What I did to make the rubber bands work is wrap the gauge with electrical tape to increase its girth, then wrapped the rubber band around the tape then they fit fine.
I connected up oil pressure and temp gauges a couple of weeks ago, got a little freaked out watching the pressure steadily dropping as it warmed up, and not knowing what the pressure should be when idling at operating temp. A quick google search calmed the nerves.

Put an AEM oil pressure gauge in my '16 wrx. Barely enough cord to reach. Love it, just waiting for it to crap out like AEMs do! Firewall access hardest part. Nice video
For the AEM gauge bodies you can 3D print spacers essentially to attach to the posts on the rear of the gauge and then use a rubber band as you would usually do.

I install cameras and gps systems on public transportation and power company vehicles. I bought a 50’ “snake” from Home Depot and it works wonders for running wires! Just cut off about 10’-15’ of the snake, file one end over onto itself and tape. Then run it through wherever you want to run the wires. Tape wires to the folded end of snake and pull through! We call it a “fish” (fishing the wires through) this way you don’t have to slit the edge of your boots/grommets. Just a small hole and push the fish through with wires taped on!
If you ever have trouble getting wires through tricky spots, look into a tool called a push stick. We use them in the IT world when we need to get network cables and other things to go through small holes in walls and other hard to reach places
excellent advice, on my 06 there is an accesshole on the drivers side firewhall and I run my gauge wires through that, makes for an easy hookup to the fuse box
Got both of these transferred from my 17 WRX after taking the parts off that. Luckily my gauge gives enough length for the pressure sensor to reach to the OEM port. Haven't tested to see if a 1/8" Y fitting fits there with the alternator so close though. Man the FA20 was nice for that fitting being in the timing cover 😅
I feel like all subies are the same but I ran all my gauge wiring behind the driver front fender there is also a massive grommet that you can add wiring through it, the stock wiring from the engine bay fuse box goes through it to the interior fuse box
You can polish the plastic shield for your gauge cluster to make it look better than new with just some plastic polish compound. I use it with a drill attachment and takes like 30 seconds.
I agree, I also only use gauges with actual needles that sweep generally too. Digital gauges don't move fluidly enough for me and depending on the lighting(lack of) are unseeable or blinding lol.
@@Smeedia That's why I get the needles... if they every pointing the wrong area....it's noticable to me. And again the light sensitivity the older ya get at night man....
For future reference, anyone needing a replacement aem uego wide band o2 sensor; Bosch part number 17018; o2 sensor will work as a replacement. Its also alot cheaper than what aem will sell you. Just fyi.. happened to me plenty of time with my blob eye wrx
I love all your videos. However, I would like that every time you make a modification, you say the cost of everything at the end of the video, parts and perhaps labor cost. Thanks for your videos bro
i got the same oil pressure gauge in the same spot only way i found way just to use some electrical tape around to hold it in place you don't notice it so much as it all blends in
You should try e6000 glue it’s amazing if you ever want to remove is doable doesn’t leave residue. After I used it never used jb weld or double sided tape.
Curious as to why you chose the dummy switch location for the oil sensor. Is that for access? I did the one in the middle of the block and found it useful as when that sensor goes out, you have the dummy light as a check. My gauge value crashed but the dummy light didn’t do its 4psi trip so led me to know it was gauge and not engine

I’m adding an intake, downpipe, 340 fuel pump 1050 injectors, fuel pressure regulator, boost controller, Cobb sf intake, catback exhaust. And I need an etune. Some people say I must get a wideband, some people say it’s not needed. I’d really appreciate your opinion as I trust you. Thank you!

Wish I could add a wideband on my WRX, but Cali sucks so I have to rely on the stock narrow band and hope it's somewhat accurate Ps narrow band to keep track of readings not for tuning. It's stock tune cuz like I said Cali sucks
I installed an AEM x series 150psi oil pressure gauge in mine but even when connected to the sensor, the gauge just reads "SENS", and never reads any psi. there is good voltage at the sensor and the sensor seems to be outputting the correct voltage on the signal wire, any possibility the gauge itself has failed ?
