- David Ellefson has responded to his firing from Megadeth and revealed he plans to take action against those who published unauthorized videos of him online. Megadeth announced last week that Dave Ellefson was out of the band.

Well....Ellefson did try to sue Mustaine early 2000's Mustaine did give him a second chance. This was the last straw for Mustaine. I don't blame him, this was very foolish of Ellefson. Sucks that it happened but respect Mustaine's decision.

My statement if I was Dave Mustaine: "Megadeth stands with Dave Ellefson. What he did regarding this matter was in his own time, privately, between 2 consenting adults. He did nothing illegal. This is just an attempt to tarnish the image of our brother and therefore our band. Dave Ellefson has been an integral part of Megadeth since its very beginning. He's a professional, talented and caring indivudual that's been by my side in some of my darkest moments. Megadeth looks forward to making more music and live shows with Dave Ellefson. I'm not sure if it was weird, but you are right about being a victim and the firing. There's a lot of comments about the other woman being as old as his daughter, but I was unable to find any information on t he age of the woman.
This is true. However... he did it online with someone young enough to be his daughter which, though not illegal, will be considered as somewhat unsavoury by some, notably his family and social circle. Also, you have to be at a certain level of stupid to be a household name and then proceed to knock one out with a teenage complete stranger online and not expect the brown stuff to hit the fan at some point. Not many 'businesses' will want to be associated with that. Plus... Mr. Ellefson et al are pushing the Jesus button these days and claiming to be good, God-fearing christian boys. I don't see Dirty Dave being able to deliver another sermon at church anytime soon. Which brings me to another point... if they're all christians then why doesn't Dave M forgive Dave E., and Dave E. forgive the person that uploaded the vid, then everyone can move on? I think Mustaine made the wrong choice here. If this girl wasn't underage, then no wrong was done. Killing a 40 year legacy for a jerk session. Seems pointless to me. Glad I got to see Dave E. on the MegaCruise, I actually got to see Megadeth play with Ellefson and without Mustaine lol.
This ain't 100% about Dave wanting to get rid of him, but we live in an era were you can't let the SJW jump on you, saddly they can f*ck you over. This wouldn't have blown up as much as it did if the idiot or idiots that posted the videos didn't lie saying the girl was underage. Once it was proven she was an adult, they were like "uum ok, but we still want his head off" and complained about the age gap between ADULTS. Apparently there was like more tension than we know, in the Megadeth instagram post there is a line where it says, “with a already strained relationship”. So this event must have been the final straw. Then again I’m just assuming, none of us actually know
@@KogekiZa It is known that they weren't as good friends since the 2002 lawsuit, remember Ellefson was out of megadeth for 8 years or so (2002 to 2010).
@@KogekiZa Naw I read the same story between the lines, Junior didn’t get let go because of this situation. It was just a good enough and convenient reason for Megadave to save on paying his salary. Junior has been very diplomatic so he’s obviously not burning that bridge but I’m gonna say it, it was because Mustaine can get a young and hungry guy to play for less money.

Yep, Dave really showing himself. And as usual, puts him down right after they fired him. But then again he does that with everyone who has left the band. I was 100% megadeth fan back in the day but in my opinion, has sucked for a long time. Again, just my opinion, but he was always putting his band second to his own ego and failed dream of being Metallica. He doesn't present himself as a likable guy, and idk what happened to their music but just sounds like a heap of garbage slapped down in a day (lyrics too) or maybe I'm just old now lol.

That’s exactly what I’d say! I don’t feel any kind of disgust about Ellefson’s sexual scandal (I’m just disappointed), but Mustaine’s actions literally turn me away from the band. So sad to be reminded that Mustaine is too cruel and too arrogant even for his closest band mate.

I would agree but it could just be that the other band members weren't comfortable with it personally, more than one of the band have young daughters and it was probably too much for them to be ok with. at the end of the day it was their decision to keep him or not

2017 Mustaine said in an interview that Jnr was the one who saved his marriage, and if it weren't for him it wouldn't have been salvaged. And this is how you repay him? Back to Megadeth lite then. Without Ellefson's bass it's not Megadeth for me. He's part of the nucleus of the band. It's not all about Mustaine. The album's they did without him on bass just had that something missing for me as a fan. The next part of the Mustaine dictatorship is complete. Ellefson has a lot of side business going. Combat records. Coffee. Bass technique clinics. Books etc Mustaine was probably wanting him to solely concentrate on Megadeth which probably seems pretty suffocating to a pure musician like Ellefson. I wish him luck and hope this shit is sorted and he can move forward from it. 🤘

ikr I hope they let Ellefson back in the band, this summer I was going to get to see Megadeth for the first time for my 14th birthday and Ellefson is one of the reasons I picked up bass, he's one of my heroes. After 40 years together I think it's hypocritical of Dave to kick David out, I mean cmon think about all the worse stuff Dave has done over the past 40 years and then hes just gonna kick David out for something that isn't even his fault. I mean the only thing David did was try to get a good wank, a little beatin the meat shall I say. David didn't know he was being filmed and the only thing David has done with minors is the notes! I hope Dave either lets David back in the band or David gets revenge by doing what Dave did after Metallica, start a new band that has way more badass name and make way more badass music. Mustaine thinks because he's some good Christian boy now that he can do no wrong blah blah blah, he needs to get off his pulpit.

