IK its 5 years later but tbf, she only burned one city out of a hundred/thousands that there are in Westeros. Plus Kings Landing was The Wheel so it had to go
The problem was not that she died and that she went mad, it's how it happened. It was rushed and incomplete, Cersei and Dany conflict needed a season. So did the Night King. The writers were to eager to be done with GoT so they rushed everything and finished it early, so they can go work on their star wars.

This girl was a villian for a couple of minutes, her turn to the final antagonist was so forced because there was no point where you felt this women had abandoned her ideals (not properly), there was no turning point and you had no sympathy for her - all your attachment destroyed for a shock moment. That moment could of happened if there was a moment where Danarys sunk into madness where she just legit lost it.

Obviously its a shame this season was rushed, but really she never abandoned her ideals, even to the moment of the massacre, that's kind of the point about madness that martin always wanted to make I think. She was never really a queen of mercy, even if she thought she was.

And if you where to support a person like that in real life, you very well could be in the process of creating a dictator. History has proven this, it has happend time and time again. Dany is a warning in this, a lesson for people to take to heart. So don't ignore the fact if/when you got it wrong with Dany. Learn from it, and be gratefull for the amazing thought provoking character she is and how she helped you grow as a person by learning how NOT to follow people like her. Always ALWAYS pay attention to the methods (not only the end results), and a person's state of mind (not just how inspiring they sound when they say things that hit you right in the heart). When people start talking as if they are Justice, as if they have all the answers, regardless of what else they say, regardless of how beautifull and amazing such a person sounds, be warry of them. No good can come from any leader who thinks he/she is the answer to everything. No good can come from a leader who is willing and able to commit to horrible methods and acts (burning people, putting them crosses, and other ''symbolic'' deaths) regardless of who the victems are. It's not about if her victems deserved it. Making the world a better place is not about revange.
I could always see the underlying bouts of madness within her and always knew she wasn't as good as she thought she was, I only wish the writers gave her a chance to realise this herself before killing her
It's game of thrones. Everyone was mad for power and did crazy shit. I don't agree there was any indication that she had any special condition that made her actions uniquely crazier than those far crueller who were already in charge.
What a beautiful tribute! I loved the mashup of dialogue and scenery, they all fit so well together to tell your own version of the story. You chose such great lines that captured her ideology and mindset as she was doing terrible things without completely villianizing and dehumanizing her. She was exactly how I pictured her in the books. It's a shame she won't ever get to revive this character and do her proper. Especially with the health toll the filming had on her.
Best villain ever. Loved the transition. Would of been nice to have a whole season to focus on her turning mad but the directors did a disservice by cramming everything into one season.
The failure of season 8 was not Emilia Clarke's acting, it was not that Daenery's "deserved" a happy ending. It was in how she was written in the show from the start, which hugely impacted her character arch in the end. Because the show disregarded the inner struggles she has in the books and several of her bizarre experiences, as well as all the while building this lovable heroine arc. It all boils down to the rushed change in her in just a handful of episodes, when the tragedy of her story should have been apparent from the start.
Everyone saying she shouldn't have been queen and the signs were there, there wasn't nothing she was doing that everyone else wasn't doing. She trusted her council, freed slaves and did what the thought was right. She wasn't "mad." If that's the case Ceresi was crazy too. Imo the character was set up as a redemption arc for the Targaryen line. She was fully aware of the faults of her ancestors and was sold into slavery by her own family. Things that should have broken anyone else didn't break her. Her only fault was her naivety and trying to appease everyone. How does she sound any different than y'all favorite superheroes dishing out vigilante justice? Even Tyrion backed her before they yeeted this character off a cliff in the last season. Maybe she didn't deserve the Iron Throne but she deserved a fair shot. Not some sudden descent into madness and then death. If we ever get that last book I hope George can redeem her. Idk maybe her arc just hits different in the books but I didn't get a sense this is what George wanted.
Was never a big fan of Dany, thought her scenes were kinda boring compared to the rest, but it was still high above anything else I had ever seen on television, only rivaled by Breaking Bad, so when D&D ruined her too I still felt horrible, I can't imagine what her "super fans" must be feeling like...
Well..she is the reason why I've been watching this show,and to be completely honest she is literally the reason why I'm still alive :'D that must really sound stupid to you but I looked up to her a lot,she has been a symbol of hope for me But the pain changed her and drove her insane. People talk about her "turn", but she did exactly what she said she'd do. She's been talking about doing this for years, we just weren't really listening. Once we saw her do it to people we don't feel deserved it, we saw it for what it truly is, mass murder.

