Unusually Big SWELLS and ANGRY WAVES at Manasquan Inlet

  • Heavy winds and off shore storms brought in some unusually big swells for the Manasquan inlet (it's not always like this.)
    As you watch towards the end, you'll see boats battling big waves and swells as the sun sets -- we even included some night vision shots!
    Hope you enjoy!

    Watching from North Jersey but growing up my family kept our boat on the Metedeconk river so seeing the Point Pleasant canal and Manasquan inlet brings back a lot of great memories. That said, I was super excited when I recently found your channel. Keep up the great work!

    I have been saying for years that most boats are more competent than the operators. This shows what you get with a good skippers.

    Great video 📹 👍 sir. Those rollers are really something 😍. I was very impressed with all the captains as they navigated through those swells & also the blender. Excellent content 👌 👏 👍. TMP from N.J ❤.

    Notice the difference in operators between an inlet like this and Haulover in Miami. Miami has a lot of pleasure boaters with less experience. These guys are more educated boaters and understand proper operation of their vessels in these conditions. We are seeing fisherman vs day sailors here. This is a great example of proper seamanship. Notice how they watch the following sea to make sure they are not overtaken. To be fair to the Haulover crew, that inlet can get some dirty water that can be very tricky to navigate. Wave style etc matter also.

    Takes some sand to enter that inlet at night with swells that size. Confident captains

    Unlike the buffoonery at Haulover inlet in Florida, these guys know how to handle a boat. Bow high going out and not too slow. Keeping it behind the swell with the following sea. Good stuff.

    • @boblister665
      @boblister665 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking the same thing while watching this. In Fl. they only know wide open with no thought of seamanship. Good boat handling shown here.

    What day did you shoot this? I'm amazed at all the traffic this time of year. You know, the big difference between Manasquan and Haulover is that our NJ boaters have a lot more sense. Of course, they are solid working class and are smart about the water. No bow-stuffing or showboating here. Totally different vibe.
    I was at the inlet last Friday. I'll look for you in the weeks ahead. Will you be out all year?

      Thanks for watching, Joe! This was shot 2 weeks ago I believe. Yes, still a surprising amount of boat traffic out there.
      I still try to get there during this weather so ill be out there!

      I agree 100%. What a difference between NJ boaters and Haulover boaters. Maybe it is the respect of the cold water and not wanting to get wet on a 40 degree December day.

    Good to see real seamanship after a few videos of big Miami party boats with complete marine morons on board. Some *excellent* small boat skippers in your video. Stationed at Fort Monmouth in the 60's so no boat ownership for me in those days. All my sailing is in California on sailboats from 21-42'.