Exactly how I feel about it! I’ve seen them 4 times. Every single time was like hey what happened to so and so. But every time I saw them David was playing bass. It’s just not Megadeth without David!
There was an 8 years period without Ellefson and as much as I like him, the music they put out without him was still great (sorry if bad English)

However, the last great show I saw was ACDC, in 2015. Blown away. Saw Iron Maiden in 2018 and was also surprised. Some folk still got it, esp when they take care of their health. And, in all fairness, Dave did go through chemo and all.

AND Illegal! There's already legal precedent set for this sort of thing: Hulk Hogan vs Gawker. Think about it. When's the last time a sex tape was "leaked" since that case? After Gawker had to pay out $100 million to Hogan NO ONE has tried it since. The person who did this made the biggest mistake of their life.
If he was fired for the infidelity, sure, MAYBE you could see that. But we have read Megadeth's statement (or at least *I* read it) and it wasn't the tape that was the sole indicator of the firing. It was a culmination of the other things that were causing the rift.
It's not like he posted it himself..
He was doing what grown ups do between two consenting parties.
Recording something like this with a girlfriend is nothing any of us haven't done before, it just doesn't get posted online..

I knew "Junior" back since 1984 when they used to rehearse at Mars in LA. My brother was best friends with them then and second engineered their first few albums recorded at Music Grinder. David was always nice to me and referred to me by name... Mustaine was a bit offish even when I printed some very demented Christmas cards for the "Daves" his response was Ughh. David (aka Junior everyone called himJunior) even sold me a kahler bridge (one of the bandmates I believe it was their first drummer worked at BC Rich and stole parts) he even said he could get me all the parts for a bass if I needed it but I didn't take him up on it. I hope he sorts all this out and finds the guy who recorded it and forces him to watch ernest angley videos 24 hours a day

We don't really know the full story of exactly what happened, but here are two things to consider, firstly, Dave Ellefson is supposed to be married, secondly, he's supposed to be an ordained Lutheran priest, so what's he doing being involved in something like this in the first place?
As a priest in the Lutheran church, he's held to a higher standard than the laypeople. It goes to the Bible itself, actually.... preachers of the Word are held to a very rigid standard and have very strict boundaries to keep the message from being tainted. I hope he is asking for forgiveness at this point...

He literally did nothing wrong and Mustaine fired him for it. Cancel culture at it's finest... I lost a lot of respect for Mustaine over this. The person that posted the video online had no right to do this and I hope Ellefson wins his case and that person is made to pay for what they've done. They literally ruined Ellefson's career. Dave was never a great nor good singer like Rob, he was decent at best when he was much younger. I still think that Killing is my business, Youthanasia, Peace Sells , Countdown were the best Megadeth albums in terms of vocals from Mustaine. I didn't include Rust in Peace because Dave sounds weird and just not good on a couple of songs like Tornado , Lucretia. Don't forget to add all the drugs Mustaine did back in the day, plus his various surgeries and to top it all off his throat cancer. I mean, he sounded awful during 2016-2019. He sounded better during 2020, after beating his throat cancer, but still, I don't think Dave's vocals will ever the same again.He struggled to hit high notes,even after beating the aforementioned cancer, due to the facts I mentioned earlier.

Like I say it's a one man band with hired guns on salaries. As for Junior he was an idiot but he hasn't committed an offence. I would just retire, enjoy the money and of course repent! I like Lafayette, my aunt lives there (bucky covington and hank Williams jr sister too) Its about 45 min to an hr from Nashville but easy to grt to.. Most celebs like Mustain live in Gallatin and franklin which is between lafayette and Nashville. The people are amazing nice, and pretty much normal right wing country folks. Theres a lot to do in Nashville but the city isn't like a big musical Kingdom like its portrayed. The American pickers store across town is cool but a little disappointing, 3rd man records was a joke the last time i was there. The mall is amazing,, and the hermitage is unreal if you like history.The music business is all there, but the city isn't full of musicians playing everywhere like I thought it would be 2 streets are the tourist area all about music. Its a few bars, t shirt shops, and boot stores other than that I looks like any other city anywhere.

