@@rashida7777 Yes, the natural Henna is wonderful, but on white hair it turns bright orange and not natural-looking also it is so much work to apply henna, to leave it on three hours and wash it out when I am 78 years old, it is just too hard for me. I did that from about 1973 to 2008. Then I gave up and bleached the Henna out. It looks absurd to have white hair growing out with white roots showing so I would have to keep doing it every two or three weeks. Henna definitely lasts a long time LOL. I came across some Burgundy henna so I thought I would try it out. Mind you, I'm used to semi-permanent chemical hair dyes that wash out in a month. Burgundy on dirty blond apparently equals orange and suddenly I became a carrot top.......and I'm staying a carrot top for months now as my natural color slowly grows in. Good thing I'm not too concerned about my looks. Actually, I love having unique and/or unusual hair colors but I'm kinda ready for this to be gone 😆
I have never colored my hair before, so I'm grateful for the tips. I know henna is a different ball game than your typical hair dye. My question is could I blend the medium brown with the light brown? My hairdresser said I'm actually between colors, so I'm afraid of medium turning out too dark and the light turning out too light. I'm about 1/4-1/3 grey, so I'm at a loss which way to go. Thank you!
Yes, you can do that. But, you should strand test to see what the end color will be on your hair before applying all over. Typically, we recommend using the lightest color of henna first, as henna cannot lighten hair. If you go darker than you are wanting, you can't apply a lighter henna to lighten it.
Hello i have natural black hair... it has never been dyed ever. I am noticing a gray hair in one spot and i am interested in using henna dye. Can i just do the roots of my hair or do i have to do my whole head see as how my hair has never been dyed?
I've been dying my hair with henna since I was thirteen (with my mum's help, who also dyes her hair regularly) and I have some tips cause henna does make the hair strands that were already loose fall out when you wash out the henna paste. Newbies, you don't have to panic! First tip: Add olive oil or any other natural oils like almond oil to the paste. Second tip: Add an egg to the mix as well. This stops it from dripping so much! Hello, We always recommend doing a strand test to help you to see the end result before applying all over. You can go back to chemical dyes whenever you want. You can email us at sales@thehennaguys.com for more help with picking a henna hair color
Would recommend starting off with light brown mixing with black brewed cofffe. It may come out little red with first application but another application will do the trick. You can always contact us via email sales@thehennaguys.com for more questions:)
Using henna past its "best by date" could result in a less pigmented color. Doing a patch/strand test will help you to determine if that henna is still good to use.
Nice video! I would like to ask you, I have dark brown curly hair with lots of stubborn white hair coming out and especially on my face edges. What color of henna I have to buy to preserve the dark brown tone? I have heard that henna destroys hair and makes it red. I don’t want reddish hair. Thank you
Hi, henna does not destroy hair. It can actually help your hairs' health. Yes, all henna hair dyes will have a red tint to them, this is because henna is red and the main ingredient. Starting with a lighter brown and seeing how that covers your gray hair is the best way to go. If you want to go darker you can, but keep in mind henna cannot lighten hair, only make it darker. You can email us at sales@thehennaguys.com for more help and information.
Yes, you can, but the base color of your hair will determine the end color. Keep in mind that henna cannot lighten hair, so if your hair is dyed black or a darker brown, it will likely not pick up much color from the henna.
Have you been using conventional hair dyes or even used hair products in the past? Henna will not make your hair fall out. Also how did you apply it and wash it?
Hello! You sure can! You can also try using beat juice, hibiscus tea, or rosehip tea as the liquid base in your mixture to bring out more reddish tones.

What a waste! This’s my first time using Henna anyway. In your point of view if I still used it, what color it would turn into? N how long the best time for lighter brown? Thank you so much …
Hello, the brown color does not need a long resting period. Leaving it out for that long will result in a lighter coloring with more red tones. With browns, you only want them to rest for 30-45 mins before applying.
Mam i have question I m using henna more than 10 month my question is can i use hair colour some time its meant i m not going to stop monthly one time its possible Can you p l s ansher me ❤❤❤❤
You don't need to apply oil if you don't want to. It's just a preference and helps to enhance henna. And we do not recommend washing with shampoo the first time. This come with detail instructions and you may rinse henna out with conditioner but need to let the color set it for 48 hours at least. After that you may use shampoo.
@@TheHennaGuys thank u so much for your reply I was desperately waiting for it . One more question regarding it that I have heard it from others like if u won’t apply oil on hair after applying henna it will make your hair dry so I wanted to know if it’s true or not.?
I know with chemical dyes you shouldn’t dye it any more than once every 6-8 weeks, but is there an amount of time you have to wait before you re apply it?
There is no specific time due to henna benefiting hair instead of damaging it. You can touch up your roots every 2 weeks. Henna dye is most vibrant for 4-6 weeks, but you can reapply as soon as you wish.
Hello! What happens if you use henna to cover grays and then just stop? Does your have just continue to go gray as if you never used it? Really debating if I want to try this. Thanks
Hi Sheree, Henna is a permanent hair dye but does fade over time, depending on how you take care of your hair. The color you do will cover the greys, but you will have grey hair grow out which will require you to have root touch-ups. Hope this helps!
