And this morning I finally found this video, it's called "Comfortably numb", I was confused but I'm not give a rush for it. And this is it! Exactly. When you try to recreate the original exactly, it'll always always be worse, and it'll be pointless, and it'll never replace the original. Every single great cover ever, was substantially different from the original. Think All Along the Watchtower by Hendrix, or With A Little Help From My Friends by Joe Cocker, Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin etc. Covers that are their own song, they're unique, they're really a completely separate thing from the original, and so they stand aside and complement the original instead of trying (and failing) to replace it.

When I first heard this cover I was walking round a clothes shop and this snuck into my consciousness playing on the shop PA. Having not heard of the Scissor Sisters at that point I naturally assumed The Bee Gees were accompanying my nervous break down/flashback and that only I could hear it. Still not fully recovered over a decade later and keep expecting a Doors medley from the Beverly sisters at any moment. Really should have taken it easier in the 80s...

This is just one of those songs where every time there is a cover version released it adds a new dimension to the track that the original didn't have. I'm a big fan of pink floyd and a fan of scissor sisters and although this version isn't the best, it stands out as a very unique take on a classic song and deserves merit for that.
Exactly. Like it or not, it highlights how many facets are in the original song. This is so different and yet the song doesn't break despite all the changes. That's a testament to PF's song writing, that they wrote such a robust track, and SS's ability to see how far the track could be pushed.

That's what I thought, damn good cover especially as so many covers pale in comparison to the original and are often a lazy attempt to cash in on somebody else's hard work to avoid having to come up with something themselves, which may very easily flop. Very likely if they have that attitude and lack of talent and commitment. Yeah, it's not like the original at all. The original was very chill, very low key and kinda trippy. A bit dark too. Like so much of Pink Floyd's stuff. This was much more upbeat and poppy, without being shallow, fluffy and soulless like most pop now. Sadly, pop like every other entertainment industry these days has stagnated and turned to generic, mediocre mush. That's a whole other story though... Wouldn't think of comparing it to the original, not in skeptical way at least. Sounds like a very bitchy SJW way of thinking. Again, another story lol..

I listened to both Pink Floyd and Scissor Sisters when I was younger and I never really associate these songs together. They may have the same lyrics but there's a completely different side to both of them. Yes it was a cover, of sorts, but they made it unique. Personally, yes, I prefer the original because I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, but I do like this one too :)
