BARCRUSHER heading home in ROUGH SEAS!

  • The plan was to head out wide and give the skirted lures a swim for a Marlin, but the seas had other ideas!
    So we batten down the hatches and slow the boat down as we punch 20km home to safety in sloppy seas. The boat does it easily and is now much easier to control in super rough water thanks to the new 4 blade Solas propeller.
    We take on water and will show you exactly how much.

    Really appreciated the fact you put out a video showing it’s not always a good idea to just stay out in poor conditions. As a skipper we’re responsible for our mates and our boats, disappointing to call it but sometimes you just plain have to. Great video

      Yeah thanks man, that's what I thought also. Too many lives are lost by people taking chances when they know they probably shouldn't be there.

      No worries, yeah it was basically horrible. We felt safe and secure, had to hold our nerve of course.

    This film shows something boat advertisers don't like to show. All they show is flat calm, babe in bikini, "the good life"--and that is irresponsible. IF they are selling a great boat--and they are, sometimes, they still avoid showing you reality. THIS is more like it--it isn't always so nice out there.

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey man that's right. Infact it's like this way more often than people think. I.e may start off calm but often ends up nasty.

    Tired of seeing manufacturers marketing their boats based on calm waters. These are the type of conditions Barcrusher should advertise. Videos never show the conditions to their full extent, this would have been on shit ride back. Good to see the Barcrusher handled it well.

    • @BaitBallin

      Yeah totally agree mate, I basically can't even handle reading or watching boat reviews anymore. All on miracle calm days and never tell the truth warts and all of the boats

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man, who knows what I might buy next ; ) yeah in slow heavy seas almost always used the trim tabs. Just to keep the boat more controlled. Only exception was at speed in following sea

      Yeah it's funny the camera never truly shows how rough it is hey! Yeah I've made some bad calls in the past risking it. 50km plus offshore and shocking weather. Now I don't risk it so much

    It’s really difficult to capture the size of the sea on a camera, tried many times without much luck. We can see small whitecaps so the chop is breaking … what size would you estimate 1.5m ? We can’t appreciate any swell rolling through

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's funny some times it's rough without white caps. Yeah a nice 1.5m chop with a 2m or so swell. It wasnt huge, just very very sloppy with no consistency, and powerful swell....

  • @davidturner3188
    @davidturner3188 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It just shows why you wouldn't want to be in one of those hardtops where it stops short of the driver/passenger seat. They would take on so much water. The 670 has a good hardtop design.

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes totally!!!! The short HARDTOPS are junk. Not sure why people buy them....

      Can you explain in laymans terms? Thanks

    • @davidturner3188
      @davidturner3188 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NpgSymboL You will find viewing other boats the side glass window/hardtop stops ahead or along side the drivers seat. In conditions of strong wind or sloppy wind spray conditions the driver is exposed to these elements. The 670HT and larger boats have the hardtop finishing behind the drivers seat. This provides full protection.

    I wouldn't have gone out on that day. A trip to the shelf in those conditions in your boat IS dangerous. It might be ok but if your motor failed and you were side onto the slop 30kms off shore for hours I wonder...
    Self draining decks can shift catastrophic water ingress from the boat via its scuppers very quickly, where as a bilge pump is only as good as its pump. If the conditions are serious having the boat partially submerged awaiting the bilge pump to catch up can mean capsize game over. Also the captured air pocket in a self draining deck ie below the deck keeps the boat buoyant after flooding, allowing water to flow out of the boat via the scuppers. The air pocket below deck is the safety element to a self draining deck that a bilge pump setup can never provide. Just saying.

    • @BaitBallin
      @BaitBallin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I can see how a draining deck could definitely be a big advantage if you do lose power, or are unable to control your boat etc.
      Forecast wasn't supposed to be bad and the camera never quite shows how rough it really is / was.

      @@johnboy5167 Good to hear someone with a PLAN. Many have never thought to that point. A few years back, I heard a grown man SCREAMING into the radio mic--out of his mind, then a casual voice came back "drop your anchor", but it seems he either did not have one, or know where it was. A Coast Guard cutter--luckily was just behind him, who came up to his rail, lashed him on, and brought him on in, I too have a small back-up engine, the issue for me is to start it, each time before I head out, so that I know it most likely will start. You are a step ahead of me, with a button on the dash, I need to go to the stern and hand crank, still effective though in keeping her to the swell. Good boating.

    If barcrusher made a 7.5m I’d be very interested.. but unfortunately they’re just a bit small for this kind of weather. Also you need a better camera man - spent 5 minutes filming the drivers face and then the rest of the video thru a wet window you couldn’t see anything out of..