Music, a huge cave with a waterfall, outdoor rock climbing up the side of a building, its crazy. I've seriously never been to a place like it but for music business, Nashville or around it is where you want to go for sure.

"....an already strained relationship" pretty much clarifies what's really going on here. It seems like Mustaine was waiting on a good excuse to get rid of Ellefson for a while now. I wonder what that's about? To be clear, Ellefson started a misguided friendship with a minor that turned s**ua!. She was 17 when they first started talking, and 18 when they began s**ting. He also invited her out to possibly meet, and that's where the grooming allegations came from. Those videos and screenshots were released by a friend who wanted to help the girl in question. Ellefson needs to leave this one alone, especially since he didn't actually file a report. I don't what what's true, but he asked the girl to "just say they were friends" and release a statement. Then in an attempt to shift blame, he called it a breach of privacy after those inappropriate interactions were exposed. It was all over Twitter. He's a married man in his mid-50s who knew better than to put himself in a situation like this. He's also a pastor who violated the tenets of his faith, so I'm a little put off by the complete disregard of his community. Also, it doesn't matter if this young lady was already s**ua!ly active before this incident happened. I've seen many comments on instagram s!*t-shaming this girl. This wasn't the case of two teenagers experimenting with their s**ua!ities, but a married middle-aged man who exploited a teenager's s**ua!ity. If you insist Ellefson is an innocent man who just "fell into temptation", all I hear is that he doesn't have any self-control. He's still wrong no matter how obtuse you want to be about it. We're all fans here. He may be a "nice guy", and you could have had a pleasant experience meeting him, but a few minutes with him doesn't mean we know the first thing about this man and what he does behind closed doors. At this point, Ellefson needs to reflect on his actions and address them with his loved ones. I believe there's always been an understanding between David and his wife. It's foolish to think she didn't know about her husband's indiscretions (at least to some extent), so I wouldn't be too worried about the state of their marriage. All that to say, I don't hold a teenager responsible for the damage David caused to his own reputation, career, and potentially his family. Mustaine did the right thing, but he did it to protect his band. We know enough about him too, and we've seen those Megadeth home videos. He was quick to abandon his longtime friend and bandmate who's been there for him through the worst of it, so there are no heroes in this story. The metal community needs to do better as a whole. Some fans certainly live up to the "guys who listen to metal are creepy pervs" reputation.
The actions of the person who leaked the footage don't change the wrongness of what he did. He shit on his faith and he shit on his wife. It makes him a huge liar. That's a huge breach of ethics that tarnishes the Megadeth brand, so Mustaine did the right thing.

I've seen Megadeth since the late '80s. I had one encounter. In Houston, I was on the ramp when the band came down to the bus. Ellefson was first, and said he'd be right back. Last was Mustaine, and I was literally standing in his way. Mustaine came right at me, and I just said "great show", to which he looked up and said "thanks". Ellefson came back and talked to us for maybe 20-30 minutes, and signed every shirt, etc. I'd rather not see this, but in no way do I think it should be this way. Dave Ellefson is integral, and Mustaine is a verifiable prick. Mustaine can rust in fuckin peace.

After seeing Mustaine's post, I believe the Ellefson videos were the last straw for Mustaine. Clearly there are many other issues between the two men. As for Mustaine himself and his misdeeds of the past, they have no bearing on this case. Mustaine is the boss and he gets to decide how to castigate Ellefson. Your failure to see the real problem of this whole story is truly sad. And it says a lot more about you than the rest of society.

Your half right saying the problem is that it happened on the internet because no one so long as they're not live streaming publicly should have to worry. Same with a Email, phone or text message. In all cases you are entitled to privacy! When something like this happens the response should not be why was it done on the internet but why was their privacy violated? We have NO right to this information at all. We should all feel sorry for both parties and ashamed of ourselves but instead people like yourself want to put the blame on them. That's the wrong way to think about it.

The allegations are that he started talking to the girl when she was 17. The sexual exchanges happened when she was 19 (as far as we know). In one of the messages he instructs the girl: “and please deny it and say that we are just friends”. It looks very shady and it’s definitely not a good look for the band (especially with the upcoming album release and tour). If it was your business and one of your employees was facing allegations of grooming minors (who knows, there may even be a federal investigation into it??), you would fire them too. Your business, your livelihood, your reputation depends on it. Plus, this is just what we know, maybe there is more information that hasn’t been shared with us yet.
It sucks! All of it sucks! Megadeth is not the same without David Ellefson. Actions do have consequences though. If it comes out that Ellefson has indeed been grooming minors then think about the repercussions the band would face for not having taken action. From a business and legal perspective, Megadeth did the right thing parting ways with Ellefson. It sucks though, it really sucks that it had to come to this. It’s sucks that any of this even happened!
