      Duncan Ferguson has to be one of the only players in PL history where you’d prefer him to score because that could take some of his anger and viciousness away. Like you wouldn’t like to be 1-0 down vs Everton but an angry Duncan Ferguson could end your career on or off the pitch. You could play brilliantly against him and be dominant in the game but as soon as you went off the pitch, he’d try to knock your head off your shoulders.

    There's a distinction between 'Hard' and 'Dirty'. Costa ain't hard, just dirty. Hard men can take it as well as dish it out. You never see a real hard man play act. They even try to hide it when they really are hurt. Like when Pearce broke his leg and walked off the pitch. No rolling on the ground, no crying, no stretcher....WALKED off the pitch....With a broken leg.

    • @cockoffgewgle4993
      @cockoffgewgle4993 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's just a cultural difference. Costa had many scraps with Ramos and Pepe in Madrid derbies. Diving and playacting doesn't make you not hard, it just makes you smart. Defenders were scared of Costa. He was a big strong guy who was constantly throwing arms and elbows and squaring up to people.
      It's all relative to the times and what was allowed at that time. But there's also a reason there isn't many strikers on this list.

    • @3rdworldgwaming467
      @3rdworldgwaming467 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting. I get the point ur trying to make but it's still ur personal perspective on the topic of ''hard man'' persona specifically pertaining to ur distinction between hard & dirty in ur comment. Im not saying ur wrong.....im saying it's arguable, for example lets take a player like the Portuguese centre-back Pepe...I consider Pepe a hard & dirty player. Ur distinction between "hard" & "dirty" implies that a hard man type player has to have virtue and not resort to dirty antics on the field, which I respectfully disagree with.

    Vidic was a hard man not because of the tackles. He walked into fergies office and told him hed be enlisting if Serbia went to war, he broke his nose and reset it pitchside, his last game for United he ended covered in blood. 4th on this list of say is about right.

      Makes it even more impressive what Torres did to him. Don’t get me wrong, United dominated most times they played, but when Torres had his way, he made it clear Vidic wasn’t getting close to him. And then you have Messi but that’s mainly what Messi did to the entire United team. Every time Messi picked up the ball, Rio and Vidic both looked as if they’d made the biggest mistake of their lives, not closing him down on the edge of the box and when they tried to, Messi just put the ball in the net. Best team in England for years and Barcelona absolutely dominates them. If they didn’t play Tiki-Taka, Barcelona would’ve scored 7.

No slip = Liverpool win the league in 2014, Rodgers wouldn't have got the sack in 2015 and Liverpool would have missed out on Klopp and there would have been no trophy laden ultra exciting Klopp era. Klopp literally won everything.
      Now THAT is the truly funny part. 😂

      @@lyndoncmp5751 I agree it was hilarious, so I don't get why you got upset in your initial post, its a moment to cherish, and if Liverpool fans are as thick as you and consider that a good thing, be my guest, enjoy the moment with the rest of us

    Johnny Giles. Hardest man ever, harder than Hunter! What does Pablo Zabeletta's reserve/standby know about anything? Micah Richards is a BBC commentator for one reason and it's not for his knowledge or skills.

      Giles was a great player but took no nonsense ever, very astute observer of football and a great manager and pundit after his playing career, if you want o hear check out some of his Offthe Ball talks about various best 11s from top clubs, give great insight on players of his generation and since.

    As an Evertonian I would rather have played against Duncan than Graeme Sharp. Duncan only ever finished an argument never started one. Sharp was hard as nails and had a real nasty streak. Tim Cahill was hard too. Only small constantly flattened ; never complained and gave as good as he got. Hard in a different way.

    • @revelation3679
      @revelation3679 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, to be fair, the ability to finish arguments is a much better barometer of hardness than the ability to start them..

      @Revelation once seen Sharp going for a header with Molby. Sharp elbowed him twice in one challenge. Molly was like Jelly and had to go off. Ferguson would have waited for Molby to foul him then get himself sent off for retaliation. As I said I'd have rather played against Ferguson than Sharp.

    There should be a distinction between dirty players and hard players. EG. Julian Dicks and Roy Keane were dirty players whereas Dave Mackay and Mick Harford were hard players.

    Big Duncan is considered by most of player from 2000's as the hardman. He let defenders scared on the pinch.
