    I just sold our 2015 4runner, I can honestly say it was the best vehicle we have ever owned .The quality of a Toyota is something I will really miss. I had to buy a F250 to pull a large travel trailer.

    For the pedal commander, when you go into 4-low also put the pedal commander into economy mode. This helps greatly with the lesser throttle response needed in 4-low.

    My husky LOVES my 4Runner. Shepherd could care less about having a rear window but the big happy hairy monster loves looking at the drivers behind me. I get a kick out of peoples reaction when he wakes up from a nap, pops his head up, and checks out who is following me. Though I have to bring the window up a pretty good bit because he likes to hang out the back and you know huskies aren't the best at taking orders.

    Just got done with the $25 LED interior lighting kit from Amazon. Holy crap what a difference! The trunk lights are amazing for getting stuff in and out when it's dark out.

    Full interior LED was the first thing I did to my '18. Especially useful for the hatch lights in my opinion. I do a lot of backpacking and would sometimes come home after sundown and have to remove various things from my hatch/trunk. The halogens are decent, but they also just seem dated. LED really lights up everything so well.
    I just wish my model came with LED headlights since apparently doing a simple bulb swap isn't ideal because the light housings are essentially tuned for the factory halogens. Could retrofit a newer model LED housing to my '18, but then it gets exponentially more pricey to go the OEM route.

    I don't know. According to TH-cam, I thought the first 5 mods were supposed to be:
    1.) Custom long travel suspension
    2.) 33" mud terrains
    3.) Steel front and rear bumpers
    4.) Rear drawer system including 12V refrigerator
    5.) Magnsuon supercharger, cause for some reason your 4Runner feels "underpowered"

    Great video! But I have to warn you about your front red recovery rings...where you have them attached are actually lash down points for when they came over on the seagoing auto carrier ships and on auto flat beds, so the 4Runner doesn't shift while in transit. I"ve seen some really bad front end damage from using those stock lash down points...when over-stressed. Everyone does it and it can be a very costly mistake! Please keep up the great work!

      Wrong....That is the actual recovery ring...Which is where you are suppose to recover a vehicle from. They are made to break...SOOOOOOO you don't damage the vehicle.

    • @TeamDoc312
      @TeamDoc312 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@statintl Wrong! They're considered emergency towing points(not as snatch points or get my truck out of the mud points), tie-downs, and for transport hooks. Just because they have a nut and it's also welded doesn't make it a recovery point. They're meant to handle the shifting weight, while tied down on a ship at a 45-60 degree angle from the deck eyelets, with either chains or cloth straps. The same goes for road transporting, either from the harbor to the dealer or on a towing flatbed.

    Just bought a 2015 4Runner Trail with 200k miles, runs great *knock on wood*. First purchase was a center console insert safe. Bolts right in there, and is a fantastic addition if you travel with cash or carry a gun and can't go into the bank or Post Office while carrying; just lock it up with any other valuables, nice and secure.

    Rock sliders!! Even if you never off-road. They can shield your 4Runner from parking lot door dings, and they can save you or your passenger’s life if you are T-boned hard by someone. They can also act as steppers, although they won’t be as good in that function as running boards would be (running boards are specifically for steppers, so they’re positioned better/lower for that function…but rock sliders are still ok as steppers).

  • @cra2cra226
    @cra2cra226 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Canvasback in the rear for mulch, etc? I keep a folded green tarp ready for "dirty" trips (which may be different than your dog hair needs). If I unfold the tarp all the way it covers the whole rear, including the crack between the seats, and it goes up the sides, and up the wheel wells, too, if I want. The canvasback covers seem to have gaps and ) and it doesn't pull up my carpet (1:09), and I don't have anything to remove for detailing.
    But most important - tarp's like 10 bucks. I could go through 15 of them (which would take me years) for the price of the Canvasback.
    And they're more functional - when I get the mulch home, I pull the tarp right out onto the ground. Can't do that with the Canvasback.

    • @TRDJon
      @TRDJon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mulch was in bags. Sorry if that was confusing. I just like the aspect of the protection always being in there. Yea there are some gaps in between the seats and stuff too

    • @cra2cra226
      @cra2cra226 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TRDJon No problem. I figured it could've been bagged, but whether I have hauled bagged salt, manure, compost, mulch or even potted plants some of those bags had leaks and loose crap (literally, at times) got everywhere. Lol. Or the top soil on the plant would spill over. That, and the fact that the tarp can allow me to save bucks by hauling large, untagged loose loads is another plus.

    Step one get a transmission line cooler install it. Step 2 change your running gears from 373 to a 456. This lightens the load on your transmission and ensures a longer life plus gives you a little bit more torque. Step 3 purchase sprint booster it's pretty self-explanatory Google sprint booster. Step four by your winch get a synthetic line for it. Step five lift kit. Step 6 armour front bumper for your winch Rock sliders very important rear bumper is optional I got one. Step 7 bigger tires. But most importantly transmission line cooler and changing your gear ratio those are the most important things to do first

      @@TRDJon if you plan on Towing anything at all especially for a distance you should read gear and put a transmission line cooler at the very least. 3. 7 3 gears with no transmission line cooler are not a good combination for towing a small camper or quad runner trailers, you will just put too much strain on your transmission which will cost you more money in the end. At the very least transmission line cooler would be the very first thing you should do if nothing else. You want your vehicle to last you as long as possible so you can get the most bang for your buck don't want it to break down halfway through its lifespan. But do you want I don't give a s*** in my truck is in excellent shape and I don't give misinformation on vehicles I want everybody to have as much fun as I am.

      - I got a SR5 P in '19, once I'm done with Toyota Care, I'll be putting in a K&N air filter. They gave been in my other two cars since '08 and it add a few mpg's. It's roughly $50 depending on the site, it's a lifetime product, and you clean it every 50k miles with a $12 kit. Highly recommend it.

    Great vid. Question. I have a 2021 limited shade. I’m having issues with space for little things like say a wallet and larger iPhone. My biggest complaints about this vehicle so far is that 1) no place to things like keys, wallet, and phone without taking up a cup holder which often is occupied by a coffee. Keys slide around whether you put them in the door, or in front of the console. 2) WAY under powered. For the fuel economy this thing gets, I would expect hat v6 to be putting more hp and torque to the wheels. Suggestions on storage options beside what you shown in the video? Thank you.
