@@tottenhamhotspurish Except that Lee is a lovely person off stage. A friend of mine worked with NW years ago and apparently he was absolutely horrible to everyone 'below' him. The antithesis of his 'public' persona.

I grew up watching Norman with my mum and dad when a film of his would pop up now and again. I instantly warmed to him.
Hopefully he was just having a bad day, but as the saying goes: “Never meet your heroes for they are sure to disappoint you”.

Modern society is killing humour - glad I got to see Lee live several times before he retired. Laughed so hard it hurt 🤣 Although it wasn't that long ago it feels like a different era! They'd be queuing up to cancel him these days saying he'd offended the world or something 😒

I think he retired because he realised the state of society and how cancel culture has destroyed comedy. He’s old school and probably wasn’t prepared to pander to the 0.001% who are funded by all their mega corporations but still call themselves “oppressed”
