I use this product on all of my leather shoes and have done for years,it's great because you can polish the shoe to a shine too

Nikwax is water-based so you can apply when the boots are wet, which makes it very convenient. But if you are using a beeswax-based (Grangers G-Wax, Meindl Sportwax) or oil-based (dubbin or mink oil) proofer you need to dry the boots completely.

Good advice, looks like a nice product easy to use, Thanks. I've always used mink oil or bear grease with beeswax, but its a bit messy.

Great review. Use household paper instead of newspaper to absorb moisture, because the ink could block GoreTex layers.

If you were buying new boots now, would you buy the Grisport Saracen boots again ?
I am about to buy my first pair of leather boots for many mamny years and was told about Grisport, a brand I had never heard of before. they get decent reviews. the Grisport HQ is very near where I live and I visited there a few days ago, thinking there was a shop there too. Sadly not, but 2 very helpful members of staff let me try on a few pairs to see which size would be best.
I tried the peaklander, but after doing a bit more rresearch decided up .. either the Avenger boot which has a sympatex lining or the Quatro boot, which look more comfortable although they have the inferior Spotex lining.

Hi Brian I would have no hesitation in buying them again definitely a really good quality boot I had little to no bother with. They seem to be a brand that punches well above its weight in terms of value for money hard wearing, comfortable, waterproof and breathable. I have always wore scarpa myself they seem to fit my feet well but so do the grisport. I would say whatever model of the gri you go for you will not be disappointed. PS I still have this pair and still work

On my personal experience if the boots are well maintained over there lifespan as best you can it obviously makes using this stuff better. But if you have you boots well clean and prepared for this wax and it's applied properly this stuff works a treat. I am still using these boots but are coming towards the end of there journey now but I ca safely say they are still very much waterproof. Hope this helps

It's better to regularly waterproof your boots every now and then rather than waiting on them to leak. You can tell easily by looking at the leather as it will stop beading the water effectively and will start to slightly soak in.

Dubin
Dubin is great stuff brilliant waterproofer unfortunately people can use it wrong as it has no leather conditioner and over time leather will crack if only using dubin while alot of the waterproofers now today take in this consideration but in saying that hard to beat a good quality dubin great stuff .
