  • Distilled on the Isle of Mull, ledaig is the heavily peated version of the more well known Tobermory. For those who like their peated whisky, this one has plenty of Islay goodness without the Islay price tag.

    I was humming and hawing about this one at $63 CDN a bottle. This review sealed the deal. Thanks gents!

    Good review lads. Ledaig 10 could easily be my favorite peated year after year. Enjoying a Ledaig 17 single cask strength now that is very impressive.
    Cheers 🥃

    I really agree with that mineral note also the citrus note on the nose. Great dram. Pretty strong, not for the faint of heart but once you get acquainted it’s a very enjoyable one.

    Te Bheag ! Funny sounding name, love the taste!
    Question for you gents! Is Sam still doing your video work?

    • @TheSingleMaltReview
      @TheSingleMaltReview  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No , we've been doing our own for years now. That's why it's so basic! However I hope to have a few projects started soon that Sam have a hand in the filmmaking of.

      @@TheSingleMaltReview Thanks for taking my odd-ball questions every now and then. If I may ask one more, which camera did you invest in most recently?

    • @TheSingleMaltReview
      @TheSingleMaltReview  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rd6425 The new camera is a 'DJI pocket 2' which in addition to being a proper HD camera, it should also let us get out on location much easier. So expect more of that in the future... hopefully.

    Glad you guys like it, if you see the Ledaig Sinclair series Rioja cask worth picking up as it has a great bacon (Frazzles crisps) quality price too.

    Thanks for the review guys. Ledaig 10 is one of my favourites and glad you like it. I agree with James….you should try the Ledaig Sinclair series Rioja cask. Lots of fruit and dark chocolate on the palate. It’s a NAS so cheaper than the 10 but packs a punch.

    was drinking Ledaig 10, Ardbeg 10 and Lagavulin 16 last night and came to a conclusion, Lagavulin is the full expression of a peated scotch but too light, Ardbeg is full, uncompromising and intense, Ledaig is a substitute teacher, its nice but obviously not an Islay peat profile

    What is the name of your tasting glasses which you are using?
    Ledaig 10 is a fantastic Dram and for me a little replacement for the way to expensive Springbank 10.
    Have you ever tried the Tobermory 18?

    • @TheSingleMaltReview
      @TheSingleMaltReview  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our glasses are Profi tasting glasses from Spiegelau. They're effectively a standard XL5 glass with a bit of fashion treatment from Spiegelau. We use them because Glencairn glasses are too short and the whisky is hard to see against the black table.

      As for Tobermory 18, I feel I've tried it at some long distant tasting, but have no particular memory of it.

      @@TheSingleMaltReview Thanks a lot. Yeah I often use the Spiegelau Premium Snifter. Cheers.

    . . and this is of course Islay peat, not Mull or inland.
    Wonder if there are peat bogs on the island.

    • @TheSingleMaltReview
      @TheSingleMaltReview  ปีที่แล้ว

      The exposed reaches of present day Mull might have been a little too elevated for historic peat bogs. Just a guess though!

    Absolutely agree with this one guys, certainly one of the best and most affordable whiskies in its category. However I'm not certain about the origin of their peated malted barley.
