I think that spat fire at the ceilling was a happy welcome from Vermithor since what Daemon was singing is the old song that Jaeherys used to sing. It's just nostalgic for Vermithor and his reaction of not getting agressive again after the fire is the prove over it.

She went infront of Vermithor with the knowledge that she had no chance of claim over him due to already having a dragon which could very well have ended badly for her. But to prove her point she stood confident and tall and called upon the bronze fury. even that little smirk she had when he calmed down and let her pet him. it was like "yeah ik I had it in me". Definitely could've claimed vermithor herself if she didn't have syrax.
When Rhae touched Vermithor his nostrils opened just like Drogon did with Jon Snow. Like Drogon, Vermithor was immediately soothed and closed his eyes purring like a kitten to his Targaryen Queen. The look Rhaenyra gave was that she was proud of him.

Not really. The way she portrays her character is good sure until you realise her wordage and vocabulary outside of acting is very similar. Not throwing shade I just think suits the roll well good job to whoever casted her

They took care of these dragons for at least a third of their lives, they know to steer clear when they are displeased or in a bad mood.Dragons are also as smart as us people, and have complex emotions, but they are ravenous.

It's aggravating that we never got to see Danny and her dragons in this location. Her calling them up when she goes to save Jon would have been awesome.

He actually already chose when he first laid his eyes on Hugh. That's him choosing and then decided to make everyone else a snack that is why he did not give warning of the flame burning hot on the grill. Hugh just needed to realise that he was selected when he stands up to him

His size, his stomps, his entrance, his roar! His coos! Her demeanor, her high Valariyan, her confidence, her commanding tone!! The look of fear and amazement they all had! Everything that made this scene incredible!!! 🐉🟤🔥
Emma Darcy is so damn good with her facial acting. I think probably one of the best in the world. They way they can convey emotions so effectively in this scene without saying a word is just pure beauty. After Rhaenyra got Vermithor to calm down you could see badass, evilness, confidence and a reminder to her that she is the true queen.
I was sold on their acting when i saw their last shot in the last episode of season 1. They really conveyed the pain of a mother losing her child, and the subsequent want for revenge. They did the right thing casting Emma D'arcy in this role
Emma shined in this season. Since the mourning of Luke´s death to the confrontation with Daemon, she knocked it out of the park with her facial expressions.
"So we're all gonna go down there in a big group, and one by one we're gonna try to bond with Vermithor until someone succeeds ." Uhm.... What happens to people he rejects? "Oh he'll burn the crap out of them. Everyone make sure to clump together!"
I know the Targaryen usually bonded with a dragon that they raised themselves, as it creates a stronger bond between the rider and the dragon. But this scene alone makes me think that Rhaenyra could have bonded with Vermithor if she didn't have Syrax as her dragon. I think she would have become a fearsome warrior if she did ride Vermithor.

She is almost full blooded Targaryen. They are much more likely to be accepted by dragons. Plus she has a ton of experience with dragons. Like a horseman can calm a wild horse because he understands them.
Rhynaera could have used a riderless Vermithor like Dany did with her dragons but the risk of Vermithor bonding with someone that doesn't serve her is too great. That's why its important that the rider serves Rhynaera, which is also why she got angry at Adam and seasmoke until she saw him bend the knee. Dany never had to worry about this because she was the only Targaryen left and bastards were extremely rare or had very diminished blood.
I still don't understand why Rhaenyra didn't try to find a rider for Silverwing first, as a calmer and friendlier dragon, and immediately released the bronze psychopath. lol
Priority. Vermithor is the largest dragon on Dragon stone and the 2nd biggest dragon behind Vhagar, so they wanted a rider for Vermithor because that would mean they would have a weapon against Vhagar right away. And then Silverwing would be next, after the claiming of Vermithor.

The blacks also seemed to preselect the candidates a bit too and send them to the dragon they thought might be the best match. Probably the greatest dragon scene we've ever seen in all of Game of Thrones. I haven't been massively impressed with season 2, but this episode was outstanding tv. The music, cgi, acting, all was impeccable.
Love the fact Vermithor immediately shows up when Rhaenyra calls for him. He could've just ignored her call and remained where he was and that would've made things incredibly awkward for her infront of all the dragonseeds.

I think Hugh actually took notes when Rhaenyra pacified Vermithor. He did almost the same thing, just without the High Valyrian; first called Vermithor's attention, then stood before him without showing fear, and when Vermithor did his intimidation display up close Hugh was not having it and basically told Vermithor "shut up and let me drive", which is close enough to "Serve".
She killed this scene love how she pronounces Thors name and her Valyrian sounds so on point, the moment she touched Thor and they both closed their eyes instantly connecting so dope

May I say that the way Vermithor's arrival on screen was handled is absolutely perfect. We hear the clattering of rocks, and hear his gutteral growls and noises, and then his huge shape just materializes out of the darkness. Love it. 👌

Emma Darcy is so damn good with her facial acting. I think probably one of the best in the world. They way they can convey emotions so effectively in this scene without saying a word is just pure beauty. After Rhaenyra got Vermithor to calm down you could see badass, evilness, confidence and a reminder to her that she is the true queen.

I know the Targaryen usually bonded with a dragon that they raised themselves, as it creates a stronger bond between the rider and the dragon.
But this scene alone makes me think that Rhaenyra could have bonded with Vermithor if she didn't have Syrax as her dragon.
I think she would have become a fearsome warrior if she did ride Vermithor.

She is almost full blooded Targaryen. They are much more likely to be accepted by dragons. Plus she has a ton of experience with dragons. Like a horseman can calm a wild horse because he understands them.

Rhynaera could have used a riderless Vermithor like Dany did with her dragons but the risk of Vermithor bonding with someone that doesn't serve her is too great. That's why its important that the rider serves Rhynaera, which is also why she got angry at Adam and seasmoke until she saw him bend the knee. Dany never had to worry about this because she was the only Targaryen left and bastards were extremely rare or had very diminished blood.
Wouldn't work, dany raised them like her kids since they hatched, Vermithor doesn't have the same bond.

I still don't understand why Rhaenyra didn't try to find a rider for Silverwing first, as a calmer and friendlier dragon, and immediately released the bronze psychopath. lol
Priority. Vermithor is the largest dragon on Dragon stone and the 2nd biggest dragon behind Vhagar, so they wanted a rider for Vermithor because that would mean they would have a weapon against Vhagar right away. And then Silverwing would be next, after the claiming of Vermithor.
The problem with that is Vermithor nearly killed Ulf, but Silverwing wouldn’t have killed Hugh. If Ulf hadn’t escaped she’d be stuck with only one

The blacks also seemed to preselect the candidates a bit too and send them to the dragon they thought might be the best match. No point sending Vermithor the timid washerwomen, but the stong, stoic blacksmith is worth a shot. Even a dwarf court jester made an attempt with Silverwing before Ulf

She first called him calmly then sensed Vermithor restless and sensed he needed firm and commanding presence hence the 2nd ‘calm down’ order. Rhaenyra got the dragons trust and attention after that. I love it.
I think Hugh actually took notes when Rhaenyra pacified Vermithor. He did almost the same thing, just without the High Valyrian; first called Vermithor's attention, then stood before him without showing fear, and when Vermithor did his intimidation display up close Hugh was not having it and basically told Vermithor "shut up and let me drive", which is close enough to "Serve".
