Regretted having to leave Denver in 07 where I had lived there for 23 years but looks like it was a blessing in disguise, never want to go back to the place I use to love.
Had to move here for school. I’m rethinking moving or transferring…it is no longer the state I visited back in 2008……recently took a trip to Estes park. It’s beautiful there. Denver is a whole different story, however.
I grew up in Denver. Since the 80s I have watched that beautiful city turn to garbage, I avoid it at all cost now. I lay the blame at the feet of those that hate California, so they leave, relocate to other cities and take their values and ideals with them, turning their new city into the same glory hole they just left. Great plan, hate what's happening where you are at so spread the virus, go back to where you came from and ruin your own cities.
They did that where I live in Upstate Ny, now the hotels are drug and crime infested and just as run down. Plus it effected our tourism now that we no longer have hotels for the seasonal crowd. No more tourism means no shoppers for our local businesses.
Denver force people to southern cities like Colorado Springs and Pueblo. You can't use a public restroom unless you are a aying customer. I recently had a homeless woman follow me around the Dollar store. She was disheveled looking and talking to herself. She kept getting up behind me and all I could think is she just might jump or stab me. My best defense I found was to smile and I said hi. She kinda grinned and she wondered out of the store. Another thing I notice is people hang out at gas stations knocking on my car window asking for cash like I am their mom or someone who is obligated to give money for whatever reason. They never ask "Can you buy me a sandwich?" Its not my place to judge but where does it stop?

But we will give you the means and knowledge to better yourself ! Much BETTER way to approach the problem !

I used to be homeless. The homeless issues will never stop without addressing the real issues. Many need mental health help, drug addiction help, and other resources. Denver claims that they are trying to address the homeless issue, yet keep closing down shelters, leave many building simply abandoned, and don't even care where the homeless go that was in one of the shelters they shut down. Homelessness is a trap that can be hard to get out of. However, with God and a little determination you can get out of that trap.

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado and lived in Denver as an adult. Until April 2021, I owned a condo just blocks from the camps shown in this video. I sold to an investor and bugged out. I saw it coming and sold before it got to the point where people were afraid to buy. Not only did I see it coming, I sold for a good profit just in the knick of time. Looks like some people cannot sell their properties now.
The current average number of days a house for sale sits on the market in Denver is 4. The housing market is still on fire as it remains one of the most desirable cities to live in the US.
Instead of coddling them, take the Japanese approach for in Japan there are no homeless. In Japan homeless are ostracized, humiliated, and punished for not contributing to society and now they have no homeless problem.
Homeless people aren't going away no matter what is done because most have made this lifestyle choice. Most have come here from, other states. They're in Denver because people give them supplies, food, money, clothing. If all of that stopped, they wouldn't survive to crap all over sidewalks and ruin lawns. The biggest problem with this is that no one cares about the taxpayers who live in the area. They have jobs, property, families, educations, and pay big taxes to live in Denver. They just don't matter. I have no concern for homeless people who choose this lifestyle, and wish they could be loaded up and sent to California. If we continue like we are, the problem will just get worse. Stop dropping off food and socks. Stop giving money. Just stop!
Yeah when I am approached by the homeless for money I suggest they are hiring right over there ( pointing towards big box store ) Walmart Home Depot Menards wherever? They get mad ? How can you fix that ? You are right . Don’t feed or enable them same goes for your local and state government. That’s how these problems started
If there were only a couple hundred homeless in each state this would be a problem of the individual. But we now have 500,000 people homeless in all the 50 state's. This is a policy problem with lack of low income housing, addiction treatment, mental health treatment and so many men unable to get jobs because of a minor criminal record. It's too big a number to just call people a bunch of bums. Something is wrong. Anyone can become homeless. I've worked as a counselor for 3 years with this population and there's only a collection of people who are homeless with problems. You can't lump everyone into one category.
Much of this is the result of not building apartments, and regular housing for at least four decades, even as millions of people were arriving in the country. Where were they supposed to go ?? Housing should have been built to keep up with them, but it was often bulldozed instead.
Yet our government encourages millions of illegal immigrants to come into the country while our homeless population explodes. And both will get worse due to "policies" as you said.

