First, is Jeffersontown still called J town? I grew up in the 6th class city of Houston Acres. Is the Hikes Point area still nice?

I moved here alone from Florida about a year and a half ago, and soon realized Louisville wasn't going to be for me. Not because it isn't a very nice city loaded with charm, because it most certainly is. But because it's extremely provincial. If you were born here, and have plenty of friends and family, then Louisville is going to feel like a very cozy, homey place to be. However, if you're a transplant living alone in Louisville, then that loneliness is going to hit twice as hard when you're on the outside looking in. Living in a family-oriented type of environment when you have no actual living family (here or anywhere) is not psychologically healthy. I now understand why so many soul searchers often end up in "soulless" type cities (read: LA, NYC, Vegas, et al.). Because misery loves company. I came here precisely because it wasn't one of those aforementioned "fast" cities, and it ended up being one of the hardest lessons I've ever had to learn. Especially given how costly it will be to find my way back to a more suitable city. I definitely wasn't as smart as I thought I was. Before I moved, I even ignored the cautions of another TH-camr who was originally from Louisville who emphatically said there is absolutely no reason to move to Louisville unless you already have family here, are bringing family with you, and/or have a uniquely fantastic job waiting for you immediately upon arrival. I had none of those things. Cue sad trombone.
Anyways, about this video. Louisville is definitely neighborhoody. It's actually one of the things I really like about it. Its architectural charms, seemingly endless pockets of housing and livability, the rolling landscapes, and the fact the grass is (most probably) quite literally greener than it is wherever you're from. Ironically enough.
Now for the seasons. Last winter I started calling this place Gloomyville instead of Louisville. And never stopped. I hated it here with a passion. And Baywatch suddenly became my favorite show of all-time. Not because of those red bathing suits, but because of that gloriously bright sun shining in the sky! I savored each episode as if it was a last meal. A sumptuous feast for the eyes. It was all I could do to take my mind off of that dreadful grey forever looming behind my tightly closed blinds. SAD (season affective disorder) is something I used to glibly mock. Well...I ain't mocking no more, that's for sure. Speaking of, I'm probably due for a serious bout of restless leg syndrome any day now...
But seriously, I did obviously survive it. And have since had some perspective-altering time here to more appreciate Louisville's offerings, including its weather. Truthfully, 8 months of the year the weather here is pretty darn great. So what's 4 months of misery, right? Can't have it all. Or at least most of us can't, anyway.
I've already thrown in the cold towel and arranged to move back to Florida at the very beginning of spring, so this could very well be my final Louisville post on TH-cam. So I just want to take this opportunity to wish all the Louisvillians I never got the chance to meet all the best, and that I'm sure under different circumstances we would've made great friends. And to those considering a move to Louisville...I hope sharing my experiences here has been of help.
    Take care.

Louisville has gone overboard with naming everything after Mohamed Ali, I have nothing against him but come on....
