    Hey the semi sharpened bottom/top edges are for cutting back out of anything you puncher with the blade,
    So the tomahawk doesn't get stuck.

    i love my Chogan too, i use it since one year.
    You dont talk about the tickness, it s degressive to the head from the end of the handle. 6mm to 4 mm!
    it's fantastic for a industrial hawk, mainly at 120 dollars!

    Great review Aaron! I have been debating now for a little over a month about getting a tomahawk, and it def would be from CRKT. With that being said I was going to get the Kangee but after seeing this I better think a little more about it... Cheers man

    Great for digging, and for opening up rotted logs to get to the juicy wood grubs inside 😉

    It is a really niece piece, no doubt but it's expensive if you're using it infrequently. My t-hawk use is limited. I've got the CRKT Woods Chogan model with the traditional wooden tomahawk handle and I love it. It's a heavier, more durable comparison to the Cold Steel Trail Hawk. Carries a great edge and a hammer pole just like this model but it was also about $40! So if you really only need a woods / camping tool I'd strongly consider the more traditional wooden handle option. Now if you are bashing zombie heads regularly maybe this version with full tang and removable scales is more important so you can wash of zombie brain goo.

    • @brianmccann666
      @brianmccann666 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The woods Chogan is more like the cold steel Pipe Hawk or Rifleman's Hawk in purpose rather than the small & light trail hawk.

    • @davidmeyer6908
      @davidmeyer6908 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Woods Chogan is a nice piece. No nonsense, no gimmicks, just business. It's my favorite woods tool behind my old double bit felling axes.

    I would not hesitate to spend the money for that or even the other more traditional tomahawks that CRKT has produced. It's not everyday I can spend that much, but compared to other choices, the price and quality is fair. CRKT has budget knives, but I have never bought a junk knife from them. Personally I like the Kangee models, but any of them would be great to own.

    The only other full tang axe similar to this that matches it in performance and versatility is the condor thorax, but I do like these crkt's more. I got the kangee and after trying it out in the woods immediately wished I had gotten the chogon. Thanks for the vid.

    • @lostintransit3359
      @lostintransit3359 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, gotta say I laughed when I saw this comment. Unless you plan on punching that spike through some body armor or breaching structures/vehicles, NEVER go with the tactical spike. Lmao. Anyone with experience in woodworking, bushcraft, or woodland survival will tell you the same thing.
      Now that's not saying it wouldn't come in handy for something out in the woods, but the necessity for a combat purpose spike is fairly limited outside of breaching or penetrating armor. The two best options are the Woods Chogan or the NoBo. The only difference being that the Woods Chogan has a hefty hammer pommel, the NoBo has a wrapped design without a hammer pommel leaving it curved and smooth. I personally bought the Woods Chogan myself and haven't bothered to look for any form of replacement. It's the best option for the price and purpose of wood processing. Makes a great fighting hawk as well, paired with either my belt knife or brush chopper.

    Just got one of these today and it broke within the first minute of use. A chunk broke off the top of the bit while cutting through a 1.5" thick mesquite branch. Looking at the Amazon reviews, this is very common and hasn't been fixed by CRKT in several years. Looks like CRKT doesn't really care much about quality or their reputation.

    A hundred bucks for SK5, GRN handles and a cheap plastic sheath?
    Too much.
    I'm really not a fan of CRKT's cheap plastic sheaths. I bought an Obake a while ago. Love the design, but that sheath is just embarrassing. You can buy a Mora for ten bucks with a better plastic sheath. For the prices that CRKT ask, their sheaths should be actual kydex. Most American manufacturers are doing this. Cold Steel with their lousy "Secure-ex" nonsense and Esee with their low grade plastic sheaths. They really are getting too greedy and selling us trash dressed as quality.
    Of course, the moment you bring this up they all say "We can make better sheaths, but then the price will go up." No, the price shouldn't go up. You're just being greedy by trying to make huge profits selling cheap crap to your customers.