Nobody seems to understand that addicts who make up a very large majority of the homeless are simply not “housable” in the traditional sense. Just imagine an apartment building or housing community full of people on fentanyl, crack and meth. People nodding out, fighting, seeking something to steal to pay for their next high and giving bj’s around every corner. The movie, “Escape from New York” comes to mind. It is this thralling ignorance that is and will be responsible for this problem. Furthermore is that many of these municipalities thrive on state and federal homeless aid that does little more than employ a bunch of nonprofit workers who have little to no impact on the problem. As well, a person’s US civil rights will disallow many actions that can be seen to actually help. Even concentrating addicts in prepared camps will bring forth a new set of problems that will result in a higher police presence and more arrests which will be seen as unfair and undesirable to the addict.

You could not be more wrong. The homeless camps all started to become undeniably visible while Trump and his band of crooks were in office. Homelessness is not simply a product of liberal politics. Substance addiction and mental illness are regarded as a moral weakness . In reality, they are medical conditions that need treatment, that might include institutionalization. That type of treatment is not easy to get. Additionally, many are not willing to seek help. They also don't want to stay in the shelters because they don't want to follow rules (no drugs, alcohol, fighting, staying up all night). It's hard to understand all the trash spread about. Compare it to hoarding. Which of course is also evidence of mental illness. These homeless camps attract a criminal element because of the drugs and the drinking. People get robbed and assaulted. I've been homeless myself but I've never lived like this. I've known and worked with homeless people and some of them are grateful and others just take advantage and don't want to change. It is a way of life.
Who's they? The government? You realize the government doesn't produce anything to sell so it can pay for buying up all of the old hotels and motels. Maybe it was to be in jail during winter, lots of criminals do that. 2020 and the park is full of tents and trash. It's happening everywhere but mainly West coast cities. In America the west is warmer and in Canada, Vancouver BC is the only city you could survive during the winter so you get a large amount of the homeless migrating to the west. Finally the city kept there word and moved them all into a cozy hotel, not a cheap run down one but a decent one. I don't know how they are gonna maintain the health of the hotel cause most homeless aren't lazy but depressed so they wreck property fast and they love looking for junk to bring back home, which leads to bed bugs and cockroaches. Now home owners are very picky who they rent to. If you type in any city in North America with the term homeless, you will see tents all along a road or a area.

Seeing what has become of Denver is sad. Growing up there in the 1970's and 1980's was a delight. But an incident that happened to me in 2019 forced me to say goodbye. I was on my way home from work when a homeless person on the 16th St. Mall asked me for some money. I politely told him I didn't have any. He became very angry and slashed my arm with his pocketknife. I moved to Phoenix primarily because it's not that far away (14 hour drive). I drove up to Denver this past August and the homeless problem has gotten worse. Phoenix has a bad homeless problem too but the city will not let the homeless set up tents in front of your house like I saw in many parts of Denver. Homelessness is a complex problem with different causes but the politicians in Denver have added fuel to the fire.
Screw this is if you own property it's yours and if you want no one on it that's also your choice. Every homeless person is there for a reason that they could have prevented at some point. And I say some point menaing if your job was going downhill look for another or if you got laid off there are many jobs hiring but don't just say its because you can't shower or I lost my ID.. both of those issues lie on the person, not others who have put in the work. The stress that comes with homelessness also in turn increases the risk of mental illness. Living without a home can increase fear, anxiety, depression, sleeplessness and can lead to substance abuse as a coping mechanism. Until we have leaders that enact “do good” polices that actually help the homeless by treating some of the root causes of homelessness such as addiction, mental illness, etc. instead of “feel good” policies that only serve to enrich corrupt politicians and their political/academic allies, the problem will never get better. 😔 Don’t let them turn homelessness into an industry.😠
It's all the same problem. Addiction, mental illness, domestic violence, recently released persons from jail with a record and the working poor. Yes. There are homeless people who work full time. I worked with the working homeless as a counselor for 3 years. There needs to be forced mental and drug treatment with the goal of housing at the end of treatment. We stick people in shelters in every state and only 30% of those people get housed. because there are no concrete plans. It's so frustrating.
Giving money to the homeless is like throwing money down the drain. It's better to build a high-rise building with as many small rooms as possible and communal restrooms, bathrooms, and a cafeteria.

