    Billy Martin was a unbelievable manager we all remember the Yankees firing him all the time thats just the circus environment of New York.
    Billys greatness was turning teams like Texas, Detroit & Minnesota around & of course his genius was the “Billy Ball” days in Oakland. That may have been the greatest manager job I’ve seen.

    Billy was the proverbial WS ''money player'' !! He always excelled during WS play & there were plenty on NYY Championships.

    Billy Martin loved Thurman Munson like a son you know it tore him up when Thurman died.

      Yeah, and with all that he tried to fight him in May of 1978 on a flight from KC to Chicago. That was the thing with Billy; if he felt someone was challenging him or his manhood, especially when he had been drinking, he would’ve even fought his best friend.

      @@dzanierBilly lived life on the edge and cared so much about winning and honor. They don't make em like The Little Dago anymore!

      @@VenomousStare No they don’t, but it’s somewhat sad that so many of his supporters kind of gloss over all of his flaws, of which there were many.

    Henry Hecht’s dislike for Billy was always personal. Not that Billy didn’t deserve criticism, but he wasn’t impartial towards Billy. Conversely, Reggie could never do any wrong.

      Back then Martin was the biggest asshole in sports

      Reggie did plenty wrong we saw him anyone with a baseball mind knew it. Like when he dogged it at Fenway & when he bunted with 2 strikes.

      @@patrickgray5633 I agree, but the writers generally gave him a pass. And Hecht was absolutely star struck by and swooning over Reggie. Hecht was a hatchet man, many Yankees didn’t like him.

      @dzanier I couldn't stand Reggie I thought he was like Ali a showman but very cocky & arrogant & would do things so wrong like Fenway dogging it in & letting Rice get to 2nd base & worse later Billy called for Reggie to bunt first 2 pitches he failed Billy took it off & Reggie then bunted foul for strike out. He disobeyed what Billy wanted him to do. Billy was the manager & I have no respect for Reggie as far as the way he went about things.

    WHERE IS FOOTAGE OF BILLY MARTIN ACTUALLY SAYING THE QUOTE "One's a born liar and the other is convicted"? News articles say that he said it to reporters, but I can't find a clip of it anywhere!!

    • @ValCronin
      @ValCronin 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      After watching, it seems that he did not say it on camera at all; he only said it to newspaper reporters who printed it in the newspaper.

      That quote was said at an airport while he was hammered to newspaper men.

    I wouldn't trust a word out of Reggie Jacksons' mouth.