We do not have a strawberry blonde, but most red hennas need the 8-10 hours for a dye release. This is recommended for pure hennas with no chemicals added. Natural dyes will take longer time. Mixing cassia with pure henna can give the strawberry blonde color. Email us at sales@thehennaguys.com for more help and advice.
Can you safely dye your lashes with henna? Or not possible? With every application of henna does the color get darker and darker each time from build up ?
Hi Jessica! Although henna is plant base hair dye, we do not recommend applying it to eyelashes. Henna does tend to get darker with each application but over time, it does fade depending on how you take care of your hair.
Yes and no. If you reapply henna within days of applying henna, it will make your hair darker. But, if you reapply every 4-6 weeks, you should get the same results as the first time. Henna will naturally fade some due to washing, styling and the elements, so when you reapply as a touch up it will only bring that faded hair back to life. You can also just do root touch ups which will only color roots.
Have you been using conventional hair dyes or even used hair products in the past? Henna will not make your hair fall out. Also how did you apply it and wash it? Henna strengthens and thickens your hair over time
I am keen to try henna but also terrified because of how difficult it would be to change if I don't like it. I guess I could test a small piece of my hair underneath?
Yes, we always recommend doing a strand test before applying all over. You can also try Cassia. Cassia has all the benefits of henna without the coloring, and it is not permanent like henna is.
I guess I’m not leaving it on long enough I’m trying to cover gray hair and it comes out brassy red almost fluorescent! Does anyone else loose a lot of hair when you rinse this out?
if I want light brown and I only have dark brown henna, can I shorten the application time from 4 to 2 hours and that way get a lighter color? Is that doable??
@The Henna Guys my question was if I put a darker hena on my hair and if I don't keep it that long (instead 4h I'll leave it 1h) maybe it won't darken my hair that much. so that way wouldn't darkened my hair as it would if l leave it on the regular 4h time
It would help if your instructions matched the instructions on the henna package. For instance, you just said the henna will absolutely stain your skin yet the back of the package says it won’t. As well, the package says to mix the henna and immediately apply it to your hair, but you just hinted that reds needed to be mixed and left to sit. Now I have to go watch 100 more videos to find the info that I need. Thanks.
I’ve heard that henna tends to turn red no matter what color of dye you use, is that true? I’m currently blonde, thinking about going light brown, but I would like to avoid any major red tones if possible.
There can be red under tones because henna is red, but it is the other natural ingredients added to the mixture that will give it the brown color. Doing a strand test will help you to see if you will have more red undertones or less. You can also use black brewed tea or coffee to help with the red undertones.
I want my hair jet black (currently it’s black with some gray strands) can you suggest a henna color to buy? Pure henna is green, will it turn black? Help
Alma and cassia will be more cool yellow, indigo is dark blue. Hibiscus will tone more red. Indigo + henna = black or dark cool brown Henna + cassia/alma = ashy brown
My hair is very dark brown, but I have some gray/white in the front. I want to try henna, but not sure how to make it darker to match my natural color or if it will cover my grays. Any recommendations?
Hello! We do have a dark brown henna hair dye that would work well! I'll link it below. Our hair dye does cover grays though they can be stubborn, and it might take a second application for the henna to grab onto your hair. I recommend adding 2-3 teaspoons of ACV to the mixture to help fight those grays. www.thehennaguys.com/products/dark-brown-henna?_pos=1&_sid=ef9245a52&_ss=r
you say it lasts a couple months. Then do you redo the entire process? because you also said after that you only do the roots. Also, when you say you might have to do 2-3 applications, are you referring to the entire 6 hour process or just the second part where color is added to the henna.
Henna is a permanent hair dye so all over wont be needed but your roots will. As they grow out and show the color difference. 2-3 applications is referred to if you are new to henna and the color came our lighter then to your liking. Hope this helps:)
You don't add color to henna. It starts green but as you let it sit in the bowl and the dye releases, it then becomes a brown color. But every time you use henna for color, you will have to redo the whole process. The only difference would be if you are only doing a root touch up, you might mix up less henna. But the dye release time and the time it takes to color your hair once applied will not change. One exception: leftover prepared henna can almost always be frozen and saved to use later. (Some herbs that people add for other results can keep it from freezing well). If you have frozen prepared henna, you simply need to thaw and apply.
Can you put henna on top of highlights what would happen ? And if not possible then how can you create highlights using henna like a a golden brown? Should we add lemon juice to the mix 🤷🏼♀️
Hi Jessica! Do check out the videos that we did strand tests on. We have a hair strand with highlights, and you can see the difference after the henna application. You may see the part with highlights a little lighter than the other colors. As for creating highlights, this will depend on what color you are currently trying to cover. You can email us at sales@thehennaguys.com for more detail:)
I think your sentence is a bit confusing when you said with hena dye you can go from light to dark but never dark from light...well, isnt it that you go from light to dark? Therefore its not a "never" statement to say but "never dark from light" because "from" is where it originates which is "light" shade then goes to dark... so your logic was confusing when you said "but never dark FROM light"... You should have said but never "dark to light"... Just clarifying..i was confused by your statement.