DEFUNDED POLICE?
According to a Forbes report from August 2020, at least 13 cities have defunded or are in the process of defunding their police departments:
Cities defunded police departments - National Police Support Fund
New York City
Washington, D.C.
Baltimore
Philadelphia
Los Angeles
San Francisco
Atlanta
Minneapolis
Seattle
Salt Lake City
Portland, Oregon
Hartford, Connecticut
Norman Oklahoma,
Austin, Texas
According to Forbes, funding cuts ranged from $1 billion in New York City to $3.5 million in Seattle and $850,000 in smaller cities like Norman, Oklahoma. However, Forbes also reports that several cities have increased police spending, including Houston, San Diego, Nashville, and Durham, North Carolina.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CITIES DEFUND POLICE DEPARTMENTS?
While anti-police advocates like to say that defunding measures do not have an impact on violent crime, the statistics clearly tell a different story.
In Minneapolis, homicides increased by 60% in 2020, with many of the crimes left unsolved because there are fewer police detectives and other resources to work the cases. Things have gotten so bad that the city’s residents are filing a lawsuit against the city council to restore police funding.
“We are in an urgent state of emergency right now due to the crime,” said Cathy Spann, one of the plaintiffs in the case, told KSTP news. “As citizens, the City of Minneapolis owes us.

I used to be homeless. The homeless issues will never stop without addressing the real issues. Many need mental health help, drug addiction help, and other resources. Denver claims that they are trying to address the homeless issue, yet keep closing down shelters, leave many building simply abandoned, and don't even care where the homeless go that was in one of the shelters they shut down.
Just stop!
Your speaking facts that no one wants to hear.
Gavin Newsom is looking for these freedom lovers. Start busing them there.

That's what Denver gets for too many voters not paying attention to issues. In our part of Colorado we have paid attention.

If you type in any city in North America with the term homeless, you will see tents all along a road or a area.

the Rich get richer by exploiting low income workers, if the housing prices keep rising and people are kept at low income? no one can afford to live! this issue needs to be addressed because the system isnt working for people stuggling financially! it works for the people who already have money and are greedy to keep it pumping in while the people they exploit with low income struggle to survive.....Homelessness is the Governments doing! this mass amount of people need the right support but they are being treated like they have no value, what happened to Human rights?
Yes. It is everyone's problem. These are human beings.
How doesn't pick that go - 'the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer' ! 💀
Why isnt Colorado ( govt) offering the homeless the opportunity to learn a new trade, build skills, via paid community service projects? Common sense, majority of homeless people want to work. They want to earn own keep.
They would like the opportunity to help themselves, and there is no, services like it
🤔
Because most don't want it , too many rules ,which include no drugs or alcohol
The housing crisis is worldwide and greedy airbnb owners play their part. Most homeless didn't ask for this.My homeless family are now seriously ill because they rented all they could get, a mouldy rental. All 3 are now seriously ill, my daughter may have breast cancer because of the mould. The mould specialist recommended demolition, instead after a coat of paint, the death trap was sold. Do not blame the victims, blame the greedy landlords, agents, airbnb owners who will all sleep safe tonight. From Australia, in despair.
Can someone explain to me how US is coz employment is available but too many homeless ?????
They don't want to give up their drugs and or alcohol. Can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped. When CO legalized pot so many people came here with no plan other than legal pot.

The homeless serve as a lesson to the tax payers. Work hard or this can be you.
And the lesson is being over taught.
ALL major metro's have this issues with the "unwilling to work". I know there are those that need REAL help, but many are just not in that category... I thank God that my parents taught me to sustain myself and my family. Is it easy, HELL no but I'm doing it!
Send in the marines......cause these home owners our fed up......

Yea... bring more Maryuanna ... oh what about the anti depressents which the psychiatrists were feeding these people since their child age.... nobody will talk about that..
Sometimes when me and my boyfriend are out and about I see people on the corners and want to give them a little money to try to help them out even though he gets mad at me and tells me that I have issues about those kind of people
did the Soviet Union have homelessness?
Only getting worse
Wow those orange plastic snow fence will sure show and stop them.
It may not stop them but will deter. They look for the most convenient places. Then they litter the area with trash, feces and needles. I know, I sold my property while investors were still hot on the trail of anyone selling in my neighborhood, which was just a few blocks from the 6th and Grant camp.
Looks like owners are having a hard time selling now. I saw it coming and sold just a few months before the way it is shown in this video.
It was still winter when I sold.