Can’t wait for the books to come out and Dany still have a sudden turn to madness. Then “fans” will hate George even though it was always intended. GoT has taught us that good isn’t always good and bad isn’t always bad. Good people do horrible things for themselves and for their destiny. It was her throne by right and with fire and blood she took it. Westeros ppl were not her people. They were her subjects and her subjects needed to fear her. I get the rushed feeling, but I’m not surprised by her outcome or her turn. It was only a matter of time for the one character with the massive army and death bringing dragon to become a monster.

i feel like daenerys (because of her speech in the last episode) is conqueror and queen, why? her evolution throughout the seasons remind me of aegon the conqueror (essos and then the 7 kingdoms) and when tyrion told jon : "she will free every cities until she became her queen" or something like that, i immediately thought "alexander the great" (he desired to be the king of a large and big country)... idk it’s maybe wrong but if it was their idea, it was cool 🤷🏽♀️

The failure of season 8 was not Emilia Clarke's acting, it was not that Daenery's "deserved" a happy ending. It was in how she was written in the show from the start, which hugely impacted her character arch in the end. Because the show disregarded the inner struggles she has in the books and several of her bizarre experiences, as well as all the while building this lovable heroine arc. It all boils down to the rushed change in her in just a handful of episodes, when the tragedy of her story should have been apparent from the start.

Everyone saying she shouldn't have been queen and the signs were there, there wasn't nothing she was doing that everyone else wasn't doing. She trusted her council, freed slaves and did what the thought was right. She wasn't "mad." If that's the case Ceresi was crazy too. Imo the character was set up as a redemption arc for the Targaryen line. She was fully aware of the faults of her ancestors and was sold into slavery by her own family. Things that should have broken anyone else didn't break her. Her only fault was her naivety and trying to appease everyone. How does she sound any different than y'all favorite superheroes dishing out vigilante justice? Even Tyrion backed her before they yeeted this character off a cliff in the last season. Maybe she didn't deserve the Iron Throne but she deserved a fair shot. Not some sudden descent into madness and then death. If we ever get that last book I hope George can redeem her. Idk maybe her arc just hits different in the books but I didn't get a sense this is what George wanted.

Was never a big fan of Dany, thought her scenes were kinda boring compared to the rest, but it was still high above anything else I had ever seen on television, only rivaled by Breaking Bad, so when D&D ruined her too I still felt horrible, I can't imagine what her "super fans" must be feeling like...
Well..she is the reason why I've been watching this show,and to be completely honest she is literally the reason why I'm still alive :'D that must really sound stupid to you but I looked up to her a lot,she has been a symbol of hope for me
But the pain changed her and drove her insane. She didn't deserve to be the mad queen and to see her die like that,like she was nothing..my heart can't accept this,I feel so awful. Not because she died,everyone has to die,just..the way it happened T.T

I think it's a good thing that the writing in this season is bad because even though I looove Dany I didn't cry when she died cuz it didn't feel real and I cried even for cersei , I'm still behind my theory that is not Dany it's a faceless assassin pretending to be her

Can’t wait for the books to come out and Dany still have a sudden turn to madness. Then “fans” will hate George even though it was always intended. GoT has taught us that good isn’t always good and bad isn’t always bad. Good people do horrible things for themselves and for their destiny. It was her throne by right and with fire and blood she took it. Westeros ppl were not her people. They were her subjects and her subjects needed to fear her. I get the rushed feeling, but I’m not surprised by her outcome or her turn. It was only a matter of time for the one character with the massive army and death bringing dragon to become a monster.

i feel like daenerys (because of her speech in the last episode) is conqueror and queen, why? her evolution throughout the seasons remind me of aegon the conqueror (essos and then the 7 kingdoms) and when tyrion told jon : "she will free every cities until she became her queen" or something like that, i immediately thought "alexander the great" (he desired to be the king of a large and big country)... idk it’s maybe wrong but if it was their idea, it was cool 🤷🏽♀️

My God these writers did her so dirty. I wasn't un-down for a mad queen, but give me more episodes to see her slip into madness instead of seeing her listen to a couple bells and go. She was never "the one true queen" in my opinion, but a girl with an unbreakable will who got sold on a dangerous dream. That dream killed thousands of people, and ultimately it killed her. This is the saddest a character arc has made me in years. RIP
But in the end she just saved Westeros...it's clear that without her and the dragons the Night King would have killed EVERYONE in Westeros