@@TheHennaGuys oh thank you, I never knew that about Cassia.
I guess I’m not leaving it on long enough I’m trying to cover gray hair and it comes out brassy red almost fluorescent! Does anyone else loose a lot of hair when you rinse this out?
Gray hair can be stubborn to cover, and you could need more than one application for full coverage. Hair fall is an unusual issue to have.
if I want light brown and I only have dark brown henna, can I shorten the application time from 4 to 2 hours and that way get a lighter color? Is that doable??
Unfortunately, henna can not lighten your already dark color hair. You can go light to dark but never dark to light with henna
@The Henna Guys my question was if I put a darker hena on my hair and if I don't keep it that long (instead 4h I'll leave it 1h) maybe it won't darken my hair that much. so that way wouldn't darkened my hair as it would if l leave it on the regular 4h time
@@ParisMadridLondon That is what I was wondering too.

Where can I buy a good henna please my dear
You can buy on our website thehennaguys.com
It would help if your instructions matched the instructions on the henna package. For instance, you just said the henna will absolutely stain your skin yet the back of the package says it won’t. As well, the package says to mix the henna and immediately apply it to your hair, but you just hinted that reds needed to be mixed and left to sit. Now I have to go watch 100 more videos to find the info that I need. Thanks.
Hello, please follow the instructions inside the pack. Our henna hair dyes do indicate you should do a stand/patch test on hair and skin.
Indigo + henna = black or dark cool brown
Henna + cassia/alma = ashy brown
2-3 applications
of what. Of just the brown or the henna and brown - the whole 6 hour process?
You don't add color to henna. It starts green but as you let it sit in the bowl and the dye releases, it then becomes a brown color. But every time you use henna for color, you will have to redo the whole process. The only difference would be if you are only doing a root touch up, you might mix up less henna. But the dye release time and the time it takes to color your hair once applied will not change. One exception: leftover prepared henna can almost always be frozen and saved to use later. (Some herbs that people add for other results can keep it from freezing well). If you have frozen prepared henna, you simply need to thaw and apply.
For jet black, how long should the Henna stay on before I wash it off? Also, can I use coffee instead of water?
You need to leave henna on your hair for 3 hours and yes you made use coffee. Coffee helps achieve darker tones.
I just did Hanna hair color after 3 months
Can you put henna on top of highlights what would happen ? And if not possible then how can you create highlights using henna like a a golden brown? Should we add lemon juice to the mix 🤷🏼♀️
Hi Jessica! Do check out the videos that we did strand tests on. We have a hair strand with highlights, and you can see the difference after the henna application. You may see the part with highlights a little lighter than the other colors. As for creating highlights, this will depend on what color you are currently trying to cover. You can email us at sales@thehennaguys.com for more detail:)
I kept it on about an hour; but maybe it was too long bc it gave me a headache. Other than that no other reaction.
Was it indigo powder or pure henna? You may be a little allergic to the plant. Did you do a patch test before?
@@TheHennaGuys it was the organic rajasthani Indian henna
Why do people say henna is permanent and lasts a long time if it only lasts 4-6weeks?
Henna is permanent, but can start to fade around 4-6 weeks.
Oh that’s your crickets. I thought it was because it is still too early in the season for them. Lol
lol, this video was posted in 2021 Sept. So yes crickets start coming in.
Sorry for the confusion. Henna can only make your hair darker; it cannot make it lighter. That's what was being stated in the video.
@@TheHennaGuys got it..thanks for clarifying
Aint nothing confusing about that, you just plain foolish
@@therealsteaklife70 a person clarifying a statement is not stupid. Its actually correcting a wrong statement. You just have a stupid judgment perhaps!

Save some hair from your hairbrush and use the henna on that first, it's permanent and a big commitment
This is a good way to strand test when doing a new hair dye!
Coconut oil is a far better recommendation than nasty ole Vaseline. It's made from petroleum. The same petroleum they use in the automotive industry
We do love the use of coconut oil, thanks for suggesting that!
That's about as useful as an argument as suggesting that arsenic or cyanide is a better recommendation than sarin, or mustard gas... Because supposed to be "natural" 😂
Meanwhile... Botox can be classified as "natural", but it's also way, way, waaaay more deadly than synthetic herbicide
@@mxbunnycatter Get a grip and stop this nonsense. She told you exactly what it is - a plant. Not man made.
Can mix different colors together when applying?
oil runs vaseline doesnt
Ironically, saying it's "chemical free" is kind of a contradiction... As it's still pretty much a chemical reaction that causes the dye.
The sole difference is that it's a largely safe/likely non-toxic way to dye your hair) skin with.
But that's just the science-nerd in men speaking for itself
Henna is natural/vegan made by nature - conventional dyes contain chemicals that are made by humans.
WHAT IS THAT NOISE IN THE BACKGROUND?!?!???!!!
Crickets. We are located in the Midwest and usually around July they get nosier. Their chirp penetrates the walls of our warehouse.
After I use henna can I dying my hair ?
Yes, you can dye your hair after using henna. You should strand test before applying the new dye all over. This will help you see the end result.