Put them on Jared Polis lawn.
What's so hard about picking up your GARBAGE!!!! DISGUSTING!!!!
It would involve a four letter word….work
Screw this is if you own property it's yours and if you want no one on it that's also your choice. Get them out
Mental illness is not “preventable”.
It leads to crime, addiction and most likely homelessness.
@@DIYTFY mental illness is also caused by drugs and certain situations. You can't possibly belive that every single person in Denver tent city has a mental illness that naturally occurred. Many were find working people who developed an addiction that the led them down the wrong path. That can always be prevented by different choices and choosing sobriety but many who get into that situation just let themselves go far too quick and don't realize that life with family friends and a place to live is better then the "fun" they are having. That's just called stupidity and if they get a mental health issue along way from it it's unfortunate. But there are many sober people with born illnesses seeking help that need to be taken of first before the homeless population since they are trying to seek help and want to love a normal life.
@@DIYTFY Why do you think there is so much mental illness?

FU and your poor essay. I don’t have time to unpack that when you can’t make solid cohesive points and every sentence is a run-on sentence.
You make no sense.
@@porcupineparty8598
Because that’s just a fact:
According to a 2015 assessment by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 564,708 people were homeless on a given night in the United States. At a minimum, 140,000 or 25 percent of these people were seriously mentally ill, and 250,000 or 45 percent had any mental illness.
The stress that comes with homelessness also in turn increases the risk of mental illness. Living without a home can increase fear, anxiety, depression, sleeplessness and can lead to substance abuse as a coping mechanism. Having a secure home allows people with mental illness to focus on recovery and treatment.
give the homeless jobs as street cleaners or something similar. pay them slightly more than minimum wage. i'm curious how that type of program would work out. could help... could be a complete failure.
P *3 of 4* Those with income pay rent which is 10% of their net income to the homeless-village for their 2 person _Shelter 64;_ and 20% of their net income as rent for the 4 person _Shelter 100._ Their rent money goes to pay for: *childcare for working parents,* one free meal per day; in the community-room.
create the problem then fix the problem with huge grants from the Government and they do nothing
Homeless people are so messy. 🙄
I hear you. However, there’s a difference between compassion and enabling. We have to help the homeless with their addiction and mental issues and help them get on their feet not turn homelessness into some kind of cruel industry.
You cannot help them if they don't want to quit drugs.
It’s a blue state expect it to get worse Never better …. Example - Detroit 40 years under Democrats never got better
The people must love it because they continue voting the same party in.
@@Thunderbyrd. I will never understand how people can keep voting for democrats even with all the proof of how crappy things are when they're in control.
Detroit's decline was due to the failed Automotive industry. After that it was a domino effect to every other business.
@@elviscobb5922 what’s the 40 year decline UNDER DEMOCRATS excuse for Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chicago, Newark?
Why are the States of Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana,West Virginia, Arkansas, Kentucky, etc. In such terrible shape?

Hey I saw that same guy hammering in let’s go Brandon and Kamala sign two years ago
Save our City! There’s a difference between compassion for the homeless and enabling of the homeless. Don’t repeat the mistakes of LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, etc. LA County blew through over $1,000,000,000 from HHH with an estimated 30-60% used to fund “studies” and “consultant” fees.
All democrats 😂
They already have. It’s called Socialism.
Notice homelessness is big in cities like LA .... And, Denver. Is there a solution?
Got to love those democrat laws
The solution is to STOP ELECTING DEMOCRAPS! How bad does it have to get before people realize the leaders are leading in the wrong direction?
Yes, there are solutions but people would rather blame everyone else and do nothing to actually help.
@@Thunderbyrd. They will vote democrats until the end of there days.
Yes, smarten up...

Good thing we didn't go their like we planned
house keys is not solving much.there is a much bigger problem going on which is what started the homelessnes
Maybe if they didn't throw their trash everywhere these property owners and cops would never know they were there.

Denver? Portland? Seattle? Salem? LA? NY? Fresno? Sacramento? USA?

Giving money to the homeless is like throwing money down the drain. It's better to build a high-rise building with as many small rooms as possible and communal restrooms, bathrooms, and a cafeteria.
