- Correspondent Susan Spencer visits the Museum of Ice Cream in New York City to find out why a perfectly-shaped ball of ice cream is the best way to enjoy the treat, thanks to the invention of the ice cream scoop, dreamed up by African-American businessman and inventor Alfred Cralle back in 1897.

I'm 54 years old from Florence Oregon but I've been watching this show for 40 years since day one. I like the comments that people make but the thing is this is something I look forward to every Sunday
The music, which I believe is played by Wynton Marsalis, means Sunday morning to me. I always try to have the TV on at 8am so I can hear it. It makes me feel relaxed, like it’s Sunday, which of course, it is!!
@@sharonh2991 yeah over here on the West coast in Oregon it comes on at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday not much of a morning person but you know when it comes to that program I'm up at 7:00

So funny, I woke up in the middle of the night last night and ate an entire pint of chocolate Häagen-Dazs and then went back to sleep. Also, I live in NYC and I didn't know there was a Museum of Ice Cream here. I def must go check it out. 🍨
Is he I live in Oregon we don't get to museum of ice cream and you live there he didn't even know about it oh my God you're going to have fun talking about you sorry I use voice recognition technology and we have no restaurants here either to me any pizza restaurant in Oregon should be banned because Pizza is not with pizza is like in New York City I have to watch TV shows about real food anyway he has a great day

we used to have that kind of scoop all thru my childhood. I can't imagine how old it was when it fell apart. Some metal pieces gave up the ghost. Scooping hasn't been the same for years. We've bought all kinds & types, but nothing beats that old, perfect scooper. The scoop does matter!

Been watching that program my whole life and it's stories like that that makes that program different than all the crap you're going to listen to another news programs cuz you gives you a respite
Unfortunately, the San Francisco edition of the Museum of Ice Cream permanently closed after three years due to CoVID. New York, Austin, and Singapore are still open. Chicago will open in the summer of 2022.
Luckily for me, ice cream is a FOOD GROUP! 😋🍦

Me too at home. As a teenager I worked a soda/ice cream/sandwich & snack bar at a resort lodge and the scoops there never did break for some reason...maybe because they were professional scoops or something.
Ice cream...forever my favorite treat any time of year. I've favorite flavors beginning with chocolate then branching out. Thanks for sharing the neat history of the ice cream scoop...I love historical trivia!

I've had many favorites over the years like Maple Walnut, Black Raspberry, Pistachio, and Butter Pecan but I always cycle back to my all-time favorite, Vanilla.

Who needs a scoop? I just use a spoon, scrape ice cream out of the container, put it in my mouth, and repeat until it's all gone.
A million times I've stood at the kitchen counter eating ice cream right out of the container! It's my favorite treat any time of year. I'm addicted! Watching this video makes me want to eat ice cream!

I'm like Susan. I use a crowbar to dispense ice cream. It's the perfect tool. It also comes in handy if you're on a walk in your neighborhood and a large dog attacks you. One good BONK and that dog is out for a nap.

I am from Oregon and my father was a multi businessman and slash maintenance guy. He called the crowbar the persuader tell a little for real he's been gone for 18 years but he was a great man

Ice Cream should be: Cream, Milk, sugar and maybe egg...obviously in addition to whatever flavourings are needed.
It's a shame here in America most ice creams are full of chemicals and preservatives .
Even Breyers which used to be one of the purest and decently priced ice creams is not as pure as it used to be ... really a shame .
And then it's price really started to go up and that was way before covid .

@To Be Honest--- Jesus. Lighten up. Let people have fun in this cruel world. I'm sure this man is aware of many problems as we all are...but we have to let our lives find some good things too...and ice cream is something just about everybody can have as a fun reward anytime.
