4 ton Custom 20 with a 283, 3 speed on the floor. Wish I had it today.
Engine rebuilding time! Lots of good fan mail things!
You have an interesting collection of vehicles. That old blue Chevy is pretty nice.
I'm a sucker for watching tired grungy old chevy small blocks get torn down, cleaned up, rebuilt and fired up. Look forward to the videos.
You should start a makeup with Paul where Paul has to guess what the makeup is and used for. Or something that he would not know about. It could be fun!
A couple of nice little projects 👍🇺🇸

Yours, Matt's and Colin Furze is my all time favorite TH-cam channels along with my own but I got to say Fab Rats is #1 of the 4
the chevy pee'd all over the floor because it got scared of Paul's great work.
...old iron rides again, good one, stay safe...
Sbc is the best engine for any old truck or car👍🏻
They are good engines. Wish he had said what was wrong with the International's engine. It's a shame the stock engine couldn't be fixed.
its a shame that no cars will ever be this simple again. They will only get more and more complicated.

That 65 chevy pickup is my dream truck
Paul: This is the donor motor.

Also, Michelle is awesome!!!
So, what size is the motor? You started off saying you were putting a 283 in the International, then said the Chevy had a 350, finally when pulling it you said you thought it might be a 400.
Great program, fine editing. Nice that the whole family gets involved.
LOVE LOVE That truck !
Great video Paul. Not sure which truck I like better. You sure revealed a lot about that old chevy. Stout truck.
ah so many possible derby cars can't wait for action on the derby channel hope soon
I love my square body but the 60's era GM trucks will always be my favorite.
you make that look easy, thanks for the vids cant wait for the next one
Its amazing how Paul can take a hunk of junk and make something useful out of it!
My first vehicle was a 64 chevy. Looked just like that. I wish I had it today and I am 58 now. Man I miss that truck.
You made it look simple job tearing down that engine..so professional
It amazes me that little blue truck still has a working functional emergency brake/handbrake. Vehicles these days after the first year they don't work always rusted solid...
Grandpa Sherm is awesome
That Chevy looks like a great project all on its own.
Need to fix the flathead!
great video .. get some hot orange paint ,, when i do engine work like that i also run a tap and die clean up the threads ,, engine could have been marked correct and put together wrong .. hard too say .. easy engine lots of room . I pre prime the oil pump before i start them ,, just got to get er done lol can't wait
The body on this truck looks pretty prime. Hope it gets rebuilt at some point.
Love old trucks cant wait
