  • This is the Macgregor 26m. The most reliable, fuel efficient, and affordable boat. In the beginning it says 5 minutes but it is really 53 minutes.

@Misiekgren what he said was the skeg will not drag even with the motor down, a lot of folks forget to lift there ob or io and drag the bottom off off the lower unit.

se o fabricante me vender por preço melhor, vou buscar na fabrica e venho navegando até o brasil, só pra fazer a propaganda. sou solteiro e tenho tempo pra nisso. amei o veleiro. lembra uma andorinha peregrina

the main reason is the amount of production. also its not the best sailboat or the best cruiser. I like them pretty good not sure i would buy one

So cool. Do you think a person could actually sail one of these cross-continentally?

I guess so but this looks like a small fair weather sailing vessel. Things break on the open ocean so you'll need parts, tools, and provisions to get you across an ocean. I'd be miserable bouncing around on this thing in the open ocean.

Bit late to the party, but you could easily TRAILER a Macgregor power-sailer like this 26M or the earlier 26X "cross-continentally," say from the East Coast to the West Coast, or from New England to the Florida Keys. Then drop her into the drink and sail wherever you like. You can even use it en route as an RV. These are not really designed to be "blue water sailors" for ocean voyages--they are intended more for coastal, bay or river and lake cruising--But still, lots of folks do take them to the Bahamas from Florida each year. You can safely disregard the nay-sayers and bashers, who, more often than not have never even set foot on one, let alone owned one. It turns out most owners absolutely adore their Macs. I've got a 26X, the precursor model of the 26M shown in this video, and I can assure you, its virtues far outweigh any drawbacks. What you want to do with it should determine which boat you get. If, like me, you want to be able to sail AND motor around, say, Chesapeake Bay at a decent clip, have a nice big comfy cabin with a bathroom, then one of these hybrids certainly won't disappoint you. I can tell you this: Mac sailors tend to get out and have fun on the water A LOT MORE on average than folks with so-called "saltier" blue water craft. Hell, they ain't going to Tahiti. Usually they ain't even leaving the dock.

at 8:55- the skipper is for a lack of a better word...dumb those boats have hydraulics to lift the motor up when in shallow water and when one's putting them into a trailer.... sigh

To all concerned: This man has never owned a Macgreggor of any size or description, never sailed one, yet holds himself out to be expert in all things "Macgreggor." I conclude he is a victim of Münchhausen disease, hurling his skewed barbs at any writer who dares to offer opposing views to his saintly discourse. PS: he had demonstrated an inability to properly interpret what he reads, falling back on embellishment where truth is missing. KNIGHTSIX

of course you can. but there are plenty of other boats more suited for the task. skill, not boat, will get you around the world or over any ocean. That being said, I'd pick a different boat for the task than this.

This is undoubtedly the worst craft ever to hit the water. It fails as a powerboat, and fails as a sailing boat. Marrying poor performance to poor performance creates one god-awful abortion of a boat. Still, if you 'mercans want to carry on buying it, good luck!
